Used 2001 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Consumer Reviews
Electrical Nightmare
The car has been fine except for the electrical system, which has had problems off and on for my entire ownership of it. The latest issue is the electrical failing after a car wash (no lights, turn indicator, etc.). Scary. And the dealership can never figure out what is wrong. (Also the navigation system is quite poor and antiquated.) I would honestly never ever buy another Mercedes Benz.
Simply the Best
I replaced my 1989 300E (with 220K miles) with this silver beauty. Clasic looks, straighforward interior. Solid, safe, and secure. A blast to drive, and the BOSE stereo is awesome.

Expensive with Chrysler Quality
I have owned this car for just under 3 years. Next week it goes back in again for service, I have a total of 18 defectives, more than 3 other cars combined over 10 years. I think Mercedes has recreated the electrical system problems that Jaguar was known for in the past...... This car needs to be sold before the warranty ends. My impression is Mercedes does not care.
Amazing Car!
This car is wonderful. I've driven the M5 and while it is probably more similar than different, I really prefer the E55. It feels much lighter in the handling department and the power, while probably close to the same feels much stronger with the E55.
Do not buy a Benz
I bought this vehicle from a corporate car dealer with original warranty still on vehicle. In the past 1 year I have been at the mercedes dealership more than 10 times. CD changer went out, instrument panel display went out, a/c noise, front suspension bushings replaced, exhaust pipes 2 of them replaced, and many more small problems. The loaner car guy knows me by name now, I have been there so many times. My Acura 3.2tls is a much better car. I will never-ever buy a Mercedes again. Too many problems and always in the shop.
