Well balanced car

No car is perfect universally because we have different needs. I have a 2018 model and just bought a 2021 for my wife. We have 2 almost identical cars because GLC300 fits our needs perfectly. I’m 6’ and have a kid 5’8”, another kid in a huge car seat, and GLC300 has enough room for our family of four. It’s fast enough for merging and taking over on highway and nimble on local roads, and if you’re not in a hurry it easily return gas mileage over 25 mpg and over 30 on highways. Some people also say their other brand cars are fast and nimble, what I mean here is a level above. I had a GLK 350 for 6 years and had no problems of any sort, and my 2018 GLC trouble free, too. So I would like to say GLC and its predecessor GLK are reliable. I researched almost every mainstream brand before invested in 2 GLCs, and found that 1) Toyotas are having 8-speed transmission problems and Hondas infotainment system problems and Subarus braking failures and GLCs and predecessor GLKs no big complaints and are not “money pit”. 2) outdoor price is MSRP, don’t over pay. If other brands carry equivalent equipments as GLC, they are most likely at the same price or even more. Buy prepaid maintenance and that will bring down the maintenance cost to $500/10k miles. You’re driving a luxury compact so it’s acceptable even it costs at most $300 more that a Toyota every 10k miles and GLC IS luxurious.

A level up

If you are in the market for this type of automobile, you should know that you have many options within this price range. The history and prestige that come with a Mercedes Benz is hard to describe. Since our 1st Mercedes, my wife and I have had a BMW and 2 Audis. The difference is in the small details. Before we got our GLC 300, we considered the X3 and Q5. We liked the exterior styling of all 3 SUV's but the interior is where you spend your time. As soon as we sat in the GLC 300, we felt different. The interior is so classy and a level above the competition. The MBUX in the 2020 is amazing, so easy to use and customize, not to mention voice controls of most convenience functions are a bonus. No one needs a system to turn on your heated seats or heated steering wheel but it is a wonderful touch. A few things that I think make the Mercedes a level up: 1. Controls/knobs feel better, higher quality. If they aren't metal, they sure feel like it. 2. Rearview camera is not exposed to weather so it stays clean by closing when not in use. A huge plus to me. 3. Exhaust tips are not real which I thought was cheap at first but after washing it a few times, I now realize they dont get sooty. Soot is a fact of life with turbo cars but this model always looks like new! The ride quality of the GLC 300 is amazing, you can cruise at highway speeds and barely notice any road noise. The Burmester sound system is better than the Bang & Olufsen system in our Audi. Owning and driving a Mercedes is something special. I guess that's why there are so many songs referencing the brand. I have tried BMW and Audi and have no complaints about either brand, but they are not as luxurious as Mercedes. The 2020 GLC 300 has confirmed this opinion for me. Update after 4 years: still an amazing vehicle. Just turned 30k miles and the only had 2 issues. 1. No throttle response which occurred in a parking lot. Idled into a parking spot and shut off. Restarted and issue resolved. Dealer did do a computer refresh for TSB. Driver seat tex material started to crack between the perforations about 6 months ago. The seat material was replaced under warranty. I just replaced the factory run flats with non run flat tires since I have the spare tire option and what a difference! Feels like I'm driving on pillows.

Wasn’t really looking to buy, but in checking out and testing the new 2020 GLC 300 recently, I was taken aback by the luxury and performance this vehicle provided. Perfect size/fit, very agile/nimble and its look and styling is the best on the market.

I got ur as a birthday gift for my husband Abd he absolutely loves it! Very high tech and high quality interior. I’ve shopped across Porsche Macan, BMW X3 and Audi Q5. Nothing compares to the GLC300. They all seems behind in tech and the quality of interior.

2021 not as good as the 2018!

