A overall great suv.
Well lets start with the fact that i went from a 2006 BMW x5 to my 2014 cx9. The X5 was great for what it was. The CX9 is better for what i wanted. The CX9 is much comfier. It is adequately fast and adequately nimble. The X5 was way faster, more nimble and could break alot better. But its ride was extremely uncomfortable owing to all the sportiness of the vehicle. I enjoy the cheaper gas and the better mileage in the cx9. I enjoy the quiet comfy ride that is light years beyond my x5. The navigation in the CX9 does realtime traffic (with no subscription)... which i didnt expect or maybe that was something the dealer got for me since i got it as an add on. 4000 miles, so far so good
Water pump failure is a major issue
Purchased a used 2014 model year with 100k miles. Less than a year and 4K miles later, the car failed while driving with loss of steering power. Did some research and learned that this is due to water pump failure and that this is ranked #1 issue with this car. Apparently there is a class action lawsuit against Mazda on this very issue. The water pump is located in a difficult place so a local Mazda dealer quoted $2,300 for the replacement. The car itself is very nice, but I felt compelled to write this review based on my experience, so that hopefully others won’t go through what I went through. Losing power and steering while driving was very scary. If you are going to get it used, highly recommend you get an extended warranty. However, looking back, if I had known a possibility of a car losing power and steering while driving, I would not have purchase it even with an extended warranty. Serious accident could have occurred, such as veering and hitting an oncoming car. Trying to steer without power is extremely difficult.

Love it!
Had a Rav4 before this, and I thought I'd never be able to forget my Toy-ota.....boy was I wrong! Comfortable, great handling and power on longer trips cross state, haven't had a mech issue after 6 months. Have 2 kids and the car seats fit great, roomy, nice sound quality on the speakers. If you don't mind the gas price to fill this baby up, then it's a no brainer!
