Sleek
Head's turn often. Awesome sleek new look. Great power and handling. The car has a legitimate 2 person adult rear seat. Very comfortable. Despite low profile, I have not noticed any vision impairment at all.
Beware of gawkers
If you don't like people coming up to you in parking lots or at the carwash to look at this car and ask about it, then don't buy it! Handles great, fun to drive and is very comfortable even for a 6'2" bigdog. Have had one service problem for a faulty seat belt restraint warning message but that was corrected. Overall very pleased with the vehicle!

It's soooo sweet
I've only had my CLS500 about a month. It really does turn heads! I have people signal me to roll down my window at intersections just to tell me what a beauty the car is. Traded in a E320 after 2-years and have never been happier with my decision. This car is awesome.
Very impressed so far
My last two cars have been BMW's, but I was turned off by the I-drive and wanted something new. I was captivated by the styling of this car, which is a depature from the norm for Mercedes. The fit and finish on the car are quite good and it handles like a dream. I was sold the minute I drove the car. Edmunds found the control interface to be "complicated," but it is far better than the I-drive from BMW. My only complaint is the lack of headroom. I am just six feet tall, but I have very little headroom in the front seats of the car. I am somewhat concerned about Mercedes' recent reputation for poor reliability, but only time will tell on that point.
One Nice Benz
If you are a Benz fan this car is a must have. Sporty, yet classy. It turns a lot of heads and gets plenty of questions asked about it. The V8 gives you more than enough power. It's very fun to drive, and worth the money paid for it.
Great Car
This car is really a great one. It has unbelievable power, it is extremely comfortable, the car handles like a sports car. The drive dynamics seats are very unique. The functionality of the dash is great. I was on a waiting list for nine months in order to obtain this car and it exceeded all of my expectations. I have owned high end Mercedes and BMW's in the past but this car is a very special and unique vehicle.
Blind spots
I have driven this car 1600 miles from Springfield, MO to McAllen, TX and noticed many blind spots around the car that could cause me or my wife to have a car accident. Door jams are too wide, and windows are too small and narrow. Overall the car has poor visibility from the inside. The right hand mirror is obscured about one quarter by the passenger door jam.
Like A Dream
One word: WOW! This car is amazing. This was my first Mercedes and I was somewhat skeptical of its performance capabilities before I test drove it. After that first drive, I was an instant fan. This car gives my 2004 400 hp Ferrari 360 Modena a run for its money in the acceleration category! It really threw me back in my seat...something I was not expecting for a car manufacturer more known for their luxury than performance. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for a performance jolt while offering more luxury and options than more exotic sports cars.
CLS
Love the design, especially with AMG package. Very good acceleration and handling. Mercedes could have added the self-closing doors as in the S Class but otherwise a solid and quiet car. Navigation system much improved. Keyless Go is exciting. Have not had it out on the highway yet but look forward to an improved ride over the E Class.
Not your father's Mercedes
5,000 miles of truly fun driving. No mechanical problems except for a faulty ESP switch. Great fit and finish. The only negative is the tight quarters in the rear. But it is a "coupe."
A Winner
As a previous owner of BMW's, I must say that Benz has made a major step forward in terms of design and performance. The CLS500 is a fun machine to drive and the body design is outstanding. Whether sitting still or rolling along, it draws a lot of admiring looks. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this automobile.
Great Car
To start with, this car is great!! With the obsidian black color and the nappa cashmere beige interior, it's outstanding! This car brings lots of attention and many tend to turn their heads when I drive by. I would say with a 6.2 0-60 you cant go wrong with it. It demands respect when on the highway. Not only is it fun to drive but its also great for the family. With 2 kids and a wife, it's great for me.
Mercedes CS
This is the best production car ever made. The AMG handles with precision. The car enters the highway as a car should, with good power. The interior of the car is very comfortable. It is trimmed in suede and leather. On long hauls it makes the trip memorable.
Great car but...
Great headturner, and we love everything about it, but it has been in the repair shop 8 out of the 45 days we have owned the car. Mercedes customer service, when they answer the phone timely, has been poor and disapointing. I hope customer service gets new phone lines and Mercedes gets the bugs out of the car.
