I still love my 2001 Tribute

I've been meaning to submit a report since 2001... I love this car. It has enough power to merge and pass safely on the highway, enough cargo space to haul a garden's worth of plants & mulch with the option of opening just the back window for extra-long items, the seats are comfortable on 8 hour drives and I still feel happy when I see its graceful profile in the parking lot, especially next to bigger, clunkier SUVs. I bought it new, and put over 120,000 miles on it. It still feels like my "new" car. Unfortunately, it crashed last week (no fault of the Tribute), so here I am, looking for another just like it. That says it all: would I buy it again? Yes!

I was one of the first people to buy a Tribute when they came out in 2000 and have loved it ever since. Very roomy on the inside and good-looking on the outside. Nice power too.

I have 45,000 miles on my Tribute and it has been great! I have basically beat the heck out of it with no problems.

This was the car I was waiting for -- compact, roomy interior, reasonable gas mileage and up where I can see what's going on......yes, but....at 21000 miles I've just paid about $400 for a rotator replacement on a front wheel brake....that can't be right. Apparently others are having this unanticipated expense also. How common is this and why isn't Mazda doing a recall if the rotators are, as my dealer told me, just not up to handling the brake pads?

Front Brake sucks

Front brake wears at 37K and need to replace brake pad at dealer cost $189.00. Turned out the rotors fail too, and need to replace rotors at the cost of $400.00. Rear struts fail too at 30K and need to wait for about 2 months for the parts in.

This vehicle is basically very good- nothing has happened in the past 2+ years. Transmission worries me, it seems to shift endlessly in rural driving. Very basic interior, but it is a cheaper SUV. Gas mileage is not what we thought-seems everyone has that opinion. Not wanting to spend 30K, it has been a good purchase. Next one, though, will be of superior quality.

I bought my Tribute in Sept. 2000.I had to have the transmission replaced less than a year later. It was under warranty but that didn't make me feel very good about the SUV. I haven't had any other problems since. The moon roof is starting to stick a little but I do love the car, I now have 55,000 miles on it.

I am getting ready to trade my Tribute in. It was my mom's before it was mine. She bought it brand new. She nor I have had any problems with the Tribute. The only thing that I would say is bad is the gas mileage. It's a beautiful car. I like it MUCH better than the CX-7. I test drove a CX-7 and the interior was so cramped and remined me of a boxy volvo. The Tribute is awesome. It has been reliable now for 7 years. It has 135,000 miles on it now and still going strong.

I owe a Mazda Tribute 2001, purchased last sept. I love this SUV, but some things need to be considered in order to make the driving experiencie more fun and easier. For exemple the rear defrost switch when the car is on D position, is hard to see if botton is on or off, the shift bar covers the switch. Also, on the rear wiper blade, took me several phone call in order to figure out how to replace it. I call the mazda dealer and they told me to take the car to them because they could no tell me over the phone how to do it. I auto parts person from a local company helped me with it. Besides that so far has been a great SUV. Thanks

I went straight from a Miata to a Tribute without missing out on too much fun (although I do feel a pang of sadness when I see a montego blue Miata on the road). I'm happy with most aspects of the Tribute except for the electrical problems I've had. Sensor problems have caused the engine light to come on twice and the coolant light once. At one point my radio would not turn off even after the key was out of the ignition. That along with a problem with the windshield washer has brought my Tribute in for warrantee work 3 times. Regardless of my bad luck, I'm happy with my purchase and have recommended the Tribute to people looking for SUVs.

Nice to drive, yet very unsafe

I have the DX 2WD/ 4cyl standard Tribute and it has been a reliable car in general but it is absolutely horrible in the rain/snow. It handles extremely poor in these conditions. When it rains, I hydroplane often and it skids on any road that is slightly slick while braking. I am looking to trade this vehicle in because of this but now I see that it has depreciated terribly as well.

For the Performent of this SUV is just ok! It is not I call V6! Anyway other than that this is not that bad. It just doen't like my other SUV TOYOTA HIGHLANDER!
