Used 1995 Saturn S-Series Sedan Consumer Reviews
Reliable, reliable, reliable
I have had only one unscheduled repair in 7 years due to failiure of a part (exhaust pipe bracket). Gas mileage has never been below 27 mpg with city driving. Has averaged about 32 mpg for the life of the car and has gotten as high as 45 mpg on the highway. Great, well built car.
I love my car!
Bought my little SL2 new in 1995 & it's still my primary car! Got a little over 160K. Had to replace clutch master/slave cylinders, head gasket, replaced the ceiling & floor liner/carpets/floor mats and swapped out my drivers seat for the under-used passenger seat. That was like getting a whole new seat for free! So the cosmetics are up to date too! It runs fabulous and has been a great little car. The fuel efficiency is ridiculously great! I average in the mid 30's on highway! Hope to still be driving this car 10 years from now - at least - more would be cool too!
Good car
I bought this car (used) because I want to put fewer miles on the BMW. Since Nov 09 I have put on 5K mi on this. Paid $1100, it had 113K mi, muffler was the only thing that needed replacing ($160). The car is not tight as a new one any more, but runs pretty smooth. Gets 31 mpg on mixed driving, 35 on highways. Uses 1 qt of synthetic every 1000 mi. Cheap on insurance. Gets from point A to B reliably. Very laid back on acceleration. I have touched 70 mph, but mostly do 55, it's comfortable. Gives new meaning to bucket seats, feels like sitting in a bucket. Very low seating, no blocking exterior noise. Reliable, economical, unpretentious car. Could be one of best deals on wheels.
Not bad for a first car
I'm a high school student right now, and got a 95 SL2 last year. Not a bad car for a student, it handled the Texas summer pretty well, the only down side was that I had to change its alternator after a few month (around 81K). Seems like saturn cars have a tendency to have bad alternators. And the oil consumption is pretty high compared to other cars.
Excellent Commuter Car
Bought my 1995 Saturn 2 years ago when, as a result of a divorce, my commute became 75 miles each way. The car had 83000 miles when I bought it, now has 146000. All I have out into it was a new Battery and tires. Runs great and very good gas mileage...hope to put another 70000 miles on it!