New CLS 500
Have only had the car less than a week, but it is beautiful, silky smoothe, and couldn't be more satisfied. Silver, with dark red interior and most of the add-ons - no keyless go. Not one thing wrong with it - no adjustments needed.
The best Mercedes-Benz ever
This Mercedes is the best Mercedes I have evern owned. It is very stylish and sleek. It makes many people turn their heads as I drive by. Since I live in a relatively small town I'm pretty much the only one who ones one. I absolutley love Mercedes. If you can choose Mercedes for any vehicle you buy.
Best looking car on the road today
This car drives as great as it looks. Without a doubt, the finest looking car on the road today. It turns heads everywhere I go. As a long-time BMW driver, it took me awhile to get used to very touchy brakes and Mercedes handling, softer than I like from years of BMW driving. The CLS smokes the LS430's performance, and when it comes to styling, the Lexus has no business in the same sentence as the CLS. First time I've bought a car with keyless go- a great option, as is the satellite radio. Given the small windows, I'd recommend Parktronic as well.
Experience and Love
It took only a trip around the block to realize that this car has the true response of a sports car, but the comfort of a sedan. The size is very adequate for taller people such as we are, but it manuevers with the response of a two seater roadster. We just LOVE IT.
Love my car
I love everything about this car ...except the location of the cup holder....that is just in the wrong place. But everything else is so great I can forgivr that..The pick up is fantastic, it is comfortable. It just feels good....and the attention it recieves doesn't hurt either.
Former S Class owner
I loved the S 430 I owned prior to trading for the CLS 500. I seldom had rear seat passengers, and wanted the comfort and performance of the S class. The CLS fit the bill perfectly. Great performance and handling, and a styling "tour de force." Highly recommend the car, but refrain if you have frequent need of rear seats for passengers. Space and comfort is OK, but entry and exit is challenging. Overall I give the car a 8 out of 10.
Happy Wife
Love this car for the styling and performance. We picked it up in Feb 2005 for my wife and it gets stares everywhere we go. It is the best looking Mercedes I have seen since the Gull Wing. The rear seat headroom is marginal as to be expected with any coupe. I am 6' tall and have an inch or two to spare. My wife is very happy with this car and I am considering buying one for myself.
I Love It !! Its fun, exciting & FAST
To me it is beautiful to look at - the best designed car by Mercedes in many, many years. It just keep getting better. You get into it, it is comfortable, well layed out and a sports car that holds 4 people well. 0 to 60 = 4.3 seconds! Fun-Fast-Exciting The sound is perfect, it just sounds as though it will go fast. Fuel mileage (for those who worry) has been between 12 & 14 MPG - pretty good for this type of rocket ship.
Beautiful CLS
Have owned this car about 6 weeks. Absolutely love it. Have about 2000 miles on it. No quality problems at all, and build quality seems great. Car attracts attention at every stop. It is smoothe and powerful, with great exterior lines and pretty interior.
Best New Mecedes in Years
I have never owned a vehicle that turns more heads than the CLS500. With its "E" class trunk and relatively long legs for a V8, it is a perfect blend as a true road trip car. Comfort, ease of operation (Unlike my previous BMW I Drive that took a computer programer just to go to the gas station) I opted for the NAV, Satellite radio and Tele-aid, all of which opertate perfectly and are very logically user friendly.
Smooth as Silk
I traded in my Cayenne Turbo because I wanted a car with power, luxury, and reliability. The CLS has it all. It is silky smooth on acceleration. It has all the characters of a luxury car, and drives like a sports car. Enough room for four adults and luggage. I don't miss my Cayenne yet!
A beauty!
I have been enjoying my CLS for the past 5 months. What a head turner! Great looks. Great performance. So unique!
Numerous Problems!
I have had my CLS500 w/ AMG sport package, keyless go, satellite radio etc. for going on 8 months and it has been in the shop numerous times already. On average, once every 2 weeks and one time for more than a week.
Love my CLS
I have been driving my CLS for almost 5 months and I really enjoy it. I test drove the BMW 645 and it was a beautiful car, but I liked the Benz's ride better. The control interface is no more complicated than a Japenese car. Almost 8,000 miles on it and no problems at all.
