Wagon!!
Owned from 120-150k as well as 2 ML's(250k+) from the same era. They were good about updating parts as a model went on so things dont break several times again like BMW. Alternator, cats, and rear suspension was all that was needed. Tough good cars even in 2021

Classic Benz
I bought my 2000 E430 Sport in 2020 on the West Coast with 74,000 miles drove it home to east coast 9 day trip no problems. This car has all options AMG body package, navigation, E55 AMG wheels. This car is extra clean and has been great. It now has 82,000 miles. Don’t hesitate to buy one. I also own 2 W211 cars also and recently sold a 2001 E430 4Matic a pleasure to drive. These cars are reasonably priced used.

Found a lemon
It's a beautiful car, no question. My problems have been astronomic. Replaced the tires at 25000 miles. Poor wear in city driving. At 28000 miles I started burning a liter of oil per month. By 30000 miles, it had increased to 3 liters per month. Have since had the engine rebuilt. Mercedes said a new engine would cost 30k but to rebuild it would only cost 10k. They opted for the cheaper alternative. Other than that the car is fun to drive. Not crazy about the cd player in the trunk. Handles the road and is very attractive.
Expensive Fun
I purchased this E430 Sport with 32k miles. Overall its a great car with a few minor problems that are somewhat a headache. All repairs were covered under warranty. Digital instruments cluster replaced due to faulty LED's, dashboard cracked around the passenger air bags (very common problem)and window motor side replaced. This is our third Benz and I have come to realized that the Benz cars are not the trouble- free car everyone who doesnt own one think. But still a great German engineering at a substantial cost. But when you own a Benz, everytime you get in your car, your always getting inside a Benz.
Never again
I have had trouble with my E430 since day one. The passenger power window jammed at the down postion. At 20k miles the radio went dead. Dealer repaired it and it went dead once more at 21k miles. At 30k miles the power locks always lock back when opened. Nothin else went wrong untill 39k miles when the car didnt recognize none of my keys. I gave up due to the fact that the warranty was about to end and I went and bought an Jaguar S-type which is a wonderful car that gives me no problems unlike MBs E430.
Good Car
Good performance car. Has been racing with it for a while. Not my last MB, but needs improvements.
Always been a great car for 17 years.
Now will be the perfect cat for a teenager. Very little repairs in 17 years. All minor.