We have been driving MBs (E, C, SL, GLK, and GLC) since 1986, and always have been happy with our purchases. Looking at all the changes coming up in new cars, we didn't purchase in 2018, we leased a 2018 GLC for 3 years. We loved the car so much that we decided to lease the 2021 when the old lease expired. I don't know if it is because of the pandemic, chip shortage, or what, but this car is - to us - not as good as the 2018! Both cars were ordered with the AMG night package, specifically to get the oversize cross drilled front disk brakes - never cared about the plastic body trim modifications. The 2021 was advertised in the official order form we filled out at the dealership as having these brakes as part of the night package. Surprise - despite still being advertised at the dealership as having these oversize rotors and calipers, the 2021 came with the standard brakes. ALL the 2021 AMG/Night Packages for 2021 that we saw at the dealership dropped the oversize brakes, but kept the price as if they were included. Bait and switch - if your order form says something is included in the price, it should be there. Of course, the car arrived just as the lease ended on the 2018, so it was shut up and take it, or refuse it and pay $500 at the lease end on the 2018 for not leasing a new one. And MBUSA Leasing was a discourteous mess. After we had the new car, the kept calling us and saying we had missed the final payment on the 2018, had not turned in the car, and threatened our credit rating - despite our offering to send them copies of the paper work showing the turn-in date at the dealership and having made the first lease payment on the 2021!!! We had to threaten legal action if they messed up our credit rating before they would listen - It took a week to straighten out, with no apology or anything from MB Financial. And the surprises kept coming: The rear cargo area floor in 2018 was carpeted fiberglass(?) with a hold open hook and strap, and a foam insulation pad on the bottom, apparently to cut down noise. On the 2021 the strap, hook, and foam pad are missing - on ours, and on all the ones we looked at in dealerships. The 2018 had seat back release buttons on the rear door openings as well as in the cargo area - for 2021 they are missing from the door openings, replaced with a cheap plastic plug that does nothing. And the fuel economy is about 1-2 miles per gallon WORSE on the 2021 than on the 2018, for both hiway and city driving! If you never owned a 2018 GLC, you will love the 2021. If you did, you are going to notice the missing conveniences and essentials - at a higher cost. We ordered the 2021 with the Bermester stereo, and that has been a delight. We also ordered the front window noise insulation, and that seems to cut wind noise on the car. The 2021 seems to ride a bit smoother on all suspension settings than the 2018, maybe they changed tire brands? All told, we still like the car - just not as much as the 2018. But given the treatment by MBUSA financial, and the $2000+ AMG night package rip off in describing something on their order sheet that they never provided, after 35 + years of driving MBs, when this lease ends, so will our relationship with Mercedes.

The seats are the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced. My wife and I shopped for comfortable seats due to the amount of miles we put on a vehicle. We’ve owned Honda’s, Toyota’s, Chevrolet, Buick, Ford and BMWs. None compare to this amazing vehicle. The tech is also off the hook. It’s the most technologically advanced car ever and the power is amazing. I can’t wait to drive it again.

Severe safety issue

For 45 years I have been a loyal Mercedes-Benz owner - mostly E Class vehicles with the exception of my 2017 and 2020 GLCs. The 2020 has a severe safety issue which may cause injury or death. When the cruise Control is set it automatically changes the set speed as the road speed limit changes. A wonderful feature however, the GLC senses the exit ramp speed limit as I travel The highway and changes the cruise Control to the exit ramp speed limit. So, traveling at a speed set to 70 mph on the interstate, I pass by an exit and the cruise Control changes to 30 mph and applies the brakes. Vehicles behind me screech their tires, blow their horns and make unmentionable comments and gestures as they pass. A recalL is needed before a catastrophic incident occurs.

I just bought a 2021 GLC 300. Was told that due to lack of chips, the car did not have the MB navigation so I would have to use my Apple CarPlay with navigation. This means I have to plug my iphone into the port each and every time I get in and out of the car. The graphics are not as good as what I have seen from MB. Also, lacking many of the voice commands through Hey Mercedes again due to the chip shortage. All in all, the car rides beautifully and the seats are very comfortable. The engive seems a little loud but noise is minimal.

Really a great car. Was looking to downsize from my larger Chevy Tahoe (which I loved)..... and the GLC 300 AMG trim night package was the right fit. An awesome vehicle all around. Body style is great, handling is superb...... and the technology on the vehicle is unbelievable! Really impressed by this fine driving machine!

I’ve been spoiled by the smooth ride and responsive handling of this SUV. Having previously owned a 4Runner I can confidently say this Mercedes Benz GLC 300 4Matic exceeds in delivering a superb driving experience. The cargo area of the MB is a bit smaller than the former but is adequate for most of my needs. The interior is well appointed, the 4 cylinder turbo engine delivers exceptional speed and responsiveness, and the dealership customer service is astounding. I’m definitely happy with the vehicle.

Comparing with 2020 Audi Q5 and BMW X3, I found the GLC 300 to have the best exterior and interior style, comfort, infotainment. Though the BMW has better handling and driver dynamics, the interior buttons on the dash and steering looks and feels so cheap and outdated. The current Audi Q5 looks old and boring; the virtual cockpit is nice if the map interface was more modern like Google Maps. The augmented reality feature is the GLC is leaps and bound ahead.