Best car for the money
I go through new cars every 6 months; this car might end up being my last one for a long time. I enjoy driving this more than all the other high end cars Ive ever owned. I just recently traded an 05 BMW M3 conv for this and Im thrilled I did. It has more guts than I expected and drives better than any other car I've owned. (except for my BMW 745IL which was delclared a lemon) had that for 3 months. I get so many compliments on the style of this car its unbelievable. Nothing else looks like it and Mercedes didnt duplicate it and make copies of different versions to beef up their sales like other manufactures did. The interior is tight for a larger person but being 5'8" its perfect!
CLS500 Solid 4Dr Coupe
I have had the luxury of owning just about 15 different types of luxury and performance type vehicles and this new CLS 500 gives you the best of both worlds. This car handles like a great sports car should and has the quiet smooth ride you would find in a luxury sedan. I get loads of complimeents from everyone who has seen it.
The Perfect Car
I had heard that this car was not very well received. To look at it I found it hard to believe. I test drove it, and fell hard. While it could be a problem for 6ft 5 inch people in the back seat, there simply is nothing bad that can be said about this vehicle. The looks are stunning, the ride is silk lightning, and everything about it says....THE PERFECT CAR. I hope that Mercedes realizes what they have accomplished. They have taken back the lead from BMW with one quick stroke of genius. If you are looking for the perfect car, and are able to spend 75k, you cannot find anything better.
Jaguar NO...Mercedes... YES
After being a Jaguar guy for over 10 years, It was time to move up the ladder to something better. I have been driving XJR's, and most recently the 2005 Super V8. And to the discredit of Jaguar, and the Service departments...I have moved on, and it has been to a better place. Mercedes Benz CLS 500. What a nice little rocket. Looks good on the street.I thought it was a car that stickered for well over $100,000 when I first saw it. Again, was I surprised. The interior is tight, and the seats are comfortable. The size is great for me, as an average size man, it fits me perfect. I couldn't imagine being over 6'3" and trying to slink into it. This car in black makes you want more. Yummy!
Benz is back!
This car is absolutely stunning, and with the seven speed transmission, 302 HP feels like 402! Less than 6 sec. to 60 in a first class luxury sedan is nothing to sneeze at. The build quality feels superb like previous generation Benzes when engineering came first and the price was set as an afterthought. Anyone looking at this level will be impressed with this car...if they can find one to see and drive. This makes my 7th Benz in 13 years and it is without question the best of the batch including my vaunted '92 S class. No car is perfect, but for me, this one comes very close.
Good but could be better
This is a very nice car. Did a very nice job in the interior with the leather stitching and beautiful wood. The seven speed transmission is good for fuel economy and its smooth. Big fat tires even without the sports package. Has ADSII a much better version of the semi air suspension compare to ADS.
A Classic, Superb in every way
One need not wonder about the importance of this car to Mercedes and to the rest of the automobile world. Porsche is building a competitor as is Aston-Martin. All new Mercedes sedan pay homage to the style of this car. It is simply the best looking sedan on the road, inside and out. That is why Top Gear, an British automotive magazine recently picked it the best luxury car of 2006... better than Rolls, Maybach, and even the S Class. With the seven speed transmission, it not only is fast (5.5 sec. to 60; 155 top speed) but gets decent gas mileage (20-25 mpg) for a 4,000 lb. luxury sedan.
CLS-500-A Real Beakthrough
The 2006 Mercedes is a true breakthrough automobile. In design, comfort and performance , the CLS 500 has broken some very exciting new ground. It drives like a sports car, has the comfort of a much larger model, and performs admirably in all driving situations. The rear seating area is actually quite comfortable. The only limitation is slope of the rear roof line does make entereing the rear comprtment more of a challenge than in other 4-door sedan models.s The interior is not quite up to the standards of Mercedes, butit is acceptable. I would recommend the vehicle to anyone interested in a unique driving experience. It is an excellent addition to the Mercedes line.
A Real Beauty on Wheels
Had a few minor kinks, but they were taken care very well by my dealership. Fun, a great ride and is a very beautiful car. Awesome handling. At first the dash was a little bit intimidating but I got use to it and is really very well thought out. Back seat is a little too small,oh well... I recomend the rubber floor mats for the winter which helps w/ my black on black interior.
