Amazing!!
We have had our Maxima for a while now. I was originally looking at the Accord, but after test driving my friend's, I scrapped the Honda idea. I had no idea it had that much power! The car is a rocketship when you want it to be. It is approaching 100k, and I have never had any problems with it. I am looking forward to having many more years of fun. It is a great car that can easily fit 4 adults and has a ton of trunk space for all of your stuff. I absolutely love my Maxima, and would buy it again in a heartbeat!
Sweeeet -Maximas are chick magnets too
True story, I recently purchasd my Maxima SE, Silver on Frost (light gray), very beautiful car. I stop by a light and heared a horn. i took a look around and there were two ladies eyeing my car. I waved and turned around, then they honked their horn again, I looked again and they were asking for my number. Being recently engaged and all I had to do the right thing, smile, say sorry I can't and move on. I can't believe cars can be chick magnets (thought it was only in movies). My last Acura 1.6 el didn't work this kind of magic for me.
Engine says all
I had the 03 Maxima for a couple of weeks now. I like everything about the car. The SE with the Titanium package is both fun to drive and provides comfort and style. I am currently getting 22mpg and that is mostly highway miles. I expected closer to the higher end, 26. Maybe that will get better as the engine is broken in.
The Max
Excellent car. Well worth the money.
03 SE Glacier Pearl
This is my third Max (previously owned 93 GXE and 98 SE). Love the Xenon headlamps, roominess, power and ammenities. I hope this vehicle is as dependable as the other Maxs I have owned. This is the main reason I checked out the Maxima a third time.
Combination of Comfort and Performance
The Maxima is not for everyone but for drivers who want performance and comfort at a reasonable price, it is a great choice. With 255 horsepower, 17 inch wheels, xenon headlights and an extremely comforable interior, it compares better with BMW and Acura than Toyota and Honda. I will not argue that a BMW 330 handles better and that an Acura 3.2 TL offers more luxury but both will cost at least $6,000 more than the Maxima. The Maxima is also faster than either of them. If you don't want another boring family sedan (Accord or Camry) and you don't want to spend the money for a BMW, you need to test drive a Maxima.
fear
We live in fear since buyng ths vehichle. We were not told that the headlights ,which cost $2000 apiece were being stolen in droves. You replace them they get stolen. Great car if you live in it and never leave it anyplace unattended
The MAX! by D.B.
This car is a rocket! Very fun to drive. After driving 2001 4cyl accord it's no wonder. Had to get the 2003. Have you seen the size of the butt on the 2004?? Cloth seating is very comfortable. Even base Stereo is impressive. Didn't like Nissan's option packages. You can't choose single options like traction control & side Air bags without the whole shooting match. Cannot beat this car for the price!
Great car!
Just finished putting 1100 miles on my new Max. I traded in a 1998 Audi A4. Though not as nimble due to the lack of independent rear suspension, the Maxima is a fun car to drive with plenty of power and decent handling. How can you go wrong with a 255 hp car that can smoke most other vehicles on the road, yet carry a family of four comfortably? Plus you'll get a great deal on a 03 model now that they are trying to push the 04's.
gle review
Flawless in interior design, engine performance and braking. Very comfortable on long trips. Ergonomics are well thought out. Pleasure to drive on those looong highway stretches. Adaquate stereo, storage space. Xenon bulbs are a dream. Incredible value for money. Selected this product after testing Acura CL, Toyota Avalon, Lexus ES 300, BMW 3 Series, and Volvo S60.
Bang for Buck
Hated '04 styling. Picked up used (13K) '03. All options incl. Nav. Potenzas hydroplane. Suspension and low profile tires are great for smooth roads. Potholes knock you silly. Squeaks and rattles down the road? Also disappointed with the BOSE stereo. Cranked up full volume, still not enought when windows and sunroof are open. My '92 SE had a better BOSE system. I'm still debating whether the nav system is useful or a toy. It seems shoehorned in and having to do A/C controls on the screen seems an afterthought when they took the dash real estate away from the standard controls. I think the dash looks better without the nav system.
2003 max
It's powerful, stylish, has a lot of nice features, and is reliable. Best car for the money. The mistake people make is when they try to compare the Maxima with the Camary, Accord, Or Mitsubishi. It is in a higher class, a head above the previous mentioned. The only things I would change are: It needs a telescoping steering wheel,I'm 6'5" and my seat is pushed all the way back. The steering wheel is to far away. Also, the exterior paint seems to chip easily.
Happy Man
this is the fastest car i have ever own I had a 450 Mercedes and 2 Trans Ams. the most comfortable and quiet cars. it is majestic Blue and beatiful. the Steering is a llittle light in drive. but drop it don to third and hold on for a sure footed great handle super fast gricery getter head turning time!!! i love it. the toys the bose the compass the outside temp the climae control. oh the leather .......WOW. NISSAN WHY DI YOU MAKE THAT 2004. THE 2003 HAS IT ALL!!1
Woooooow!
The is an awesome car!! I think Nissan nailed it! It has the looks, power, luxury & it sooo fun to drive & this makes it better than the competition. 80k miles and only requires regular maintence. It has the quality & reliability that rivals that best. This car is truly in a class of it's own. Would definitely buy again.

Still ticking
Great reliable car - been driving it since 2003 - it's showing its age for sure, but it just keeps going. I thought I'd have to replace it before now, but haven't had any major problems - nothing that would make me consider trading it in.

dissapointed after reading reviews
Coach work very poor Door gasketing an after thought Power steering turning radius too large Rides hard crowded interior very overpriced for the quality A pre priced car Windows shake when half opened Body makes creeking noise when going slowly over pavement.
Very Bumpy Drive!
I am a Maxima fan, however, the 2003 SE model rides extremely bumpy and although I love the car, I am almost sorry I bought it because the ride feels like a very cheap car and I'm suprised and disappointed. I have tried to get the car checked and lowered air pressure in the tires but when the car hits even the slightest bump it feel terrible. I also find the car handles terrible in rain and snow.
Headlights
Given what I know now, I would have never purchased this car. The headlights are so easy to steal and so costly to replace. Mine were stolen in less than a minute--right in front of me. The thieves popped them out with a screwdriver causing significant damage to the hood and bumper. This is a dangerous car. I worry about my safetly all the time. Nissan has not been sensitive to concerns. Yes, they have recalled the car to install the brackets on the headlights, but they still can be stolen.
Bad Mistake
I had problems from the word "GO" and I will never buy another Nissan car again. Too bad Nissan Corp. can not take the car back.
Mediocre Maxima
I like the styling and performance ( acceleration/handling/brakes ) but the interior is sub par. I have a dash that rattles/squeaks and the seats are cheap. I dont have the Bose stereo so I installed a sub-woofer which helps immensely. The Idler pulley bearing went out so the dealership loaned me a Lincoln LS. For the same money ( $18,000 ) I could have gotten a 2003/2002 Lincoln LS instead of the Maxima SE. I made a mistake. The Lincoln is twice the car as my 2003 Maxima SE. I am now shopping for a nice 2002/2003 Lincoln LS with low miles. My only concern is that the Nissan is probably a more dependable car than the Lincoln. Im going to take the chance because the LS is WAY nicer
