this was my first car it had 90k at the beginning. I drove it all over the place and still do. It's alright in the gas i have to fill it up every 5 days (i drive the car a lot) but i have done a lot of repairs in the past 4 years, timing belt, water pump , brakes, battery has been replaced. It all happened in the past 4 years. It has 160 k check engine light came on don't think is worth fixing it, also air bag light came up 2. Ive invested so much $$$ in this car when is totally not worth it, it has last this long just because of the repairs. Back seats are uncomfortable. times are hard and had no option to repair it. best advice don't buy it!

I got my Mystique in Aug 2000. It had 14K miles. Since then it has been 100% reliable and a joy to drive. It currently has 60K miles & the only mechanical problem was when the O2 & fuel sensors had to be replaced Sept 03. I drove it through the worst road conditions I have seen in Jan 02. 12 hours to travel 400 miles, counted 38 accidents, but my car didn't slide once. Had a bad accident with my beloved car last Wed and it may be totaled, but it saved me and I was able to walk away.

Purchased car from dealer used as a fleet vehicle with 24K miles. Car ran great up until '03 with barely 90K miles transmission completely failed! Tranny man tells me "I see alot of these things with exactly same milage... transmission is full of weak parts" Had him put in used mystique tranny with 60K on it. Only got 12K more miles off it. Ford has lost me for good. I will stick to Honda/Toyota from now on.

I bought the car with 15,000 miles on it 3.5 years ago and today it is junk. It was a constant nightmare. The timing belt, sensors, struts, spoiler, overhead interior lights, broken power windows, and numerous other electrical problems ended up costing a fortune in repairs. Last week cracked gaskets enabled antifreeze to leak into the oil, which totally destroyed the engine. For a car with slightly less than 90,000 miles on it (that has been regularly serviced throughout the years), it ended up being a major disaster. PLEASE think twice if you are considering the "Mistake" as my friends have come to call it.

Man i thought this car was gonna be the bomb when i bought it, but it turned up to be a disaster. I paid 4000 dlls for it and i had to waste about 2200 more in the a.c., transmission, and several electric shorts that happened in the first 3 months that i had it. I gotta give it to the car that it was pretty fun to drive, because you could go about 100 and it wouldn't even tremble. But after about 3 months of 100 mph drives, the poor car ended up in the shop with damage of about 1500 dlls. if you want good advice, take it from me: never, if you can help it, buy a Mercury Mistique. it will cost you!!!!!!!!!!
