MAZDA CX9 2018
I've had my CX9 for 6 weeks. I absolutely love everything about it. Just the right size, comfortable, all safety equipment. There's nothing I would do different. A great experience!

1st Mazda
I’ve leased mostly Acuras over the past 18 years, and needed to shift because of personal budget changes. This CX9 fit the bill ( llterally and figuratively ). I got an amazing lease deal, and it’s a WONDERFUL car. One minor gripe I do have is the audio quality of the bluetooth connectivity when using the phone feature. Its very muffled. Other than that one small complaint, this CX9 comes highly recommended.

Mostly Satisfied
I purchased a new 2018 CX-9 Touring AWD in October 2018 and am writing this review 2 years later. The mileage is now 24,000. I purchased this car after careful consideration of multiple vehicles with the conclusion that this model made the most sense for my family. We needed a vehicle that could accommodate 7 passengers on occasion and that is why we chose the CX-9. The seats in the very rear work when you need them because of the very generous legroom in the second row. Second row passengers sit higher up than the driver/front passenger so they can pull the second row closer and allow more leg room for rear passengers. The real problem that everyone mentions with this car is the cargo area when the third row is occupied. There really is not much room, especially if you have a stroller and pack-n-play. Nonetheless I have done some long-distance drives with second row occupied and one of the third row seats down (other occupied), and have been able to accommodate 5 adults and a toddler in a car seat with all the accompanying luggage for a weekend. My family liked the CX-5 but we consider this car as a "stretch" CX-5 with more cargo area with the third row folded and the flexibility to take additional passengers when needed on occasion. In the end, our primary deciding factor for this car was the price. We paid $31,454 for a Touring AWD (without premium package) and the only option we got was the paint color. The MSRP for this vehicle was slightly over $37,000. We did not care about the sunroof, parking sensors, or rear window shades, but the base stereo is really lacking, so I regret not opting for the BOSE sound system, despite critical reviews I have read. Maybe in the future I will upgrade the speakers myself if that is possible. The infotainment system is also lacking, though it has been updated for 2021. The one we have is sluggish, though there are a great deal of settings that can be customized on the car. The other regret we have with this car is the buying experience. We did our research online and picked a dealer because they offered the car we wanted for the lowest price. When we got to the dealer, the car had 67 miles and it had been sitting on the lot for a year (possibly more - manufacture date 08/17 and we bought end of October 18). The dealer was surly when asked about this and even used foul language in front of us when we questioned him on the mileage (asking if the car was a demo or service loaner). Despite this, we needed the car for our family and decided to purchase anyways, so that is our fault for doing business with such rude people. Mazda could do a lot to improve the dealer purchase experience. Two years on, we still love the CX-9 comfort, performance (the huge amount of torque creates usable power that is appreciated daily), and styling. We live in a city and are averaging 21 MPG with lots of stop and go driving and very steep hills. I would recommend this car (especially the 2021 models with the updated infotainment system) to anyone - especially if you have a Mazda dealer with some sense of customer service.
CX-9 #1
Never owned a Mazda before. I am a Jaguar/Land Rover guy. The CX9 Grand Touring was a pleasant surprise in handling and appearance. Amenities are good. Could use a little more cargo space and heat should be distributed around the steering wheel as opposed to just the side positions. If everything holds up to expectations , I would not hesitate to buy another one in the future. Good, solid vehicle with nice lines and the soul red color is eye catching!

Awesome car, buying process took way to long
I have been a Mazda fan and owned a lot of Mazda vehicles over the years, I will say that the 2018 CX-9 is the best so far. Comfortable, great ride, good power. lots of room. Overall just a awesome car. We purchased the car from Classic Of Denton in Texas. Don Johnson was the sales rep and he did a great job, highly recommend him for your next purchase. Now lets talk about all the BS games dealerships play. We arrived around noon and left around 5. One thing after another, "i can't sell a car that cheap, We are losing money on this car, we are processing the paperwork......" the list went on and on. Its not the sales guys fault, its the process the dealerships build in to wear you down.I hate the process. Finance, what a high pressure sales environment, 10 grand down and he insisted I needed GAP insurance, if this car depreciates fast enough for me to need GAP insurance that says the car is bad. extended warranty, paint chip protection,,,, would not stop, Process took 3 times as long as it should have because of all the repeated high pressure sales techniques. I am glad I bought the car, I am happy with Don Johnson but classic needs to understand my time is valuable. next time if I am not signing papers within an hour I am out of there.
