Similar only in in small outside/roomy inside. But as good as the Crooz may be, this box is funkier, handles quite well, gets better gas mileage, and doesn't feel slow in real-world driving. The five speed with optional front strut support and cold air intake is fun to drive, especially with my added 16x7" wheels and 205WR50/16 tires. No racer, but practical and very comfy for 4 XL adults. It's 30+ mpg makes most SUV's obscene by comparison, for street and highway use.

I love this vehicle. It is great drive and easy to use, especially with children. I cen get my young infant in and out with little effort. And even with the car seat in the back, we can fit two more people nicely. My husband and I get stopped everywhere. We have let numerous people sit in it and have sold people on buying one all over. They cannot believe the room and comfort. We highly recommend it.

We got our Box in August 2003. It has been a great ride. Big inside, small outside -- how'd they do it? Best features are reliability, fit & finish, thoughtful design, overall quality & it's cheap to get, cheap to run. Plus, it's fun to drive! Wish list: cruise control, side curtain airbags.

A great European looking car. A car that looks like it would not have much room in it but the opposite is true. You have lots of head room as well as leg room, both in the front and rear seats. It drives and handles well. Acceleration is great when passing cars and no power is lost when A/C is running. Fuel economical. that drives and handles

I recentley took a trip to a small town east of Bakersfield Calif from Sacramento Calif. Once free of traffic I smoked at 85 plus for 5 hours. Averaged around 30mpg at that speed, not to shabby. The trip back may have exceeded 90 for long stretches but I won't admit to anything. My little Xb was quite, solid, and as comfortable as the sport suspension could be. I love this little car and everybody stares at it. Like it or not you have to admire Toyota's daring with the Xb.

I love this car!I'm a 27-year old female and i don't regret buying the car for a minute. It's good-looking, lots of interior space, and an incredible price.People have given me mixed reviews on what they think of it,but the nay-sayers are just set in their ways and afraid of anything new.The only bad thing about this car is my insurance is more expensive, because they're expecting 20-something unmarried males to be buying the car. Also, I would have liked to have the option of a sunroof.Otherwise, no complaints at all.

I've had my xB for about 6 months now, and it's a great get around town car. We've taken it on a couple of road trips (nothing flashy, just a 5 hour drive up the coast), and it can get a bit uncomfortable after a while, but what car doesn't? Good gas mileage, decent get-up-and-go, and a very cool sound system with lots of upgradables if wanted. Defenitely worth the price!! One note: get the cold air intake! It takes away the air conditioning torque deficit.

I actually went to the dealer to look at another car. After rejecting it as too small, I sat in the xB as a joke. (I thought it looked silly.) I was shocked by how big it felt. So shocked I took it out for a drive. The automatic was so fun, I asked if I could drive the 5 speed. By the end of the second drive, I actually liked the way it looked. I love this car!

If you aren't ready for stares and strangers' questions, this isn't the car for you. If you are looking for a fun alternative to both the SUV and the traditional "commuter car", give the Scion XB a chance. The Scion take the best from both of the above types of cars; it's small and gas-milage conscious, yet it's still comfortable and has lots of cargo space so you aren't confined to a solitary trunk to haul your junk. It has loads of headroom and personal space, so you don't feel as if you're in your passanger's hip pocket. Add a lot of great standards (air, cd, power everything) and it's a great deal. I really love my XB.

The car is great, and while it still lags a little on the freeway, I dont feel a "huge" difference between the acceleration with this engine and my 245hp F-150. Of course the weight has a lot to do with that. While the car is great, be careful of dealers if negotiating a lease. They will tell you they "Will throw in" certain options, and charge for them while trying to disguise it as part of the lease. If you can, find the Scion only dealerships built into certain Toyota dealerships so that you dont run into shady financers.

A few months into owning the car and I still have to answer the usual questions about it (ie: Who makes this? Is it a hybrid? Why did you buy such an ugly car?...) It's a fun ride and offers lots of space for passengers. I was in a minor accident a few weeks after buying the car and was surprised at how quickly parts were available for such a new model.

I just test drove xB today and I think that it's a really good car; however, there are many things to make me love and hate it. Overall, the car is very easy to drive, good gas mileage, and like nothing else on the road. If you have small budget and don't care what other people think, then this may be your choice.

