1995 Trans Am
This car is wonderful. It has everything you could want in a sports car. A big engine, great exterior looks, an old school exhaust tone. I have had this car since 2005 and haven't had any problems with it besides a speed sensor going out, and a minor oil leak due to the fact that the previous owner didn't tighten the oil pan enough. With improvements has only come better fuel mileage and more horsepower. The car handles extremely well even at high speeds giving a feeling of complete control to the driver. The 5.7 liter LT1 while underpowered if stock, has a lot of potential. It is a hard car to find parts for though, and because the engine area is so crowded it can be a hard car to work on
One BAD Bird
I bought my Trans Am in 2002 and LOVE every time I drive it. It was my first sports car and will hopefully be my last. I put on a Powerdyne super charger, MAC headers, LT4 Hot Cams, 36 lbs fuel injectors, 58mm throttle body, and 3 T.V.s in it. This car has some serious horse power and is a head turner. The tinted windows give it an even better look. I'm so glad I didn't get a Mustang. All my friends like my car and want to buy it. Too bad I'm not selling it. I sure hope that GM is making some new ones even though they say they're not. If you don't have one of these go out and get one. My friends have the mustangs and EVERYONE thinks my car was better even before all the work I did.

TA
I bought this car in 2005 and have had very few problems with it. The car handles amazingly well. The engine runs strong and I haven't experienced any major issues with it yet. The 275 hp LT1 is a little down on horsepower, but that can be solved with just a few small and fairly cheap modifications. In my personal experience with the car, I find the more I do to it, the more it rewards me with better gas mileage, more horsepower, and more fun when I plant the gas pedal. The seats are comfortable even on fairly long drives. If your car has t-tops then I highly recommend getting T-top shades on hot summer days. This car is for sure one that I would like to keep around for the long run.
Best cheap speed around
Best bang for your buck. It is truly the fastest thing out there for the price you pay. I love the way it looks and the performance. My car has blue/green chameleon paint and it is something to see. Not many other cars under 50K can outperform my Trans Am. Corvette comes to mind, but I can't think of any others. Will kick the crap out of mustangs any day of the week and you can take that to the bank. On the flip side, the fuel economy is poor. I get about 16 mpg on premium gas. The back seats do not offer much room at all. In the end, I you are looking for a cruiser and a way not to break the bank then the Trans Am is the car for you. The pros definitely out-weigh the cons.
I love trans ams!
This is an excellent car to drive. I would recommend only to single people or couples, not families. Also, not a great car to lug around your friends. Despite the lack of space this car is definitely worth buying if you love speed. There are areas to improve, but for the cost I really can't give you a good reason not to buy one.
Good eye pleaser and fun !
I have a mostly stock LT1 engine except for aftermarket headers. It's a fun car, and even stock it has descent power. I fell in love with mine and don't think I will ever get rid of it. Some issues have arose though, and there can be some annoying problems. First the dash and interior seem kind of cheap and will break very easily if you let it bake in the sun. Also mine (automatic) has some overheating issues that I can't seem to fix. I guess after looking around online It seems all LT1 engines seem to run hot. The fans wont turn on until its at 226 degrees which is past the halfway point on the engine temp gauge. It seems to overheat when idling, mainly at stop lights but will go back down when you drive. Ive had to replace 4 transmission mounts since I got it. The rubber mount was completely torn in half, so i had another installed. The very first time I floored it, the mount broke again. Finally I ordered a polyurethane transmission mount and engine mounts kit. The new tranny mount is holding up like a champ and seems very strong, but I have yet to install the new motor mounts. Other than heating and driveline problems the car is still awesome! Believe me when I say this car will get you laid lol. Lots of looks from people driving by and prepare for every ricer that tries racing you at every stop light (which I dont care because I always win) . Overall the car is powerful and will throw you back in your seat and has the potential to be a very fast track / weekend car. Im at 146,000 miles and the LT1 is still holding up and can take some abuse. I plan on just running the lt1 till it dies and probably LS swap it .

GREAT CAR...BAD REAR END
Put in an EATON high performance posi traction rear. can beat the car all day.. will never break again. the original Auburn diff. is crap. broke a spider gear on day one. Eaton diff is a vast improvement for great traction and durability. the rest of the car is top notch. only problem was a leaky intake gasket.. $475 to fix. both windows are slow, but work. KYB shocks make a huge difference in handling. that is it.. the rest is stock with 35,000 miles on it. almost forgot.. the hypertech power programmer3 did wonders for acceleration and shift point changes. I recommend it.
