So far So Good
For the most part this is a great car. It has nearly the same amount of room as my previous Izuzu Axiom that got only 22MPG at best. Mechanically, seems very good after 2 months and 2900 miles and the overall design is excellent. Why go away from soft cloth seat material. (don't like leather) Designed for wear not comfort? They're scratchy like burlap. The better half loves support they provide but she puts plush towel down first. Stereo amazingly poor- and audio levels differ by mode. Ride is great on tarmac but teeth rattling on concrete above 45 mph. It just can't adjust fast enough to slight bumps- big bumps are fine though. It's tiring on long trips.
Happy with my Forester
It's really hard to review this car without context of having driven its competitors. To me it's a very nice vehicle but I'm not sure how it stacks up against other CUVs. I'll try to address the major topics. After 3900 miles it doesn't burn oil. MPG as advertised but drops with ambient temperature and speed over 65 mph. I can drive a long way without getting lower back pain so I consider this comfortable. Adequate storage where I can put a coffee in the center holder and water in the door (32 oz!). Storage under cargo area for ratchet straps and wife's purse. Disappointed with stiff ride at first but used to it now. Radio data system intuitive and sound quality adequate.

First but not last Subaru
I already have 8,000 miles on my Touring model with Eye Sight. I live in Houston but also own a home in Colorado. I have owned everything from Fords and Buicks, to Toyota, Honda, and Hyundais. The build and design quality of this Forester is truly outstanding in every way. The room inside relative to the size of the exterior is amazing. Seats are extremely comfortable, and I have back issues. The vehicle has a very pleasing tight feel.
Not a lot to love
The all wheel drive is excellent and the vehicle handles well in snow, ice and slippery roads. winter tires are a great addition. Getting in and out is easy both front and back. Seating front and back is comfortable. Storage is excellent and the car still looks very good both inside and outside, with a nice shinny finish. Controls are easy to use and functional. The ride is fine around town, but gets tiresome on any trip over 100 miles on Michigan roads as lots of bumps get through. The car has been high maintenance, with frequent repairs such as wheel bearings, brakes, brake calipers, ignition parts and more. It burns a quart of oil every 1500 miles, and the oil has contaminated the catalytic converter. Gas milage was excellent when new with 34 mpg highway, now is about 27mpg highway in summer and 22mpg in winter. As the car aged there is more wind noise, much more drive gear and road noise Traded it in for a Volvo

Don't plan on a soft ride. Very rough unless loaded. Tires and wheelbase contribute to a bouncy / rough ride. Good sound but spotty phone / Bluetooth. Like the firm seats. Heater is not as good as some 4 cyl in cold weather. Love the moon roof. Great legroom. Should have memory seats on drivers side.Overall would buy it again.