This car is beautiful inside and out. The grill of this vehicle plus the 20 inch tires along with the black and silver rims give this vehicle a very sporty look. These were extra and not all these vehicles have that. The inside has a beautiful black leather interior. It has a sun roof for those nice sunny days. The seats have seat warmers for the cold ones! It has a feature for those long distance drives at night where high and low beams change automatically. You can change the lighting inside depending what mood you are in or want to be in. You can ask Mercedes to change the temp, change the station, call a loved one, etc. This vehicle drives like a dream, even through bad weather!

Unreliable / I’ve owned 9 and this is the last

My vehicle has 8800 miles on it. Check engine light came on at 8500 miles and I made it to a dealer, where they diagnosed a faulty transmission control unit. Since it’s not in stock, I’ll have to call ahead to another dealer to get it fixed. When they did the A service (early), they overfilled the oil, so now the car smokes like a chimney but I was told it will burn off. I thought a new Benz would be great for a cross country road trip. Instead I’m discovering that the GLC was a bad purchase decision. If you’re reading this, know that we’ve owned 9 Mercedes over the last few decades. And this will be the last.

Mercedes knows there is a problem with some of these cars slamming on the brakes when sensing a shadow (such as an overpass on the freeway) but says they don't have a solution and tells you to keep driving the car. No option to turn the feature off, no fix, no offer of a courtesy car.

Cons: Transmission can be a bit lackadaisical in Comfort mode. Build quality inside could be better. I have some squeaks, creaks, and rubbing sounds and I only have 10k miles on it. Run-Flats - mess with ride quality Seats - I prefer the sportier seats that come with the AMG trim (had a C 300 with AMG trim so I’m aware of the difference) Pros: Looks, very nice interior Seats - I know, I know, but they are still fairly comfortable Tech, safety systems work very well, love the augmented reality navigation Sport & Sport + modes liven up the drive. HANDLING!!! This thing handles very well. Steering is very precise. Feels solid and planted. I’ve never been an SUV fan due to the uneasy feeling of the ride height in turns. I know they don’t roll as easy as they used to. However, I feel very confident driving this thing in turns. I would definitely consider another one when it’s time.

This is a great SUV. Very comfortable. Handles great. Good visibility all around. Good storage and room for luggage when travelling. Back seat is somewhat cramped for adults. Gas mileage is good (18-23+ mpg) but the engine requires premium fuel. Overall I am very happy with this SUV and glad I bought it.

Glad I chose the GLC 300 Mercedes

Recently I bought a 2020 GLC 300 with very low miles (5900). I'm the second owner and very happy with the car. My BMW X-3 was stolen in November and I needed a replacement car. After driving Lexus/12 years, BMW/3 years I chose a Mercedes, which I used to drive in the mid 1990's for 6 years. There's something about the Mercedes that makes me feel very safe, visibility is great, technology and instruments are easy to use. I especially like the parking assist, Apple Car Play feature and ease of the instrumentation.

We have two Glcs. They are very nicely styled and handle very well. However, the agilty control suspension is below standard on bumpy roads. The battery capacity seems okay, since we get far less battery power warnings than in the beginning. Mbux is disappointing from the angle that most of the info, even the radio handling, is only indirectly available. You almost always always have to press something one or more times to get access. Further, I feel really f-ed by Mercedes for de-activating most of the connectivity options that mbux could offer. Fuel consumption on borh cars is 60% more than rated on paper.

Don’t try to turn it into a sports car. Base 18” wheels and it rides like a Mercedes should and is the quietest cabin. Interior quality is nice and sound from the Sennheiser stereo is awesome

I’ve been in love with Mercedes cars since high school and I love my GLC. The details throughout the cabin really make you feel like you’re in a private jet and the engine provides smooth and quiet acceleration even when you push it. The only downsides I’d mention are that I think the digital gauge cluster and adaptive cruise control should’ve been standard features, the latter would’ve helped it to standout even more.

After our BMW X3 was hit and totaled we purchased the GLC 300 4Matic. We love it! The interior of the GLC is gorgeous. The interactive infotainment system is easy to use and learn. The only thing the X3 had that was better than GLC was more rear cargo space. My wife and I are very happy with this purchase.

The car itself is good. Good mechanically, and good quality. The driver assist functions are poor to downright dangerous - I’ve ended up turning most of them off where possible. The navigation has some cool features, but the maps behind them are not very accurate, and updating them is hard (not possible for me so far). The voice recognition is a joke - it doesn’t even recognize the word cancel.

Love my new GLC 300. All the new bells and whistles make this choice first in its class. Comfortable seating, new MBUX infotainment is legit. Nice upgrades to cabin and the engine seems to run smoother.