Great vehicle
This is absolutely the funnest car i have ever owned. i just bought the car for $2700. It has 122,000 miles and is very good condition for the price i paid. Took it to the drag strip and run 15.3 1/4 mile and the car is BONE STOCK. absolutely nothing done to it but a tune up.(just plugs and wires, and oil change). I absolutely love this car. Very very good power to price ratio. I did have to put a right, rear wheel bearing in but i think that is just because the last owner run it a little hard.
READ THIS!!
These idiots below me who said bad things about this car, don't know what they're talking about! I've had 3 TAs and they've all been great. My 1995 has 95K miles on it and only in the shop for maintenance. As far as other reviews...the bad ones are only from people who don't take care of the car and rag it out every time they drive it. They quit making these to make room for new vehicles (GTO, SSR) not because they are unreliable. Morons often break things or don't take car of their cars and then blame the car when something goes wrong....what a shame. I would recommend a TA to anyone looking for a good fun car with cool looks and great power.
The 95 Purple HAZE
Bought my Purple T.A. for my 40th b-day it is my sixth Trans Am and by far the fastest 375 H.P.It has a few extras, headers, B&M short shift for the six speed, and a custom dash plate that illuminates shades of blue or gray, also (HAD) a K&N cold air filter system which took out my Distributor $1200 bucks on a trip to california when in New Mexico the filter fell out allowing the rain storm I was in to suck water up into the air system causing A TOTAL OF $2300.00 DAMAGE I DO NOT RECOMEND THE K&N COLD AIR FILTER SYSTEM FOR THESE CARS. If you are thinking about one spare no expense. MINES a 95 with only 65,000 miles as my friends say when they get in were is the ejection button and the harness.
Been more flawless than most
Bought as a primary vehicle in 2001, with 44,000 miles on it. Has served excellent now approaching 80,000 miles. My 3rd overall Firebird, and definitely favorite. Plenty of room for my 6'3, and extremely comfortable on long hwy drives. It moved to nice weather only car the past year with only about 3,000 miles put on it, but with no noticable deterioration.
Trans Am
This car is amazing, my Dad bought it in 1995 and after 12years in the house its been mine for 3 years. Its seating position is low and tiring for long rides but a car like this is meant for racing and the seats with regards to that are perfect. I got 305hp stock motor. It isnt driven in winter. It just won't go straight. Too powerful with low end torque. It still has 47670km on it. It's still brand new, black on black. It's a beautiful summer car. I wouldn't sell in another 50years. Nothing is wrong with it. So far the only thing we changed since we had it are the tires and oils. Other than that the original smell is in it. Beautiful car to have.
Love It!
I bought my Trans AM in October and the only thing that had to be replaced so far is a transmission bracket. i love driving my car and would recommend it to anyone who asks! The car had 85,000 miles on it when I bought it and gets around 18 mpg if you keep your foot out of it (which is much easier said than done). One thing that do not like is the lack of aftermarket visual parts for the car.
A Thank You to GMC
With just under 100k miles and 7 years of service, the only major repair to this vehicle has been a front wheel speed sensor with a cost of approximately $500 cost. Normal repairs has been, tires, battery, and serpentine belt. It's a shame that more buyer's weren't drawn to purchase this fine vehicle, since 2002 is it's last year due to poor sales. But recommend that any people interested in a sports vehicle of this type check out any replacement that GM may offer in the near future.
HOLY CRAP!
This is the best car I have ever owned. This is the best car I have ever driven. This is the best car I have ever ridden in. Need I say more? I will! This car has amazing bone snapping torque, face-lifting horsepower, and head turning looks. I have quite a few mods, custom rims and cowl hood. I dont get looks, I get stares. When I pull into the Jiffy lube to get oil changed, the mechanics line up to gawk at the Trans Am. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!!
Best bang for the buck
I love this car! I live in southern California and love to cruise the Pacific Coast Highway with my convertible down!I have pulled up to a stoplight and have girls I don't even know jump into my car. This car has never needed more than typical maintenance. It's an Urban Rollercoaster. There is nothing better than to pull up to some raced out Honda, put down my top, blast "Born in The U.S.A." by Bruce Springstien, rev my engine and blow the other son of a b!@ch away... EVERY time.