CLS 500 w/AMG Sport Pack
I've been a Mercedes fan for years and have owned several of them. The CLS is the best one yet. Though E-based, it's a very different vehicle. It rides better, handles tighter, and is just simply heads above the E. Even the interior is an improvement. I traded in a new 2005 E320 for the CLS500 and do not miss the E at all. The other Mercedes sedans now look dowdy next to this one. I'm 6'4" and had heard the CLS lacked interior space. Up front, there's no problem for me. I can't sit in back of most vehicles and the CLS is no exception. The only problem I had was locating one with the color and equipment I wanted because there still aren't that many around.
My CLS
Mercedes has really created yet another piece of art with this machine. Not only does it look good, but handles like a charm and is very comfortable to drive. This car is also very well built. Not the usual creeks and rattles you can sometimes experience with a new car. This one stays solid and rides very smooth. One of the other great things is all the bells and wistles. There's a button for eveything.
It's a Sexy Beast!
I have owned my CLS500 only 3 months and love every minute I am inside of it. It drives like the smooth flow of the wind and feels like it too. Had 2 BMW525's before including the recent 2004 newbody style it was just a great drive. But CLS500 is a awesome car.
CLS in Capri Blue
The car handles like a dream, and has plenty of pep with optional braking and ride styles. Abundant leg room for those of us with sore knees that need to be straight for a while. The rear seat is a little tight, but not so uncomfortable for a medium distance ride.
A Truly Dream Car
From the first day I took delivery, this car turns heads wherever I go. It has style and grace and is a true joy to drive. Worth every penny of the price. I have had three Mercedes in the past (450 SL, 300 D, 380SE) and this one is the best. It is a 4 door sports car. Handles better than my former C5 Corvette.
CLS
My wife and I have had the car now for a month and continue to love it more and more all the time. This is a fabulous car. I love the V8 and the interior is exceptional. Handles very well and is very fast. My only gripe is that you can't get anyone too big in the back seat. Other than that, this car is terrific.
Former CLK 500 owner
I traded my 2003 CLK 500 in on a CLS 500 and find the following to be better in the CLS: 1. rear entry & exit 2. better fuel consumption (7-speed vs. 5-speed gear box) 3. ride quality & handling (airmatic vs. conventional suspension) 4. steering (speed sensitive vs. conventional power assistance). The car is an abolute pleasure to drive on the highways & especially over the long distances we cover here in Australia. The styling attracts a lot of attention!
Best Ever
First foreign car owned. Vehicle exceded all my expectations. Previous ownership 15 Lincolns. Transmission very smooth. Acceleration what anyone would hope for. Design was strongest reason for buying.
Sleekest looking sedan on road
Having recently owned an '03 SL500, an'05 CLK55 Cabriolet, and having an '03E320 in the garage, I rate this new model just what I have been dreaming of. Handling, acceleration, interior stereo, rakish looks, and so on! I also owned 2 CL500's and this is such a perfect follow-through.
JWW Review
I really like the exterior design. My wife likes a coupe but I like a sedan. When I first saw this car I knew it was just the answer to our needs. She loves the design too. It drives like "silk", smooth and quick.
CLS 500
Needless to say it gets a lot of attention. It is a lot of fun to drive. I moved away from Mercedes a few years back due to quality. I went to Lexus and I was so bored. This car is anything but boring. It is a fun driver's car. It reminds you of the joy you felt when you first got behind the wheel. I'm just hoping that the quality is in this car.
Bye Bye Porsche
Traded in my 2002 911 for something a little more "family friendly", but with some pizzazz. Couldn't be happier. I love the comfort, the styling, and the performance. It looks like it's going 80mph while still in park. It just is everything I wanted in a car.
Unbelievable
Mercedes' sexy cat (who would ever have dreamed. . .) purrs its way into your heart and loins in the first 20 seconds of road time. A Jaguar-killer. Drive feel is far more powerful than the engine stats suggest and has no hint of the E-class parts and staid chassis from which the car is supposedly derived. Probably the best fusion of sports car and sedan features ever achieved in an assembly line model. This is an exceptional car that Daimler Chrysler could sell for $20,000 - $40,000 more than it's listed for.
