GREAT CITY CAR

Mercedes quality, solid construction, good performance and utility, fun to drive, and great value on the used market. The only down sides are limited range by present day standards, and a charge rate that maxes out at Level-2, which is about 3.5-hours at best. The B250e is perfect for around town transportation, and there is an upside of the limited range, a small drive battery is lighter and will be much less expensive when it's time for replacement. If you are considering buying one of these, make certain that the 8-year/100k mile drive battery warranty is certified by a Mercedes Benz franchised dealer as valid; important because an annual and free of charge battery check by an M-B dealer is required to maintain the warranty. If one annual battery check is missed, the warranty is no longer valid and can't be reinstated.

Died After 24000 Miles

Absolutely loved the car but 3 months after the warranty expired the drive motor gave out. The cost to repair was over $16,000. The car only had 24,000 miles on it. Waiting to see if Mercedes will stand behind their vehicle but if not I wouldn’t even consider buying any electric vehicle from Mercedes.

Looked at a Tesla but could not find a comfortable seat position. Went to Mercedes and they had a B-class electric that had just came off lease with 13k miles. We were impressed by its MB quality fit & finish. As others have said the seats seemed hard but two years later we find them quite comfortable. The 20k service is only $130 compared to over $600 every 10k miles of my old MB. The Garman maps are a bust at $300 to upgrade every year so we use Google maps on our iPad that are always up to date. Driving in Eco mode we can get 90+ miles on a regular charge and 115+ mile in extended range mode. Very quiet except for road/tire noise from the run flat tires (no spare tire). Good head room with a hat on, very good rear seat leg room, and reasonable cargo space for a small SUV. Does not have adaptive cruise control or automatic emergency braking. Parts are expensive. Had a tree limb fall during a storm breaking a rear view mirror, $1500 repair. Had a battery pack heater go out, $2500. Update 4/22: 35K miles. Still love the car. The standard charge at 80% still gives 80+ miles (EPA is 85 miles). Using high charge and E+ mode is good for 100+miles. I might use the high charge mode once or twice a year.

We loved the first which b250 (in white) that I bought for my wife, she turned around a month later and brought me the blue one. We had a Tesla Model 3 on order, but after seeing the stellar Mercedes quality versus a TSLA build, and the exceptional service from our dealer, the b's were a no brainer !

Took a chance in March 2021 and bought one with 10K miles off a California lease even though they have never been sold in our state. Found a local independent MB shop which looked it over and can do minimal service but the MB dealer won't touch it. So even with limited service options we figured it was worth a try to dip our toes into the EV world. After 4 months it's been perfect for scooting around town with normal driving of 100-ish miles per week. Installed a level 2 charger and now top up the charge in a couple of hours twice a week. Solid yet nimble to drive. Limited range doesn't matter since we still have a big ICE Volvo wagon when the need arises. Very happy with it.
