Impressions of my Pontiac Trans Sport
I bought my 1993 Pontiac Trans Sport in 2008 with 118,000 miles on the odometer. It runs flawlessly and is a pleasure to drive. Unfortunately, within a day of ownership, the starter failed and within 2 weeks the ABS sensor also failed. This sensor was expensive to replace and was told by the mechanic that this is a common design flaw. This proved true; having to replace this part again in 2010. Other flaws of this model have proven more superficial: both door handles have broken off which renders it comical when entering the vehicle; wiper motor failed and like every GM vehicle I've owned; the headliner sags on my head! Nonetheless, after 250,000 miles this spaceship still gets me home.
Fun To Drive
Bought 2nd handed from private owner. Love the exterior looks, inside looks & comfort. Looked @ several other newer vans but really happy I decided on the Pontiac Trans Sport.
got my moneys worth
Well thought out design with a more than adequate powertrain and interior space. Its a noisy machine including creaks and wind noise but after 250,000 kms it still doesn't use any oil and has the same power and gas mileage as the day it came off the showroom floor. In the 11 years I've had this van its cost me a total of about $2000 in repairs. It owes me nothing.GM did good.
Good used find
Good van with good performance
Pontiac - Never again
This is the second Pontiac I have owned and I will never buy another. Both my Sunbird and this Transport had major transmission problems at 70,000 miles. Power windows no longer work, gas release was broken, back hatch won't lock, surpentine belt squeaked for years. I wouldn't recommend a Pontiac to an enemy.
