CL Amazing!
I just bought my 2003 CL 500 and I love the car! It is great, no problems and many standard features. I wish the car had a more aggressive look, but it still looks very classy. Fuel economy also is bad 16-24mpg I typically get 15-17 and I drive conservatively. If you have the money I would def recommend one, a lot better than most cars out there!
Style & Performance
I have owned 3 other Mercedes & this is my favorite over my previous CL600. The understated styling & great performance are favorites. Handling is good for a heavier car but not in the Porsche range. Reliability has been good but one electrical problem which the dealer solved. This is my every day driver so I plan to put on a lot of miles & I keep my cars for several years. I purchased the extended warrantee based on my experience with my CL600. I would buy this car again & highly recommend it for performance, style & luxury, only I would get the voice activated controls, I miss the hands free calling on my previous CL600.

WORTH THE WAIT
OUR CL55 AMG IS ONE OF THE BEST CARS WE HAVE OWNED. STYLE, PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING. THERE IS NO OTHER VEHICLE WE CAN COMPARE IT TO.
Excited and Smiling
Cedric Lector (my 2003 CL500 with sports package), I looooove him. I break out in hives when I think of him! CL had only experienced 32 miles when he came to me. He got eight of those during our first...encounter, as we got to "know" one another! Oh, the way he moves, and when he moves I just melt into his flow! I have never felt what I feel with him nor have I ever been moved as CL moves me...so quickly, yet with such gentleness, grace, agility. I don't know what excites me most, his rakish good looks, the way he makes me feel or the way he performs on demand!
My CL600
This is my third CL600; I have had a 2001, 2002, 2003- I love these cars, I don't know what I'd drive if they didn't exist!
Design, Safety, Performance and Luxury
The CL55 is a supercar. It's dynamic performance matches that of a number of two seat sports cars that are widely considered supercars. Despite the performance capabilities, the car is quite comfortable and quiet. The Automatic Body Control is amazing, as are the brakes. The build quality is very good. My experience with the car has been entirely satisfactory.
cl500
gorgeous, comfortable car with a few bad design features. there should be a cd player/disc changer in the dash, the automatic sealing windows have failed twice and needed repair. This is only a good ides if it works. At this price all features (multi-contour seats, distronic cruise control. etc,,,)should be standard. Stunning looks, fat comfort, love the keyless go although it could react a bit faster. Love the java interior with light wood. Overall I'm lucky to own it.
It tickles me
It still continues to exceed my performance expectations and in my estimation is a stronger, beefier design than the 2007 model change.
Beautiful Machine
It was awesome. I loved every bit of it. The look is a diamond by itself. It is another world when I drive it. I take my car every where.
Proud owner of a CL600
I Have owned many cars. I usually trade every 3-5 months, this is my forth mercedes 3 prior were SL500s As i said priors. This car will stay in garage and actually get washed it is a pure adrenaline rush to drive. Once you put your foot into the pedal the car responds, and your off an running with the 490+ ponies under the hood and dont forget about the Twin turbchargers. The only down side is the turbo lag at first But the cars overall performance, handling, interior features, comfort and exterior styling make it the best car I have ever owned, I wish every body could at least experience Driving it once in their life. Not my car though, get your own
Luxury, High Performance & Loving It
I have owned serveral other Mercedes vehicles and luxury vehicles but the 2003 CL55 AMG has displayed it all. Fun to drive, high performance, comfortable front seats, good sound system and not to leave out it looks great on the road. I am currently waiting for the 2007 to come out, I want another.
So you have been considering the CL55 AMG
So most of these are 100k plus car and they are good up to 500k without a rebuild on the motor. Awesome of course..the ride awesome of course...the electronic toys, definitely on the edge for the year they were built....okay heres the deal, incredible car, incredible suspension..ABC is wow...transmission is bullet proof to 200k, leaks at that point...but no rebuilt till 500k. If you do not work on your own car, stay away. The dealership will kill you. If you have a few tools and love to tinker, have a another car to drive to work...well this is the bomb car to beat up any corvette, and less car. Only a viper compares, and 0 to 60 viper is faster by 2 tenth of a second...the viper a pig and uneducated, the mercedes, well can we say quite refined...stay away from this car if dirty finger nail make you vomit....keep a toothbrush for your nails in the shower, and this car in the garage if you have the balls to have one....the ultimate mercedes, originally 120k car, it was and is worth the spend.