First off let me say to all of you who think this is a little persons car.... you're dead wrong!!!!!!! I am 6'1", 250 lbs. And believe me, the xB can hold all of me and then some. I became interested in the car about 3 months ago when I was at work one day and saw it rolling past me. It almost looked like a baby Hummer H2! HA HA HA! I still didn't pay much attention until I blew the tranny in my 97 Dodge Intrepid and figured instead of spending $2500 to fix it, I'd check into getting an economy car instead.

A fantastic car. It's a definite attention getter with double takes and lots of questions. It rides solid and tight around corners and curves. Toyota did not waste space with extraneous features. It is really spacious inside front and back with nothing wasted. It feels like you're in an SUV and then you get out and realize (again) it's a compact wagon. Finally, this car is excellently priced with all the goodies as standard features. It's not a gas guzzler (31/35mpg) I only extended the warranty. Everything else you could want is already included (with playful type options if you want them). Bottom line--it's a fun, cool, cute, practical car.

Have had the vehicle about a week now and it has been nothing but fun, fun, fun....the looks I am getting here in Dallas are surprise and interest in this fun new car. Very pleased with the great sound system and gas mileage. All of my friends are amazed at the leg room in the back seat. I have never had a very good experience buying a new car, but this one was definitely the exception. I built it on line with what I wanted and that is the price I paid with no haggling. I am definitely not a youngster anymore, just young at heart and this car makes it for me!

Just as Roy Jones Jr. had to keep moving up weight classes to find good competition only to trounce it handily, The Scion xB does the same thing. There isn't any car I'd rather own until you get to around 30 grand. The looks are just amazing and so is the passenger room. I just love this car. And the fact that it has an engine that's just itching to be modded is even better. I recently got 36MPG in my automatic on the freeway and I was nearing 380 miles on the tank. Those who can't see the genius behind this car are doomed to be blind forever. Who would ever expect stupidity to understand genius anyway?

With over 3000 miles logged it's time to say my part. In trying to figure out what I should buy as my first car I read countless reviews. At first I dismissed the Scion because it was only available in California, but once hooked on it I didn't stop until I owned one. I read every article and review I could find, and from personal experience I'd say it has come through with everything it was said to be and more. From the no pressure sales and extremely nice dealer experience to all the enjoyment I've gotten out of this extremely versatile car. I am beginning to modify it and personalize it and feel that it will make an awesome cruiser.

THE BEST SCION xB ON THE ROAD

Andrew Secinore, 03/30/2005
2004 Scion xB 4dr Wagon (1.5L 4cyl 5M)

The scion xB is the best car to be today. The reason is because of the price, the fuel economy 31MPG city and 34MPG highway and the ways you can trick it out. Who would have thought that you could get a brand new vehicle for only $13,000 and trick it out and it would only cost you about $21,046. You can trick out the rims the exaust pipe and audio system to about 2000 watts of power. The name "Scion" is actually a low priced Toyota aimed ay young buyers. The scion xB also has 160HP V6 engine. The xB is also available with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 4-speed automatic tranmission can about $14,440.

LOVE this car! And I'm WAY past the targeted demographic age. :) If I could, I would buy another one just to have a new one in reserve. I can't believe the attention to detail and find something new I like better every day. Nice little storage compartments, the dash is EASY to read, you can feel for the disc/radio and change over without looking. Hooks to hold the floor mats in place that swivel if you use different mats. I could go on and on. I took the interior light option and illuminated cup holders. FUN!!!!! For adies; the shape of the windows means your hairdo isn't blown away. :) It's CUTE, it's FUN to drive and the gas mileage is soooo nice!

Gas mileage is good, averages 23 miles per gallon combined city and highway. The seating is comfortable and we loved the placement of the gauges. The leg room and the head room is great for anyone.I have never owned a car that got as much attention as this has. I love this car! I've thrown it into some high speed turns and it handles great. I like the overall look of the exterior and interior of the car, and have found the quality to be great. The leg room's the best, but unfortunately since there's alot of leg room, storage space is tiny. One other thing is that I wish the engine had a bit mor umph to it. Oh well, even so I still love the car, and don't regret buying it.

Thats the best way I can describe it. I recently gave up my beautiful Saab 9-3 convertible when I came to the realization that there were more important things to spend my money on. Wanting to spend as little as possible, but not wanting to be stuck with a boring econo-box, I fell in love with the ugly little xB. I do not exaggerate when I say that I have gotten more positive comments in 2 weeks of having this car than in the time that I had the Saab that cost 3x's as much. The gas mileage is great, it handles well, I can throw my bike in the back, and its a Toyota, so I feel confident that it will be running for a long time. What more could I ask for?
