For some reason this vehicle always gets underrated by the supposed experts. Despite that, sales figures indicate many consumers would disagree as the Rouge has become a very popular seller. This 2017 SL is my second Rouge having stepped up from the 2015 SV. This has lots more tech and safety features. Simple little things like the divide-n-hide rear storage make this a pleasure loading groceries as it helps keep them in place. The ride is superb for a short wheelbase vehicle and the creature comforts numerous. The all around camera system is a plus but the image could be better. The build seems pretty good and the materials better than expected for the price category it's in. Gas consumption is quite good averaging 27/28 MPG for mostly country driving. The engine is somewhat underpowered, the CVT works hard at keeping it in the right RPM range for max power when needed. That becomes one of the knocks against the vehicle. Personally I didn't buy the vehicle to haul a trailer or for its street rod capability. It's just a great family hauler that does just about everything well. UPDATED 0CT 2018 - Happily my opinion of this vehicle hasn't changed. Admittedly more power would increase the fun factor, that would make a good vehicle even better! Update Apr 2019 - Happily my opinion hasn't changed, the Rouge is just a great all round vehicle. Can't say enough about the convenience of the divide-n-hide rear storage, groceries stay in place, no spilt milk as the say. There is room for improvement, dislike the location of buttons on the lower dash. The seat heater switch makes you take your eyes off the road to use it. Love the all around camera but the image isn't that good. OK so it's not a 10, it still beats most of its competitors. UPDATE: Oct 2019 - Still pleased with the vehicle, actually prefer driving it better than our second vehicle a high powered sport sedan. The Rouge fits our needs to a tee - quiet, comfortable, great storage, all around usefulness. My 2nd favorite vehicle of all time, first choice a 1975 Chevy station wagon with 3 way tail gate.

UPDATE, I no longer have this vehicle I lost it on bankruptcy. But I do have a 2020 ford escape that i got after my bankruptcy and i love it.if your in the market for a vehicle then i would highly recommend the new Ford escape it's very nice fun to drive and get excellent fuel economy.,and it comes standard with a lot of safety tech,I traded my 2015 altima s for the 2017 rogue s with the 3rd row seats family package it comes with the run flat tires, and nissan dropped the 3rd seat for 2018 its no longer available glad i got it when i did this is definitaly my last new vehicle.the rogue is only one of 2 in class vehicles that offer a 3rd row seat. I got magnetic black metallic with black interior. I did not want to buy any more new cars but could use the room for my family so I decided to buy one last new vehicle that has more room and cargo versatility . The rogue s comes with all the features you need power accessories, keyless entry, alarm, camera, bluetooth streaming, satellite rado,CD player, cruise control, and it also has active ride control, active trace control, active engine brake, tire pressure monitoring with tire pressures display. And easy fill tire alert thinks when you have right amount of air in tire,The interior is very nice soft touch materials, And it also has a eco and sport driving mode, eco is for better fuel economy. Its very roomy and very good gas mileage it gets about same fuel economy as altima. One of my average fuel economy's is 26.3 but the current is always different I have gotten up to 37.6 but haven't been on interstate out of state yet i expect to get in 30s. . Got a 3.9 interest rate so the loan I will get paid pretty quick ,gonna pay ahead extra and get it paid off earlier. Update, still Loving my rogue there isn't anything that I don't like about it, it gets good gas mileage, there is fuel economy 1 and 2 the first one says average of 27 and the other changes every time you drive and turn it off and it has gotten up to 41 miles a gallon on economy 2. and it's the base model it has all the features i need but mine don't have all the extra technology features like emergency braking and other stuff, I don't want that extra technology in mine it just stuff that be expensive to fix later, the base model has the regular key and my rogue is rare it has the 3rd row seats which they are not making anymore. UPDATE!!! No longer have this suv I lost it on my Bankruptcy, but I do have a 2020 ford escape se and love it, got lifetime warranty on the engine and transmission and some other parts free

Great SUV

I really like my Rogue a lot. Wasn't expecting it to be my favorite test drive, but it was. Rides great, quiet on the road, feels very solid, connected with the road, and upscale. Gas mileage rating is spot on. After 4000 miles I'm averaging exactly the rated 27 combined mpg and I drive combined city and highway. Actually about 1 mpg better than my previous midsize car was so I'm not complaining for an AWD SUV. The CVT also turned out to be better than expected. Easily and seamlessly compensates for hills on the interstate without hunting for gears - just finds it sweet spot on rpm's. Transmission can be a little slow to respond at times but has no trouble getting up to,speed if you give it a little extra gas when called for. Reviewer says it's slow, but a 0-60 time of 8.6 is hardly lethargic for the class of vehicle and given that it's just a 4 cylinder engine and it's class leading gas mileage, I have no issues with the performance. Sun and Sound package on the SV model is great. Instrumentation and technology also very nice. Plenty of room for passengers and versitile cargo arrangement capabilities. Overall, an excellent vehicle. I have no regrets purchasing it and would do so again today.