cl 500 test drives
This is a great car ,I love the suspension system on it, especialy the options of sport and normal driving I also like the fact you can raise the car 2 dif levels. the comfort in the cl is great the seats are wide and offer great support. I also enjoy the tip shift trans I use this mode all the time. The one thing I wish it had was a little more power off the line and and a more agresive sounding exhaust system.
The Big Boy Coupe
My 2003 CL600 is a rocket. I know many will say the CL55 may be a better car, but one was not available at my dealership so i took the V12 600. The torque is scary. Even with the ESP on the car breaks loose without hardly any pressure on the gas pedal. The power is so prevelant that even after releasng your foot from the accelerator the car still forges forward from built up power. Now this may seem like a bad thing but you get used to it and it is a rush. I drove an SL55 and it too was fast but did not seem to have the overall power of the CL600. The torque is just under 600 lb ft on the 600. An amazing car driving experience.
Elegence or Performance?
The CL Merc. takes credits to both of these descriptions. Mercedes brings the best of both worlds out with this World Class automobile. There is no competitor the has even come close or even competed to rival the CL models. All of the Merc. equiptment is the best of quatliy and integrity. Plus the brlliant design team that made this car possible. Plus for 2003 new body kit, new power trains for 55 and 600 models and GPS.
Great Car!
Best car I've ever owned. Anyone that critizes this car doesn't really own one. Nearly perfect!
The Secret MB -- the CL tops the List
I have 4 MBs (03 SL-500, 02 ML500, 97 S- 420, and the CL 500. Have owned over 23 MBs since 1984. Traded an SL-430 (lemon) for the CL-500. Incredible auto. Balanced, incredible road car, gas mileage (S**ks), but you know that when you buy one. -- I actually prefer it to to the SL-500!! Great driver -- and the seats!!! Go for CL-3 package. Great build quality (for current Benzes, that is) and full of pleasant surprises (e.g., rear head rests raise and lower, great handling, UV resistant glass). This is a sleeper in the super luxury category.... I've a position on a new Bentley GT and not sure I want to give up this car to get it. It's that good.
Only one word: WOW!
Owned this car almost a year for now, no problem at all, fast, fast, and fast. Cornering? no problem, speed? no problem, COmfortable? Yes, Reliable? Yes, so far. Gas mileage is not bad if you drive it moderately, only a little bit different with my S500. 493 hp and 516lb/ft of torque? It is enough. I can live with it.

very fun to drive
I bought this car during the summer and ever since than i leave 2002bmw7 in my garage. Everyone that sees this car says that it really look good. My favorite part of this car is the visibility, you can really see clearly so its really fun to drive!
My first 5000 miles
I traded a 2002 M5 for this beast so I am very familiar with high performance cars. This is a true luxury car with blinding performance and incredible comfort. You can drive for hundreds of miles and still want to keep going. The seats are extremely comfortable and it has all the toys and technology you could ask for. Its a dream. It is not a sports car but does fairly well in the curves. The brakes are good but it is a heavy car so you have to allow for some distance to stop as compared to a lighter Porsche. The torque is immense and available at any speed. A deeper exhaust sound and a lower ride height would be my only fixes.
Lemon
Don't buy. In the last 14 months I had this car under warranty repair for 6 weeks.Towned from hwy twice!!!
Best Ever
I've owned most makes over 40 years,MB since 1969, every high line Mercedes made in the last 20 years (no AMGs) and this by far the finest and most reliable car of all. After eight months of ownership the car remains flawless, is perfectly comfortable and a blast to drive.
cool
much better than BMW
I love my car
I love my CL. There is no car I'd rather have. (besides a lambo....:-)
Ultimate Machine
This car pppuuuurrssss!!! I love driving it and compared to my previous, Jags, BMW's, and a Rolls Royce-no other car comes close. Heads turn when I drive by! The horse power in this machine is like no other! Sleek exterior and interior is top notch. I love this car! Back seat is very limited, but the total ride is first class all the way!
AMG CL-55 2003
As far as design , comfort, jet like power and acceleration at all speeds it does not get any better. Has all the toys you would expect in a vehicle this price but this car is built to enjoy and last for many years. Easy to adjust the height and suspension of the CL.Corners are easy to take with total control at all times. Voice activated phone and radio and CD's actually are reliable. Three choices to shift gears. Worth the wait.
how good it is
it has a great performance and fast good mileage but is a gas guggler
CL55? pass
The car is impressive. A blast to drive. 493 hp says it all. It has a problem with the supercharger clutch. The car shutters with a clunk and a loud squeak when the supercharger ingages. It sounds like an old jalopy with a bad trans. Brought it back for repairs and was handed a bulletin from MBUSA that stated, "this motor-specific noise is state of the art. At best, replacement of these parts leads to a temporary solution of the problem and customer dissatisfaction will increase." MB can build a brake by wire braking system but can't built a compressor that doesn't sound like a old junker. Stick with Lexus and keep your money in the bank!
2003 CL55
Just boght a used 10,000 mile CL 55. Drove it down from New York to South Fla. and never experoenced such a comfortable drive. Quiet, powerful, comfortable, and a great sound syatem along with 21 mpg economy. Best car for the price. Love the looks & performance
The BEST
Best personal car I have ever driven
great car but needs some improvements
Expect to pay high repair bills when any service is needed. I have owned my car for about 1.5 years and the car has been in the shop for several repairs. I do not drive fast or hard and maybe that is the problem with a car like this. I have replace all oxygen sensors and now they tell me it is the catalytic converter at a cost of $5000, much more than a standard converter for another car. The radio only works on one side, said it may be the wiring. The ABC light comes one and will go off if I simply restart the car, another several thousand dollar expense. I love the way the car drives and looks, I only wish it was as reliable as my other cars, jaguar and jeep. Even with the problems I still enjoy driving my CL55 AMG and I love the way it looks.

