Great deal Outback
Subaru Outback is an awesome vehicle. I previously owned a Toyota RAV4, and my Outback is even better. It has excellent traction and holds the road like a hug. Getting in and out is just as easy and the height is the same for viewing the road. The electronics and technology are easy to reach and understand. The safety in this vehicle is the best I’ve ever experienced. Leased my 2019 Outback with International Autos Subaru of Merrillville. Russ Kovacic was excellent in explaining the vehicle and assistance with the lease. He even called back to make sure still happy with the Outback ( which I am). Definitely recommend Russ Kovacic and International Autos Subaru of Merrillville to my friends and family. The Subaru Outback is worth trying ( not just hype) and Russ is a very good salesman to assist you.

Lots of pick up. Very comfortable and almost too much technology.

Loved the car, ran perfect, but ....
To make a Long story short, It turned out that I can see better with SRH( steering responsive headlights). For that reason, I traded my 2019 Outback Premium in for a 2020 Outback Limited.
2019 Subaru Outback
What's to love: 1. Blind spot detection when backing up - helps avoid hitting people who walk behind vehicles with backup lights on 2. Blind spot detection when moving - works well 3. Acceleration - gets out of its own way 4. GPS - mostly finds addresses reliably and can find best route. Sometimes mixes up left and right side of a highway. 5. Mostly predictable handling with exceptions - see below 6. Backup camera has wide field of vision, shows what direction front wheels are turned and how far from items behind vehicle. Very nice. Wish it could show ground close to vehicle to avoid running over small stuff. 7. Decent gas mileage 8. Tire pressure measurement on each tire. Wish it was in lbs, but still nice that it shows pressure for each tire separately. Makes it easy to figure out which tire needs some extra air. 9. Can show both time and distance traveled on current trip. Very helpful when driving for business or tracking both miles and time for other reasons. What's not to like: 1. The airbag positioned under driver's right thigh. If it ever goes off, expect shattered hip. 2. The hard object located under your butt on driver's seat. Car becomes uncomfortable to drive after a half hour or so 3. Battery charging issues - allows battery to run down and then car won't start. Special problem after either not driving it for a couple of days or driving it only short distances 4. Passenger side window stops closing correctly after awhile. Can "finess" it, but dealer wants $600 to fix what appears to be a manufacturer's defect. 5. Entertainment system plays USB based music in whatever order IT decides, not order user wants 6. Use of many controls based on buttons or on screen icons requiring driver to take eyes off the road - dangerous 7. Push button start - nice idea, but dangerous. Fop has 30 ft range, forget to push the button to turn off car, pull into attached garage and leave keys in coat pocket which gets hung just inside garage entrance to house. Car not likely to shut down until gas runs out. Dangerous. Should shut off after some period of time, like five minutes. 8. Active lane control may pull you into obsticles on sides of road when on a road with sharp curves. Turned off active lane control to prevent that and must check after every servicing to be sure it is not turned back on by service tech. Leave passive warnings on - actually help to improve driver lane control without creating dangerous situation as a byproduct.

Never buy a Subaru!
Things just keep breaking. Under 50k miles. Driven like a grandma. The dealership is terrible. Literally forgot to put a lug nut in one wheel.

Bought one. Will never buy one again
Own a 2014 Outback Premium. All I can say is what a heap. This thing knocks and rattles more than any car I've ever owned. Light bulbs burn out constantly. Dealerships can never seem to diagnose the problems. At one point they said they would need the car for three weeks and have to disassemble it to find the problems! Even spoke with Subaru corporate! Junk, junk, junk. We are currently in the market for a new car, and I will not even consider a Subaru. It is unfortunate because I am extremely brand loyal, and they could have earned a customer for life.

LoveThis Car
Plenty of pep, good gas mileage, lots of cargo room, comfortable, easy to park, great features UPDATE: I’d buy another one of these in a heartbeat. I love everything about it. I wanted to downsize from a large SUV a few years ago and was apprehensive about going smaller. I have never been sorry. This thing has tons of room, is easy on gas, easy to park, responsive steering, very comfortable, and reliable. My one, and only, wish is that it could be more quiet in the cabin.

short but sweet
I have owned this car for just 2 weeks and 100 miles. Not much time to evaluate. Edmunds and consumer reports were my source of info and there have been no surprises. The highlights have been the safety features and the way the car handles. This is a car that should do well in Minnesota winters. The quality inside and out appears to be outstanding.