It has the appearance of an SUV but it’s not really that spacious if you compare it with let’s say Lexus RX 330 which I had previously. However, I love it because it’s not so big to drive around especially I’m always alone in my car. The interior is fantastic. Mileage is better than my previous car.

We purchased this car to satisfy our need to zip around town delivering kids to sporting events, clubs and other activities. We still wanted style and a smooth Mercedes ride without the big car. We used to believe we needed a huge SUV to make that happen but it simply isn't the case. We easily fit all of their sporting equipment into the back and running around is so much easier and more fun in a slightly smaller car. Feels like it will be a great Colorado ski car this winter too.

Unless you have your heart set on a vehicle with the MB name, you should look elsewhere for comparable or better technology and fuel economy at a much lower price. Touchscreen is difficult and finnicky to operate. Plastic used on various external components such as side mirror housings, brake lights, etc seems very thin and flimsy. Fuel economy is disappointing. Brakes often squeal when wet. Lacking practical feature of hands-free liftgate as a standard feature. Very sorry that mine didn't come with that from factory; told could not be installed aftermarket; only would have cost $100 from factory; yet they charge $500 for a superfluous lighted MB front grill star insignia! Vehicle is more show than substance. Vehicle is being leased. After only 4 months, can't wait for lease to end!

I test drove it yesterday. When I accelerated up a ramp to 80 mph then let go of the gas to coast, weird why it took a while before the rpm dropped. Hard acceleration 0-30 mph but it couldn't figure out which gear to be in. Turbo lag under hard acceleration.

First off, this is a small car. Not tiny, probably not good for a family of 4, but good for 2. Very adjustable seats, but not as comfortable as my Murano. Pretty quiet for a 4-banger. The biggest surprise was the handling, this thing really squats down in the corners and gives you a really confident feeling. A bit cramped up front, it has good cupholders but when they're in use there's no room for phones. Only one USB. Nearly worthless touchpad, but there are plenty of other ways to control the vehicle. The voice control system works pretty well.

I’ve had the 2020 GLC for a year now and it’s been nothing but a headache. Many small inconveniences that add up to be absolutely infuriating. From the license plate mounting and inability to buy adjusted brackets on the MBUSA site, to the inability to properly install a car seat; this vehicle is absolutely inconvenient at every turn. The car was designed with solely the driver in mind. For all other passengers it is an uncomfortable ride. If you have kids, I highly don’t recommend. If you have a dog and want to put a backseat cover down, I highly don’t recommend. If you take road trips with more than one person, I highly don’t recommend. The backseat is very small, it’s actually smaller than the backseat of my Camry. The trunk space is nonexistent. The Apple car play is frustrating, as you must have the phone plugged in to access the typically Bluetooth feature. There’s no place to comfortably put your phone in the front seat, no place for it in the console, doors, armrest. You can barely fit a coffee mug in the console. If you want to plug your phone in to use the Car Play feature you have to put it in the armrest and close it in or carefully position the cord and try to close it. It all comes down to being one of the most inconvenient impractical and infuriating vehicles I’ve ever driven or ridden in. But if you’re the only one ever riding in it..no worries, go for it!

Superb engine for 2020. Powerful and refined.Economical as well. Drove more than 500 miles from Carlsbad to Sacramento on one tank. Nice cultured car overall, however with a few too negative quirks to my personal taste. 1) Seating position unlike in X3 or Q5 is too low for me, more car like than SUV. Adjusting higher will put your head uncomfortably close to the roof.(depending on your height of coarse). Salon is too tight. 2022 model will be bigger. 2) Handling unfortunately is too bloated. Pity only claustrophobic Macan is great in this regard. 3) Driver's side mirror has too much magnification ratio. 4) Ahh, That typical Mercedes gear selector....

The car does not offer much space in the cargo area only 17.6 cubic ft and 56.5 with the rear seats down. This is a bummer, but i was not looking for a big size family vehicle and lets face it, this is how they managed for this beast to reach 0-60mph in 3.8 sec. One great feature we might all appreciate and you don't see mentioned anywhere in social media that the hood and front side fenders are aluminum, easy to check with a magnet. This drastically helps with weight which equals to better handling, aerodynamics and don't have to worry about rust. Only thing i wish it had was the ability to lower the car permanently if i wanted. It goes down from the rear trunk button, but raises back up on its own after you start driving. You can also raise it but it will go down after 40mph. Overall i think for the price its still a great vehicle to buy i have 1 year with it and really happy with it.
