Great car, poor reliability

This is a great car - when it runs. The engine is very strong but the electrical system is very unreliable. You will get to know the MB service dept. well. Moreover, this is a fancy car and many mechanics are not trained to fix it's problems. Find a good mechanic and get the extended warranty!

So far this has been a terrific car. The power is unlike any vehicle I've ever driven. Believe everything you have read about this car; it boogies. The interior is different for me, having had SUV's and trucks. Cupholders and basic storage are the only downside. The build quality overall is impressive as is the overall comfort of driving. The driving experience is somewhat different because the brakes, gas pedal, and tranny are always "thinking" on how I am driving, etc, so it will take getting used to. It does drink the premium though. Also, the a/c is incredible, as in hang meat in the cabin cold. Stereo is OK...lots of gadgets overall. It's a beauty to look at too, makes me smile.

My 2004 E55 has been the worst car experience I have ever encoutered. On the day I took delivery, the Command system malfunctioned and stopped working. In addition, the rim was scratched and the homelink system was inoperative. It has been in the service department for a total of 2 weeks since I took delivery a month ago. MB USA has been totally unsympathetic and uncaring for a car that cost me $100k. I have left several customer concerns that were never followed up. My recommedation is to avoid this car and Mercedes Benz.

Great Car, poorly built. The engine is strong, very strong but it's pushing a rolling sevice call. Dealership is unable to deal with complex technical problems and simple drivetrain issues.

This was one of the first in the country last May and have since put 12000 miles on it. No mechanical issues. The biggest issue was coming to grips with how much power was on tap. It was College ball to the Pros. Things happen that much faster. MB has done a great job providing power at any RPM. It is lightning, subdued and can lull you into complacency. Coming from Porsche after 10 years I was concerned but MB has provded an every day supercar that will stay with anything on the road has all of the luxury of an S class and is only $85k. On a negative note, as a perfectionist, against Continental tires, for 19 in wheels and improved braking.

Nanananana... I've got one & the rest of the world is jealous. This is the real zoom zoom. Fastest car I've ever driven. Passengers noice the speed. Steering is as good as an EVO. Acceleration is somewhat violent and obnoxious as is the speed leveling, but still worth the effort & the money.

This is the fastest Benz they have built to date, they are not kidding . Its a handful. It will put a smile on your face every day. Iys all engine, brakes & suspension. It is also very comfortable for daily use . I have had 20 cars in a 4 year time span . From Ferrari, BMW, Audi, Maserati,Volvo,Nissan,9 Benz's . Including, the new 500sl, clk55amg . This is my favorite to date. I plan on ordering a new one to replace this one in august

This is without a doubt the fastest sedan in the world.I have driven them all.This is as fast as a 12cyl Ferrari 575M and you can take 4 friends and their lugage with you in a luxurious cabin. I'm sorry but the E55 leaves an M5 in the dust. Oh by the way it only has 469HP.

AWESOME car. This car pulls hard like my 2001 911 TT. Exotic performance that fits 5 people with luggage. Love this car since it looks like a regular MB to most people.

As a performance enthusist, I was totally lost since my corvette days. Having a family with kids made 2 seaters impractical. I saw a write up on this car in a magazine and ordered it the next day. First one in the state I believe. The car is Platinum blue which the women love. Anyway, horsepower and torque make this the sweetest car I've ever driven. Getting onto the highway is a blast. This car pulls so strong, I'm wondering how I don't break something. The brakes have been noted as quirky, but to me they work great. This is, to me, the best family sedan made for us babyboomers who must have seating for four or five, and want to relive our youth.

Oustanding torque for a staid appearing sedan. Has all of the bells and whistles inside and a tiger under the hood. Good cornering as well

It is the best Mercedes I've ever owned, except for my ML500 Insiration, but that's an SUV. I love all the rich woods inside,and the climate controlled seats, perfect for those cold winter trips.

This is an amazing car. It can beat Vipers and Ferrari's at stoplights but still has the panache to check in at the Four Seasons. A great vehicle!

For the money you can't go wrong. The car is outrageously fast. The ride is smooth. Everything on the interior is in its proper place. The handling is very good on or off the track. The fuel economy is good on the highway, but low in the city. So far no mechanical problems. The car is a gem.

I absolutely love this car. Torque is the key. It so effortlessly accelerates at any speed. I find the cars style, size and comfort to be nearly perfect. My only complaint after 1300 miles, goes to the complexity of the controls for the audio, A/C, gauges, etc. If you loan the car to a friend, there is little chance they could figure out what button would open the garage door, or how to lower the head rests in the rear seat. But let us not dwell on that complexity problem. This car is an extrodinary blend of comfort, speed, handling, and styling. I believe this car is nearly perfect.

I first drove this car at the AMG challenge at Daytona last May. It was an 8 hour opportunity to try (beat on) all the AMG models. With pro drivers riding shotgun we took these cars to the limit. From the SLK55 to the big S55 the available power and superb handling was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. I decided the E55 AMG was the one for me and I couldn't be happier. I find excuses to drive it. I even drove from NH to Florida and back for fun and a little golf, and if my wife would let me I'd go to California. If you are looking for high performance with versatility and all the creature comforts, Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles can't be beat.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MACHINE.FAR BETTER THAN ANY EXPECTATIONS I HAD SINCE I FIRST TEST DROVE IT FEW MONTHS AGO.ITS BROUGHT BACK THE JOY OF DRIVING FOR ME. SO FAR EVERYTHING IS PERFECT EXCEPT THE GAS MILEAGE-BUT ITS WOTH IT.

The is an awesome beast of a luxury machine. I wanted to get a plate that says, "Hemi this". It is a fine automobile that is a straight line racer that takes the back seat to none on the highway.

An excellent choice for those interested in getting from point A to point B quickly and comfortably. The beauty is that the E55 looks just like any other E-class thus it is less likely you will be bothered by law enforcement officers. If you need to speed, you have so much torque and horsepower it is absolutely effortless. Add on top the safety, reliability and strong resale value, the package is hard to beat. The E55 proves that Mercedes is serious about getting back on track delivering well engineered cars with high quality finishing. Highly recommended.

Have been enjoying my beast for 16 months and it is just as much fun to drive as when it was new. Just spent about $10K to get more power from this exotic 4 door. With basic ECU/Pulley and Headers I have close to 600HP and 650 Torque. This car runs 1/4 mile times in the 11's. What a great car to own and mod when you get bored with the stock power.