Enjoyed driving the car. Best in its segment.
First of all, Edmunds did a great review of this car. My girlfriend has this car and I drive it regularly. Though driving dynamics of the car is not its strong point compared to a Porsche Macan (overemphasis on understatement), I believe that the Suburu more than meets the needs of most and I would prefer reliability over performance, and total cost and cost of ownership as a better target which so far this car is looking great. The CarPlay is fantastic and is all you will need for technology convenience. Like the review, the sound quality is very good for a car, but it has been a long time that I have been in any car that beats the high fidelity of the Mark Levinson sound system in my Lexus SC430, at any cost which I still enjoy today (let me know if there is better). Fortunately I have seen good gas mileage on this car compared to the EPA estimates though it is a little lower than claimed. But for anyone who is looking for an SUV like experience, but want a lower profile, this is one of the best cars given its price point. My model did not have any of the safety features of some new cars such as the automatic emergency braking which I really wish it had and highly recommend to get for safety. Oh, and BTW, if you do take this car on unpaved roads, then I would say this is a very FUN car to drive and get dirty! On the last points, I will give this car a better driving experience on the road than Edmund's review (I had the 6 cylinder). And if you need a great road experience, my favorite so far is the 2017 Porsche Cayman with PDK. You will never beat that balanced mid-engine two seater for driving dynamics -- you will always disappoint yourself if you try to find better in any SUV or crossover.

A Great Car with a Great Price
Subaru Outback is a great car overall. Sterling Subaru of Virginia is a great dealer to purchase this car. It only took me an hour or so to get the car out of the dealer with a permanent license plat installed. I am happy with the dealer and with the car. Update 7/25/2019. It runs well for me so far. It is still a great car with a great price for me. I went back to the dealer for a free oil change and checkup. Everything went well. Update 7/25, 2020. I went back to change the recalled fuel pump. It went well. I have not had any problem yet but I always have the recall done as recommended. The car still runs great and I still am happy with price I paid and the car I drive. I have the oil changed every year even though I drive only about 2000 miles per year, as I am a retired and have other cars in addition.

3 in a row
This is Outback #3 for me- I’ve been hooked on the Outback since the first test drive with Outback #1. “Road presence” is what initially sold me on them. Consistent reliability and great service at the dealerships have kept me coming back. What I like most about these cars: everything! To name a few tho- the way this car feels on the road (what I call road presence), cargo space, reliability, fuel economy. ( better than a Ford Focus I had prior to Outback #1) consistent friendly, helpful service for all general maintenance that has been done. What I don’t like about this car: nothing. : )

Great versatile car for anyone and everything..
I've had my '19 Outback Limited for a year and I love it! It is the best riding car I've ever had and gets good gas mileage. Seating is comfortable for long trips and there is not a lack of cargo space; some hauling I use to use my truck for I will use my Outback for now. I have the 2.5 and it is more than adequate power for normal driving on any type of road. Safety features are good, sometimes a little sensitive. Features that get a WOW rating is the Adaptive Cruise Control, it is amazing and I use it quite often and I do not drive on the interstate that often. I can't think of any part of this car I don't like.

Very good car
My wife loves her car. Zero mechanical issues, very comfortable to drive. My only complaint is the 2.5 engine performance. I am used to driving my full size Ram 99% of the time, but the 2.5 in the Outback is very underpowered. I am sure the 3.6 performs better, but it seems like the 2.5 shouldn’t even be offered. Prayer is suggested when pulling out to the left from our neighborhood onto a busy street.

The mighty Subaru
This car is awesome and Subara of America stands behind their vehicles
Runs great, less filling!
We got the Touring edition and love all the bells and whistles. Haven't yet figured them all out :-) The car runs great, gets good mileage and is super comfy. Bought in FL, drove immediately to IN - a great test drive! Solid, spacious, great to drive on the road. Highly recommend it (at this stage...1 week so far).

