This is so much more functional than an SUV
Update. 95,000miles and still going strong. I get so many comments when I get out of my car, people think it is gorgeous. I hope I make it to 200,000. I bought the E wagon in 2019. Volvo wagons cost almost as much as Mercesdes so I made the switch, and I have older dogs who can’t get up in a SUV. Not that I liked SUV’s in the first place. This car is nothing short of perfection. Beyond comfortable, extended seats, great sight lines, beautiful interior, and my dogs can jump in! When Volvo bailed on wagons ( actually they still make one but it’s an SUV height- and the price increase was 30% ) my only option was Mercedes, Audi and BMW. The latter two are too small. I am SO HAPPY i bought this car, and so are my dogs! 7 months later after buying the car it’s still a 5 star! One last item, it does not come with a spare tire. My friend told me that, so if you’re doing any cross country driving you might want to buy one. Update. There’s no room for a spare tire, so you have to buy run flat tires. Don’t love them but don’t like sitting on the side of the road either. Update. Just turned 50,000 miles. Car is still wonderful. Just found out Mercedes discontinued the regular wagon for the United States in 2022. So I guess I’ll have to drive it till the wheels fall off. NO interest in the SUV height wagon. You buy a wagon because it’s NOT an SUV. Update. Just hit 60K miles. Still in love. But I am not in love with the Mercedes dealerships in Jacksonville FL. The Fields dealership. They own 35 dealerships in the United States. Stay away from them. They charged $831 for a B service. My dealer in St Paul MN charges $431 for the exact same thing. So beware of who you take it to. Best is to find a good mechanic outside of Mercedes dealers who works on Mercedes. But there isn’t a car on the road I would trade mine for. When I’m in the dealership, some of the sales people come out and say they can’t figure out why people don’t buy the wagon. Because people in the US are like sheep. Everybody buys the same thing. Cars, clothes, and on and on. Update 69K. Only thing I wish for is better navigation. You really have to use your phone. I heard navigation was finally updated in 2022

Best All Around Car Period.
My 2019 E450 wagon is without question the best car I've ever owned--taking into account S550 MB, E500 MB, Porsche 911, BMW 540I, an E350 MB wagon, and several others. The car is aesthetically beautiful, is extremely fun to drive with tight sporty handling and a great 3 liter twin turbo engine and 9 speed transmission that winds up and delivers lots of power whenever you want it--all with a great engine sound, and with really great fit and finish and build quality- the interior is very attractive and sporty with beautiful leather and wood and not a piece of that hard plastic material that ends up rattling especially on cold days anywhere. The interior is also very comfortable, very well designed with amazing safety and entertainment technology as well as ambient lighting. This is all not to mention the astounding practicality--- 7 passengers and a huge payload capacity. This car is perfect for loading up with mountain bikes or mulch and is also an elegant way to drive to a formal affair. Perfect.

Underwhelmed
My E450 wagon looks nice. It is so overly complicated in using infotainment functions by having to scroll thru multiple menus to get what what you want that you have driven the car a distance without your attention paid to the act of driving. I counted 5 sub menus to get to be able to turn off the traction control when other brands in this category have a hard button on the instrument panel. I also don't know why a company which prides itself on safety has a windshield wiper control which requires you to fully take one hand off of the steering wheel to activate it. I'm disappointed with my purchase and suggest customers shopping this brand critically examine the features and see if they agree with them.

E450 wagon
Could be greatest car i have owned. If you were going to drive one car from coast to coast it's the Benz wagon hands down.
Nice balance of comfort and performance
Couldn't decide between a sedan or SUV. This is a great compromise. With 360 horsepower it really moves when you need to. Happy with the interior quality and the technology.

Best car ever!
I loved this car so much I did something I swore I would never do. I bought another identical one, and it took a lot of doing, as they only brought about 2,000 per year to the US, and 500 were the luxury model (with a better suspension than the Sport), and I think 10% were blue. It looks great outside, but it's the inside that is special. With burl and all the trim is actual metal it feels more like a Bentley. Meanwhile with AWD, most of 400hp it really moves, and with Michelin Sport runflats (I can't feel a difference to our other '14 wagon with the same tire that is not a runflat) it sticks to the road. This car does everything better than any other car I've owned (other Volvo and MB wagons) and it actual does it better than I thought possible. Is it perfect? No. But the problems are tiny... filler flap stuck closed (warranty), GPS fights me a bit, and the doors won't hold open on an upslope (how bizarre is that??) and I mean the slope in my flat driveway. I'm 50 something and recently did two 8 hours days back to back with no issues to me or the car. Not even sore. I push them hard and they are stable and predictable. I've hauled 6 people, 4 people and more baggage than I could believe, 2 people and 8 - 100+ pound BMDogs , it does it all. If I had kids I would want a key that gives them half the HP, but that is the only change I can think of. Even the stereo is awesome, I hear those things you read about... the fire engine at 2:12 in track 6 of a Beatles song, etc. Things I could NEVER hear on my pretty nice home stereo. I admit I love wagons, and I have a pickup for when my life needs that. But I always CHOSE the wagon if I can. Oh, and our 2014 E350 wagon (did I mention I love wagons?) has 175,000 miles on it and the only repair was a wheel bearing, which I think was me doing crazy full throttle U-turns when I got it. Because there was no drama, just crazy traction and acceleration. I have no idea why they switched away from the Luxury model (do you really want an E class that rides worse?) or why the new ones don't have the sparkle tail lamps, or beige carpeting with beige seats, or.... so for me 2019 and it's manual gauges, sparkle tail lamps, beige carpet, 3rd row seat, and all the rest was perfect. Wait! The sunglass holder doesn't hold my wrap around sunglasses. (But the armrest and doors do)... how great is a car when you are resorting to taking about that to come up with a flaw?

Perfection
I chose the e450 Wagon over an SUV because I have as much interior space as an SUV but a far more comfortable ride.
