Used 2016 Subaru Outback SUV Consumer Reviews
Reliable car, Shoddy interior material quality
I’ve own a Subaru for five years. I bought it two years old as a lease off as a limited you would think it would have a premium leather interior. It does not it has thin leather inserts in the middle and paper thin vinyl bolsters the seat started disintegrating at 42,000 miles. The infotainment system has now begin to fail sporadically at 60,000 miles, the pain is very soft and the suspension items are very easy to bend my ball joints swore out at 50,000 miles and my sway bar boots cracked at 50,000 miles as well overall I’m very happy with the car. I just am disappointed that you would expect a little bit higher quality for the amount that the car originally sold for , the dealership work is very expensive service and spark plugs for one of the most difficult jobs. I’ve ever done a car but it’s done. I’m going to recycle the brake fluid and it’s getting an oil change.

love love love it
Beautiful vehicle! Gas mileage is poor but I love the way I can cruise up mountains. I would get the four cylindar if you have a long commute.

Outstanding vehicle
I upgraded to the used 2016 Outback limited from new 2014 XV Crosstrek limited. What a different experience. Everything in Outback is much better from materials to comfort of driving. The real life gas mileage is the same despite being bigger and heavier although much below manufacture numbers . And my German Shepard dog finally has room for itself. The Eyesight system is a great safety addition to the car. The only thing I could complain about is the infotainment unit. If you have too many songs on your USB drive ( I have 8000 songs), the unit takes about 3 minutes to recognize all of them. Before that plays only songs from the first folder( I set it to random play).

A wagon, not an SUV
The 3.6R entry was a racecar in station wagon clothing. CVT aside, this thing moved. Unfortunately, it also suffered from wind noise and an unstable, unpredictable suspension. The dealership said everything was fine, but my wife and I noticed a slight sway over some bumps that had not been present before. Eventually, opted to trade up to an Ascent, but may look at Outbacks again in 2021 as the size was more manageable than the big rig. Update Feb. 2021: Traded in the Ascent with less than 3K miles for another Outback. Not to make this more of a review for the Ascent, but it was just too big for what we needed, and could barely fit in the garage. Worst of all, the wife didn't feel comfortable driving it. So, went back to the Outback Limited XT and couldn't be happier. The wind noise problems were resolved, and the suspension is uniform. I'd still recommend a 2016 Outback Limited 3.6R to anyone looking to buy used. Just make sure the price is more than a few thousand less than a new one.
