Great but could be better

The car is very responsive and easy to drive. The seats are comfortable and the rear seats have plenty of legroom. It feels very sporty for an SUV. Visibility is great -- the best out of any vehicles I have ever driven. I also test drove the CR-V and CX-5 and ultimately decided on the Forester for the power and handling and down right fun to drive factor. CR-V was boring .... CX-5 felt a little sluggish even with the latest engine, and it was harder to get in/out of due to high step in ... also back seats felt cramped. The upgraded harmon kardon stereo sounds just ok .... blue tooth works well though, buttons are small.

I bought the car (2014 Subaru Forester 2.0XT Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo CVT)) on July 2013 after a lot of research and I am overall pleased. Acceleration is great in "S" mode but uses a lot of gas - average is 22.5mpg after 10,700 miles. Exterior design and 18" powder coated wheels are standout in the crowd of small size SUVs.

I have driven two Honda Accords with manual transmission for the past 10-15 years. I decided I wanted an automatic and a bigger car for safety. I was torn between the Mazda CX5 and this Suburu Forester. Both were great drives and great looking! One of the reasons I chose the Subaru is the EyeSight technology although I have to admit I thought it had the extra feature of letting me know when there was someone in my blind spot (a feature of the Mazda). When I got it, I realized it did not, but still preferred the power liftgate (not on the Mazda) and the peppier engine. I have no buyer's remorse tho and love this car! (Plus my friends are jealous.) OK, it's been 3 years now. I am still in love with my Subaru. I take trips to the beach every other week (70 miles) and it a dream to drive through the forests. The huge windows make the drive safe and easy to see in all directions, not to mention the scenery. I can also pass slower drivers with ease. My passengers love the huge and comfortable back seat. The ease of use is amazing - parking, backing up, steering, reaching all things needed by driver, etc. The ride is so smooth. The only complaint I have is the GPS system seems to disappear at the worst times. When I'm looking for a destination it almost gets me there and then suddenly it's telling me I missed my turn, but never told me to turn! I would still like the technology about cars in my blindspot which I think is coming in the next model. I'm thinking of upgrading to that if the trade in is good. The dealership called me last year to trade in because they never have enough good used models and were going to give me back almost what I paid for the car originally. I'll think about that next year. In the meantime, I'm happy as s clam!

DISAPPOINTED - TERRIBLE RIDE

I've driven a 2006 Forester until now which I loved, but unfortunately hit a deer (great crash test results, however!) This one has some pros: roomy, great views, love the CVT, peppy, nice radio, but: This car has the worst ride of any vehicle I've ever driven. I don't know how they passed this new suspension. If you have back problems or kidney problems, this is not your vehicle. You will feel every tiny bump in the road. Other reviewers have called the ride 'skittish', 'unsettled', 'jittery', 'tiresome and annoying'. I agree with all of those. It is a very hard ride, very jarring - constantly bumping and jostling, while at the same time rocking side to side. It's a shame because

CAR IS A SCAM

Second consumption test underway. I've been told that when my oil light came on at 2000 miles into the oil change it was normal to have to put a qt in. Omg what a joke. First and last Subie. Shame too cause I really liked my 2014 Forester. Have lemon law attorney now. Subaru has been settling these cases without going to court in most instances, which I've been told by two separate lemon law attorneys AND a Subie salesman. When I ask about the 2015, they say the problem has been fixed. So if it's normal for me to have to dump oil in every 2 minutes, why was the "problem fixed" in later models?? Check your State's lemon law-in PA the manufacturer has to pay attorney fees as well.