So you have read the NEGATIVE REVIEWS also !!!

This is where we are coming from I own a 2003 Nissan Frontier (135k) a small pickup. Because of its reliably and only having to do regular maintenance, this went a long way in our decision making of buying a USED CERTIFIED 2017 Rouge SV (31K) for my wife. Also our 2001 Toyota Camry (193k) had paint problems and falling into the car was not fun any more. New or Used car buying today from a Dealer is not what you would expect as a pleasurable experience its eats up almost a full day of looking then test driving then negotiating then extended warranties and finally financing to say the least. Stressed yet you will be. Suggest, you do a lot of your home work on line and make copies because the old bate and switch is still alive and kicking. YES we read the NEGATIVE REVIEWS and ALSO WATCHED YOU TUBE about the Rogues POOR ACCELERATION, CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, AC not doing its job and a few others. WELL we are here to tell you coming from a 4 cyl Camry that you have to turn the AC OFF to climb a hill. This Rogue 2017 is the BEST diving experience we have had in a very long time. ACCELERATION is NO problem, off the line and passing is GREAT and the CVT has a build in side shiftier to drop down a gear plus you can feel it shift automatically like the old style transmissions that you maybe been used to. Took trip to Vegas, 7 hours home in 109 degrees and the AC once it cooled the SUV was just fine and the SEATS of MEMORY FOAM are the best we have sat in for comfort. At 34 mph Highway 30 mph around town what more do you want out of a 3400 lb CROSSOVER SUV. Some reviews call the Rouge a old persons SUV for long trips, because of its comfortable driving, is that a BAD reputation to have or what, we are old people. There is so much HI TECH and a lot more to come I don't know where to begin. The owners manual is over a inch thick. We love the BLIND SPOT NOTIFICATION LIGHTS and BEEP also REAR CAMERA and a STEERING WHEEL FULL OF BUTTONS that we have not completely figured out yet. HIGH SAFETY RATING CURTAIN AIR BAGS, ANTI SWAY CONTROL AND if the SUV starts to tip THE BREAKS on ONE SIDE ARE COMPUTER APPLIED TO CORRECT THE TIPPING. Remember the old days of HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES TIPPING OVER, I do. OK all this TECH DOES HAVE ME CONCERNED ABOUT OVERALL TOTAL COST and MAINTENANCE but all your vehicles today are this way and its going to get a whole lot worse in the future. My back yard mechanic days are done I guess. ADJUSTABLE REAR CARGO SHELVES PLUS FOLD DOWN ADJUSTABLE REAR SEATS, REAR PASSENGER HEATING and COOLING. This Rogue is classed as a COMPACT SUV its larger than our old MID SIZE Camry or seems so and its the only NEGATIVE my wife gives it, she says its TO BIG. Come on its again CLASSED AS a COMPACT SUV, you check it out. Let me leave you with THIS check out the NHTSA.gov web site on SAFETY AND RECALLS also CARCOMPLAINTS.com. TEST DRIVE the Rouge, Honda, Toyota, Subaru SUVs and you decide. Best of luck to you and remember it just gets more expensive from this point. BTOG

Never Buy a Nissan Rogue Even If Given For Free

I bought a brand new 2017 Rogue with Technology package(MSRP 36000) and from the time I bought I made multiple trips to dealership for replacing the brake pads, rotors, struts, suspensions. After multiple trips these issues are finally solved. Now I am facing another issue. My car shudders when at low speeds and if I remove my foot of gas pedal just before the 2nd transmission shift. Nissan sent a Technician from company to check it and what they say is that "It is as it is designed". I don't understand if Nissan built a $36000 car for which you can feel all the shuddering, transmission shifting, noise from transmission while driving with zero drive comfort. They just got my money and gave me junk of metal. I never had the feeling of driving a brand new car. Always had to go to dealership for one or other issues. And even after many, the company is hesitant to accept the issues and wouldn't want to replace or buy back my car. Another hazardous issue is the AEB suddenly gets engaged without any reason while on a express way when driving at 70MPH. And for every thing the company has only 1 response "It is working as designed". I don't understand what they designed, what they produced and what they are selling.