95 t/a
This car is great I bought from A guy in Florida, who recently moved here (pa.). Body is in excellent shape to date. People ask me all the time is that a new car? No, I tell them it's a 95 (8 years old) and they say "NO WAY". Overall I like the car but it does have it's quirks, I owned 3 GM F-Bodies (85 camaro 2.8, 84 z28 - 5.0 h.o., 95 t/a 5.7L)and have the same complaints. Rattles and creaks everwhere, power windows are slow and always need adjusting, rides poorly on a bumpy road (shakes and rattles). No good in snow even with the posi, front air dam is to low, it bottoms out on almost anything.
Can You Say Bye Bye?
I bought this almost 10yrs ago, and I'm still in love. The power, the performance and handling, you can not ask for better. It will blow the doors off on just about the road today. This car ain't a child's toy. Seats are great, but don't have a bad back. Hard to get out of.
Rad T/A
A+ car all the way, Pontiac knows how to build them for sure!
The affordable car with a big honking V8
Overall it's the best buy of any of America's cheap horsepower. The 4- speed automatic is top-notch, but I would recommend the 6-speed manual over the auto. It's LT1 V8 engine has enough power for anyone except John Force. You couldn't ask for a better factory suspension, it has extremely good 4-disc ABS brake system that stops on a dime and gives you 3 cents back. The car has some weak points though. The quality of some of the build parts are questionable. The optispark ignition system is junk, but it works better than any OEM ignition put in a car in 50 years. The power window motors are prone to just craping out.
Best F-Body I've owned yet
My 3rd F-body, replacing a 1991. Excellent overall vehicle for one person (two if you do not count entering and exiting the vehicle). The LT1 is still very strong at 87,000 miles without ever having consumed a drop of oil. Extremely comfortable seats, and very usable in the wet or light snow with the traction control. Problem areas: Driver side power window motor replaced at 60,000 miles, tear in the seat leather where it meats the hard backing, and a crack in the defroster vent during very cold weather. Still on original clutch with plenty of lining left.
Rock solid...
This car has been rock solid. I had an after market krager wheel break causing a spin on the highway which managed to mess up the rear suspension and the front susp but the car remains solid, performance is excellent and I've managed 29mpg on the freeway with the 6 speed manual. Excellent daily driver and excellent performance at a bargain price.
Keeps on Ticking...
Well this is an update to a prior review of mine. I've owned this car for almost 3 years now. So far my list of repairs that are not routine are: Headlight Motor, Wheel Speed Sensor, Pinion Seal and a water pump. All in all not bad at all for having owned it for 3 years and put 35,000 miles on the car. It has been far more reliable than my mazda 626. Nearing 100,000 miles now and there is more windnoise and rattles than there used to be. I'm not looking forward to having to sell it in spring of 07. If you're looking for an F body buy one that has been well maintained. If taken care of they're very reliable, but if you get a bad one your life will be a livin hell as many can attest to.
Very pleased with this car
I purchased a '95 T/A convertible new in '95, and it has been a terrific car. It now has 108,000 miles, and outside of normal maintenance over the past 10 years, it has only required a battery, water pump, fuel gauge and O2 sensor (due to dirt in the fuel line caused by running the car out of gas).
Cheap fun
I've had this car for 15yrs still can't stop looking at it, the acceleration never fails to put a smile on my face. With its head turning looks and scintillating performance think I'll keeper. Love the car!

good car
this is a relatively good car. i felt that the exceleration could be better but for a $10,000 car you can't complain. and you know its not a corvette or anything.
cool pontiacs
this car is cool to drive in the rain the tires spun really tight.
Not enough Power
i have found the firbird to be a dissapointment, if you are looking for something that goes, buy a trans-am, pay the extra money, i wish i did.
1995 T/A Onvert.
Outstanding performance and reliability. Eats up front brakes regularly but absolutely no mechanical problems over the eight years of ownership.
T/A through the lenses of 2016 Mustang GT owner
I purchased my 1995 Trans Am in 2001. It got me to work and back and never let me down. After 302,000 miles I have replaced two water pumps and two clutches. Not bad for a $10,000 initial investment. The paint faded when I moved close to the ocean, then let my son drive it. It needs a complete overhaul now. Compared to the 2016 Mustang... it’s a dog. But, when I first got the T/A , their wasn’t a Mustang that could outperform her other than a Cobra. I’m sure with a new suspension and a blower the T/A could give my new GT a run for the money (in a straight line). The independent rear suspension in the Mustang outperforms the T/A in the corners. I would recommend to anyone getting a first hot rod.

Firebird
I haven't enjoyed owning my car at all. Winter driving has been absolute hell and i believe it should be illegal to drive Firebirds in the snow!!!
