I have owned two of these cars and both of them performed beautifully. With tons of interior comforts including: steering wheel radio controls, 4 leather bucket seats, heads up windsheild display. This vehicle was definitely well ahead of its time.

I have put 234,200 miles on my Grand Prix and I should have been able to put more on but I sheared number 1 spark plug and I think it is over. This car has been unbelievable. I bought it with 6 miles on the odometer. She tended to burn through alternators but here is the list of stuff still on her from Detroit - radiator, water pump, entire exhaust system, front shocks/struts, transmission, all light bulbs except one (side marker - this fact never stops amazing me), all gaskets (did have to replace coolant return once), electric fans, spark plugs wires, A/C works like new, there is still just so much that is original equipment.

I bought this car from my dad. It had been his company car. Then I used it in college. Then my sister used it. Then it sat for 2 years. Finally, I bought it, put a new battery in it, changed the tires, and have driven it just about every day since. It is great in warm or cold weather, handles well, gets good gas mileage, and just runs like crazy.

Originally purchased with 132,000 - currently has 314,817 miles. Its on its 2nd water pump! The original got me to 313,000. Have replaced the IAC Valve, Alternator, BRAKES,Got 150k on my last set of tires. Its a tight car. Excellent road car unless you are a passenger. Car has the console mounted compass. My tip is to use Synthetic motor oil and the BEST filter you can get. I change the oil every 6k miles, but once went 16k. Had one wheel bearing replaced. Overall a great car.

This car has been an excellent vehicle. Very well designed interior and has been running for over 290,000 miles (that's like driving around the world a few times then driving to the moon). Its been very reliable since I've owned it with the exception of the alternator and blinker switch. Awesome car way ahead of its times for gadgets and deating/design!

I bought this car as a junior in college and it's still going strong. With all the pocket rockets that my friends have, this heavy beast (over 4000 lbs.) has what it takes to keep up with the rest. It's got great acceleration and a sweet looking stock body kit, especially for it's time! The only thing i don't like are the sucky brakes and the fact that it's a standard. Also, the exhaust likes to rust and the fuel pump went at 150k.

Worst Car I Ever Owned

During warranty period, instrument cluster, wiper motor+switch, headlight switch, exhaust, ECM, trunk release, and more failed, some more than once. After the warranty period many of the same items failed and Pontiac offered no assistance. Since warranty car has seen 5 alternators, 3 starters, 2 water pumps, 2 instrument clusters, one computer, damper pully, injector problem, intake manifold oil leak, AC compressor, many sensors and much more. Radio quit. ago. Transmission failed at 60k miles. Today at 78K rack has failed. The only nice thing I can say about it is that it still looks like the day I bought it.

I have a rarity. They only made 1500 in a 5 speed in 91 and I have one that has the 3.4L DOHC. This thing is impossible to 1)work on 2)find reasonably priced parts for. These are fun to drive but watch out for maintenence costs, there will be many.

I have only had this car since 2001, but I had an exact same 1992 Grand Prix (same colors, engine, ect.) from 1998 - 2000, and they were both great cars. The current 1991 that I have has had it's share of problems, tires, water pump, rack & pinon, High Pressure power steering hose, and windshield, but what can you expect from a car with over 270,000 KM's on it, that is 12 years old. Other than that, engine runs like a million, and all power options (windows/locks/mirrors ect.) work.

Very 1st car I purchased, paint was peeling, muffler falling off. I paid about $1,500 cash when I was 15 and it brought me right up through my jr. year of college when it was replaced b/c mom was getting a new truck, so dad got her old one and I got his. almost 200k and she purred like a kitten. I spent some money to repaint her myself but that's the fun of your first car.

I have personally put the last 85000 hard miles on the car and it run as if it was new. It will outperform many newer cars on any day of the week. The only money i have really had to put in to the car was for normal up keep. I think that anyone that could buy on should. I am going out to buy another one but love this so much i wont trade it in. Anybody that thinks that Japanese made cars are better than American, obviously hasn't driven a pontiac.

I have had this car for 10 years. Bought it with 22,000 miles and it now has 160,000. It has been driven all over the US, including Alaska where I bought, it with minimal expense. I have never had a car that performed this well.

I recently bought my first car. It is a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix STE. This car is a beauty. I couldn't even believe it was a 90'! I feel spoiled by it and I brag to my friends about it.

The Grand Prix has been a very good car. It's very solid for 180,000 miles. Only did an alternator and tie rods, tune-ups,that kind of thing. Good runner and very quiet. Good mileage with a stick. Aging very gracefully and never a surprise.

This is a great vehicle, although the oil tends to leak and the radio tends to burn out easily. These are, however, small problems that are easily and inexpenively fixed. I have had a great time driving this vehicle as my first car, because of its fuel economy and acceleration.

I have had many cars in my day, but my 90 Pontiac Grand Prix is the best I've had. She had 20000 miles when I bought her and now 12 years later and only 165000 I haven't spent hardly anything on her. Total since bought is: replaced alternator, replaced engine gaskets, 4 tuneups, 1 set brakes, 3 sets tires and thats it. Still running original clutch and exhaust. Wish I could find a new one as good. I'll keep her until she or I die, whichever comes first.

This is a great car all around. Reliable, fun to drive, fast--but not too fast!! I have had no major problems with this car except the fuel pump that I've had to replace twice now. I hear that is very common in this car.

If you do touch it the paint might fall off. Apparently they used some new primer on this car that didn't work, so paint starts chipping off like crazy. Car looks ugly as hell! Engine lasted to 244km and seized, brakes were basically useless, and the car seemed very moody. It had good and bad days. And the control display... half the time i didn't knwo how fast i was going! stay away