Second thought
I have fell in love with the design of the E430 and performance. The problems that I have similar about ABS appeared several times and replaced steering rack which caused clicking noises when turning the steering wheel. I have very disappointed with the Park Place (Greenway) in Houston, TX. It took three times to fixed the ABS and four times to fixed the steering racks.
Inside needs improvement
Good riding but lacks some essential features. No Cruise indicator:Climate control no auto off (multiple depressions of off sw. on console whics is a distraction); /confusion between Turn lever and cruise control; no 'Mute' function on steering wheel controls;no running lights;passanger cup holders a joke (in glove box); no additional outlets for PC/Radar detect.,cell phone, etc.
Great Car
Great car. Solid. AWD is great in heavy rain on the highway.
Drives as good as it looks
Fell in love with the look of the car. Highway driving is a real pleasure. The car is smooth, comfortable, very fast and I get up to a suprising 30 miles per gallon. City driving is great, too, due to the comfort of the car. The only thing I don't like are the cup holders. They are not sturdy enough and the secondary holder is not big enough of the traditional large drink you get from fast food restaurants.
great mbz
This is truly a great motor car, surprising gas milage for the performance. Great overall looks inside and out.Should get extended warrenty therefore experience stays positive when repairs occur.
The 4-430 AWD is super
This car has performed virtually flawlessly for three years. I hate to give it up. It is comfortable, a great road car.
No More Quality
This is a beautiful car that handles well and has a plush ride. However, Mercedes quality is nowhere to be found. This car has been in the shop about 2 dozen times in less than three years. Both rear windows have failed. Brake, oxygen, and fuel level sensors have been replaced. The dash cover cracked and the sun visor (cheap vanity mirror) has been replaced 4 times! Cheap center console has never worked properly. The console doors are misaligned, they rub, and sometimes will not close at all. Light bulb failures in dash (twice), headlights (twice, once fuse), and brake lights (twice). The latest problem is with an intermittent A/C fan.
Greg's Opinion
A fun car to drive. Good snob appeal. Creature comforts lacking in following areas: No automatic lights on at night. No one touch seat adjustment. Must hold button to get it to adjust. No compass for direction. Trunk does not go up all the way upon release....usually hit head. Only one cup usuable cup holder.....
Great Car but
lots of annoying little problems; 1. the cruise control stick fell off at 10K miles. dealer fixed. 2. thumbing noise from driving wheel in tight turns. dealer never managed to fix the problem. 3. light bulbs in the instrument cluster burned out at 30K miles. dealer fixed. 4. LCD temperature and gear indicator malfunction. dealer fixed.
I'm keeping it.
I just love this car. Smooth ride, quiet, great on ice and snow, and very quick. No mechanical problems besides ordinary maintainence.
Great Driving Experience
Great car, replace a sensor in 35000 miles, brake linings still good, will replace tires at 42000 miles. Wish they would supply michelin rather than continental. Will buy another this Spring.
Buy It
This is a very important model---The 2000-2002 series is the last of the masculine, broad-shouldered, zig-zag shifter, well-tuned brakes and steering, E320s --also faster than the 2003 model (150 lbs lighter). The classic lines with the deep fender-hood sculpture is more MB than the current model. Absolutely no problems.
Good value Not Great
This is a great car for the money. I purchased used with 7k miles and have driven for 71,00 miles with minimal repairs. All highway but hard. I push through corners and speed limit and it never lets me down in performance or response. When I need to settle down and act my age it drives like a family sedan.Repairs have been brake pads@30k, rotors@40k and one odd repair at 65k fuel sensor $600.
A++ Super Car
I got my E430 Sport for my wife for Valentine. We had put over 6K miles on the vehicle without any issues. I love the interior and I still have heads turn as I drive for the weekend. The power of the V-8 is excellent. I wish it could respond faster in auto mode, I have to shift if I want to run a little faster hihi. The car is ROCK SOLID at 100+ MPH. Looking forward to more pleasure date with the car. Only oil is Mobil1 syntec, could be costly, but the end resolve is
Mixed Bag of Tricks & Treats
Our 2000 Desert Silver E320 is great fun to drive. It is a wolf in sheep's clothing. When driven easily, it is quiet & dignified. However, stomp on the gas or use the manual-shift feature & the car takes off like a rocket. Handling is also superb. Interior design is traditional Mercedes and looks like a million bucks as does the exterior (particularly the front-end). While the powertrain & cosmetics are first- rate, the electronics need much improvement in the way of reliability. Most recently, the CD player has stopped working. The radio unit thinks that the CD magazine is empty when it is full. Result? CD player inoperative. The 2003 E-class does not look as good (inside & out). Great car.
Joe's review
Reliable, fun to drive car with plenty of style and sex appeal.
Mercedes the car to drive
This car is fantastic, no problems, safe automobile, insurance very cheap.
Never again with RBM of Atlanta
Way too many electrical problems and repeat visits to the selling dealership to continually repeat repairs and fix new problems arising from related repairs.
great car
very comfy car! good acceleartion. some issues with ignition.
E-320 review
Have really enjoyed this car! A few problems with electronics that were promptly taken care of by the dealer. Very solid body, very good gas milage, excellent handling, braking etc. Excellent combination of performance while at same time very good economy. Will be on my "list" for consideration of a replacement car in the coming year.
Safe and fun - great car
We Starmarked this car when we bought it just to be safe, but haven't had to use it more than once (cracked intake hose - replaced with no problems). Dealer has been outstanding. This car is very comfy and very safe - I'm very pleased my wife and child spend time here. Factory Continentals stink, but that's a minor issue. Overall, we're pleased. This is our second MB, and I'll continue to drive them as long as they keep the faith.
Mostly Good
This is my second MB. Very pleased w/first and mostly pleased with this one (E320, 2000, sedan). The problems are the automatic door locks (I have had them fixed several times only for them to disconnect or something again; second - the cassette player - fixed once, worked a short while - broke again. Other than that pleased - however, I drive it very infrequently.
E320
Good car but minor problems have been a irritant. Expected higher quality build.
Average for the Price
The best thing about the E320 is the turning radius. The car lacks any 'excitement' inside the cabin. The model has not changed much through 2003 that I can see. It does have a stylish look. The amenities are very scarce such as a very poor drink holder; defective computer which gives out false messages; seats are average condition and the leather is so so. You have to be careful driving over a bump if you have a beverage in the drink holder. If the liquid should spill a bit, it can sort out the shifting linkage which is positioned in front of the holder. I have owned my last Mercedes.
my benz
Great car love the design. Customer service has a lot to be desired (BAYSIDE dealership very shoddy at best). A good bang for the buck. Bought car certified and saved about $10000.
Nice
The year 2020 and I have a 2000 MB E430, 4 Matic with 46K on it. I only drive the car to work and home. Black with light color interior. Car is like a tank and drives nice. Other than normal repairs I did have the crank positioning sensor replaced. Car still looks good and runs good.

Not Good
The overall handling of the car is sloppy. The acceleration is slow. The cupholders are so shallow they hardly hold anything. The moment I turned, my drinks went flying. What were they thinking when they designed those cupholders? The battery is located under the back right passenger seat. That's a bad design because batteries can leak overtime and that's not safe. You could combat this by getting an acid leak resistant battery from Mercedes but that's more expensive and harder to find. It's just an overall poorly designed car.

Excellent Car
My husband purchased this car last year and has been perfect from day one. Drives like a dream. Two months later, we purchased the M-Class for me. His and her's Mercedes!
A/C Problem in E320?
MERCEDES E320 NOT WORTH TO BUY! LEXUS GS300 OR ES300 RELIABLE,BEAUTIFUL,FLAWLESS,FASTER!
Very good
Too small storage space in trunk. Expensive service and parts when using Pompano Beach Mercedes location: more that 2.65 times the cost at other Mercedes location in Canada and 65% more that non-Mercedes repair shops who have access to genuine Mercedes parts.
Lousy reliability
Car had 22000 miles and manufacturer's warranty (never wrecked, dealer serviced, full records). Can't find a better more solid feel in a midsize but the reliability is horrible. Everytime I crank it up I hope the radio works correctly. MB uses soft plastic, not hard, designed to break. Visor vanity covers break off routinely. Don't pull on seat backs, they will break off in your hand. Catalytic converter broke. Key system is horrible, locks are stiff and keys are skinny. Will buy American made Lincoln next time.
Don't Be Fooled By Imitations
I've owned the E-class since the 1993 400E. Our current E430 is evident of M- B's efforts in giving design priority over engineering. With that said, the E430 is a very sound car. It drives, feels, and looks luxurious. It's the real thing, not a Toyota, Honda, or Nissan rebadged. Don't be fooled by the gingerbread of these imitators!
Great Reliable Car
We wanted new technology so bought a 2016 MB E350. Car received regular maintenance at MBI in Portland, OR (Kevin). Records available. New front brakes, radiator July 2016.
