Nothing even comes close!
This is a terrific car and great value. The car handles incredibly well, is nicely designed, priced fairly, and the interior materials are of higher than usual quality. My son helped pick out the car and plans to buy it for the lease residual purchase price. There were some annoying early rattles in the dash, but they got sorted out after a few trips to the dealer and the car is tight and clearly well screwed together. Of course more power is always nice and probably would bump the car to stellar status as a sport sedan. That said, the standard and only engine loves to rev, is smooth, and more than adequate. I have the 6-speed manual which is precise and fun with a light clutch. Nothing comes close as a stylish sport sedan at this price.

The Sedan You'd Swear Is A Sports Car
Is there a car in this segment, including luxury, that has a more sinuous and seductive styling than the Mazda6? If you were to ask me, I'd say no, that Mazda absolutely has created a car that is as much function as it is form. However, the car is much more than just the belle of the ball. It is a family hauler that is as much practical as it is athletic. With a few, albeit very minor, complaints, this car is the closest you will get to a German made equivalent without breaking $30,000. It's clear that Mazda spent The Mazda6's performance is better than what I would expect in it's class. Most people that are complaining about the lack of speed are likely referring to it's drag racing numbers. It's acceleration will not wow you like a Hellcat Charger or Chervolet SS, but that's not what it was designed to be. It is not a drag strip sport sedan, nor was it designed to be. For less than $23,000 after tax, title, and license, the Mazda6 is the car that has very peppy acceleration and an automatic transmission that you'd swear was dual clutch with how smoothly it shifts. It rides the road like it is on rails and teases you to push it harder on winding roads. It's like a large, practical Miata in many ways. It's not a numbers car, but that doesn't matter when it comes to driving it. It's a sedan that is fun to drive. It's a driver's sedan and is made for the person that doesn't mind taking the longer, windier way to work. While I'm sure it wouldn't be less enjoyable to have more power from the engine, the car is faster than others in it's segment and price and is balanced with how much power it has. The interior is a large upgrade from older models and has a very clean appearance. There is leather and aluminum accents throughout the body, replacing much of the cheap, hard plastics from the past. The leatherette seats in the Touring trim are very comfortable, being just soft enough without feeling like a recliner. The rear seats have plenty of room for a car that isn't a full sized sedan and the fronts seats comfortably fit someone who is over 6' tall. The trunk is quite spacious and leaves little to complain about. The media console and screen is a love it or hate it piece of equipment. Using it and the iPod like wheel makes it clear it is designed to distract from the driving experience as little as possible. While the car is in park or not moving, you can use the display's touch capabilities. While the car is in motion, you have to use the wheel in the middle of the center console. This can be annoying for passenger's that want to change the radio station or hook up their phone, but it's so simple and easy to use with the wheel, it's not a dealbreaker of an annoyance, at least not for me. The wheel has tactile feedback and you can easily begin to remember how many clicks in a turn it takes to get to whatever menu you are looking for. The shortcut buttons around the wheel are thoughtful and are the most common options you are going to navigate to. *I didn't choose to have navigation enabled on my car, so I can't make any comments about it's capabilities. You can enable it after the fact by buying Mazda's SD card and inserting it in the slot in the storage bin in the center console. All-in-all, you have a very attractive car that performs better than others in it's class and price range and is thoroughly enjoyable to drive. It is comfortable and spacious (as spacious as a mid-sized sedan can be), but drives like it's a much smaller car than it is. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a car in this segment. I would not recommend this to a person who is looking for a performance sports sedan, such as a WRX or Chevrolet SS, as it's straight away speed is not going to blow you away. But, again, this is not a car designed for that. It provides a comfortable ride with more than peppy performance and a great driving experience at an amazing price for the package.