The best of 3 Mercedes Benz I've owned
The first thing is that you should always have a pre-purchase inspection of any car you buy, but especially one that costs as much as a Mercedes Benz. The car I bought checked out perfectly in the pre-purchase inspection. The car I bought only had 89,000 miles on it to begin with, so I was not too concerned about the mileage. Our car was maintained impeccably by its previous owners and came with a full service history. The day that I bought it you could literally eat off the chrome thresholds in the car. The power of these cars is quite remarkable, even compared to the 400 horsepower CLK 550 that we already own. I bought the CLK 550 for my wife and then this car for me. I do dearly love the ability to hit the accelerator and instantly leave almost every other car in the rear view mirror. It handles very well for such a large and heavy car. The leather seats are not only heated and cooled but also have a massage option as well. The seats are very comfortable and are well bolstered to keep you in place through tight turns. The CL 55 AMG is far and away a more comfortable car to ride in than our CLK 550. Don't get me wrong the CLK 550 is quite comfortable, but it is not nearly as comfortable as the CL 55 AMG. I look forward to making long trips on the freeway in this car. I will admit there are a lot of electronic controls in the car, but they are laid out in a logical fashion and it only takes a bit of time to become familiar with them. The extra 100 horsepower in the CL 55 AMG (from the nearly, 400 horsepower of the CLK 550) is noticeable instantly when you step on the gas pedal and the six piston front disc brakes are a comfort when driving the car a bit harder than the usual individual might drive it. There are a lot of "gee whiz" gadgets in this car, from the hydraulic suspension system which allows me to drive down our mile long driveway, which is just a bit more than a stone pathway through our woods, by raising the car up enough to be certain of clearing any obstacles that may have appeared since my last trip on it. Then when I reach pavement again I simply push a button twice and the ride height is adjusted to a normal, low-slung driving position for the suspension. The ability to drive the transmission like a manual is a really nice option, especially with the 2 buttons on the back side of the steering wheel. I initially thought that I would add actual paddles, like the AMG 63 has, but in driving the car the buttons are quite sufficient and unlike the paddles won't be hit accidentally, ever. Overall, I think the CL 55 AMG is the nicest Mercedes Benz I have ever owned, of course I haven't gotten a new AMG GT from them yet, but I'm not done buying Mercedes Benz automobiles just yet.

A real lemon...
During one year of ownership...this car was in the shop on an average of one week per month for the same problems + others. New ones continue to develop and the next one will prompt me to cover it in yellow stick- on lemons. Although MB is currently negociating an exchange, much to their credit IF they follow through...(E me for updates)I am not sure if I will feel safe or enjoy another MB.