Great family car for all ages
The Outback is a great car fo older drivers with a higher entrance and adjustable seat. Kids love the roomy back seat, and parents love the large rear area for groceries, baggage, and loading things from trash bags to furniture.

We’ve had good luck, car driven easy and is our 7th Subie. Except for the ( fill in your own) dealerships, a good experience outstanding products and very strong, safe for a small wagon.
Subaru Outback Excellance
Our 2019 Outback Limited has been everything we were expecting it to be. It handles well in all kinds of conditions, sunny, rain, snow, heavy traffic, etc. We enjoy the backup camera's wide view, but the cross traffic alert is terrific. The lane monitor is a blessing to keep you alert while on the road. The heated seats are enjoyed as temperatures drop, heating and AC perform well. We use the versatility of the back storage area, folding down the back seats really make a large area for hauling items.

Good but has problems
I’d like to share my honest impressions of the 2019 Subaru Outback. It’s been a mixed bag, so let’s dive in: The Good: When it comes to handling, the Outback is a champ. Rain, snow, or ice—it takes them all in stride. No drama, just steady performance. Kudos to Subaru’s engineering team. The Quirks 1. Window Woes: There’s this one window that insists on playing hard to get. Lower it, and it’s like coaxing a stubborn child to come back up. A gentle jiggle usually does the trick. 2. Frozen Window Blues: In freezing weather, the window occasionally sticks. I find myself pounding on the glass to break it loose. 3. Electrical Gremlins: There is a short circuit in the electrical system. If I do not drive it for a couple of days, chances are my battery will be dead. 4. The Phantom Touchscreen: Now, let’s talk about the touch screen. It’s like a haunted Ouija board. Ghost fingers glide across it, triggering beeps and tantrums. Radio? Nope. Maps? Nah. Bluetooth? Forget it. But fear not—the backup camera remains the one obedient soul in this digital séance. Sincerely, A 2019 Subaru Outback Owner

Buyer’s Remorse
My last vehicle I drove for 19 years no issues really. It never failed me, ever. I had looked at Subaru’s for years knowing I would have to one day part with my ‘ole reliable’. First 2 years, in love with it, then it started failing. I obviously drive a vehicle to get my money’s worth. This car will not last. It’s left me stranded 4 times, the front sounds like it’s falling apart, the struts have had to be replaced, the windshield has snapped for no reason and the passenger side window cracked, the seats are busted, my Bluetooth will not stay paired, my electric windows have issues and I could go on and on. I bought an extended warranty and the dealer can’t seem to fix my issues. I am a small woman, used leather conditioner and my seats are busted. I want my ‘ole reliable’ back!

Adequate but not great
Owned since 2020 and here are a few observations. Battery drain was a huge issue because of Starlink. This was finally corrected not by dealer but by a hack found on a Subaru forum. The doors seem so light that when they are shut it sounds like a tin can. Rear rotors replaced before 70000 miles super difficult to replace. Being handy the engine is not all that easy to work on your self. Spark plug replacement is insane for the DIY person. Also leather has started to split on driver bolster. I know other owners have complained about the quality of the leather. Quality is very disappointing. Overall mpg are good. The factory rubber mats front and back are very helpful to have.

Dated dash
2020 has an awesome redesigned dash
Didn’t think price and hype were justifiable
Rented couple days (used 30k miles), was maintained per schedule. I was just not impressed. Not enough power and getting up on highway it makes very loud noise...and it’s a hassle. I thought Subaru was known for the drive but not with this small engine model. Steering was not great I prefer more attached feeling. Interior and safety are superb and now I see why people love Subaru for safety. Comfort was...okay, I didn’t really care for the cloth material. Also there’s no vent in backseat and that was another no-no living in jungle here. Overall this may be a good wagon if living in northeast where you don’t drive beyond 70mph. Believe or not I ended up with outlander wagon it’s equally equipped (not well refined like outback), saved $10k, and I’m happy.