Over 9 years original owner
I've had this car for almost 10 years and it has 83K. No issues for the last year and it is a good second car (2 car family). No reason to replace at this time, as it suits my purposes and owes me nothing. Replacing for something newer with modern tech. does not seem worth the cost as only drive 2K per year. No collision on insurance so another savings. I hope to keep for another 1-2 years. My family (retired couple) primary car is a RAV 4 Prime

Had me at hello...
I drove a new VW for the previous 12 years (leasing, turning them in on the next model) and thought I'd be a VW driver for good. Then, the Mazda 6 caught my eye. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was bored one Saturday morning and thought - what the heck - go drive one. I had no intentions of ending my VW lease early. Well, after I drove it - it was game over (in my head). Thought I had to at least listen to the salesman since they were nice enough to let me drive one. Turns out, it was more affordable than I would expect and I left with a 2016 Mazda 6. It was about $5,000 less expensive than the VW and had twice as many "toys". Far better safety accessories like lane change warning, back up camera, etc. It's a VERY comfortable car to drive and to ride in. The gas mileage is phenomenal compared to the VW - took a trip to the beach and averaged nearly 38 mpg! If I HAD to come up with a criticism or complaint - it would be that the glare from the front and rear windows is a bit much, making it a little difficult to see clearly on a bright, sunny day and the side view mirrors could be moved forward on the doors just an inch or two. I'd also rather be able to tilt the display down when not really in use - it sticks up kind of high and is permanently affixed there. Other than that - I LOVE this car, it had me at hello.

A Pleasing Alternative to Ford, Nissan, Honda
First off, I don't want a car everyone else has -- so that knocked off the fusion, accord, and altima (which are also terribly boring to look at or be in). After a 1,300 mile trip I can say a few things with certainty: The car does not drive as stiff as many reviews say, even with 19" wheels. I'd say if anything it's an average ride quality -- you do feel the road, but it's not like driving over a washboard gravel lane. It's not a luxury car, but in general, it feels like one more often than not (our last two cars were Acuras).
An engaging, practical, fun car for driving lovers
If you love driving and want a car that you look forward to getting into everyday, look no further. I have driven several mid-size sedans in this price range and no other vehicle comes close in terms of charisma and driving joy. I'll break this review down into things I love about this car and then get into some performance/technical details. What I love: - Amazing steering and road handling: This is the distinguishing factor in terms of driving thrill. You feel connected to the road and it really makes for a rewarding driving experience. This car can definitely handle corners very well in true Mazda fashion. The ride can be stiff, but that's the price you pay for great sport tuned suspension. Overall, the stiffness has never really bothered me so don't let it stop you from considering this car. This car also has a tight turning radius - a blessing when navigating tight parking lots or making 3 point turns. - Good looks: This car definitely turns heads and it looks just as good inside as it does outside. I've had this car for 8 months now and I still find myself admiring it from a distance. On the inside, the story is the same. My friends have commented on how upscale the interior looks for a car in this class. The finish and trim is more than good enough for the price, and the buttons/layout are all very intuitive and laid out well. - Electronics and Technology: Whether you want to play from your phone, MP3, CD, or USB, this car has you covered. You can control most of your music from your car's system even if streaming from another device. You can connect via USB, Auxiliary Cord, or Bluetooth. If you connect your phone to the car's Bluetooth system, the car will import your contacts, which is a huge plus. You can simply speak to your car and say "Call Mom" and it will do so for you. As far as music goes, the stock speaker system is great. It has a solid bass sound and all of my songs sound complete and engaging, so no complaints there. It is one of the better stock sound system I've heard in a car, and I bet the Bose package is even better. I put all my music in a USB Flash Drive and into the car's USB port, allowing me to select all of my songs through the car's Entertainment Screen. Speaking of the Entertainment Screen, Mazda are geniuses. They have placed the screen high enough so that the driver can make quick adjustments without wandering his/her eyes off the road for more than a split second. The last great thing about the Entertainment system is that the navigation dial, buttons, and volume control are all on the center console near the arm rest, allowing the driver to easily make selections with one hand in a relaxed position. Lastly, the Dual Automatic Climate Control is a fantastic feature that lets you adjust the cabin temperature to your needs. From my experience, the car warms up the interior fairly quick (about 5 minutes on a cold day). - Fuel Efficiency: For a car of this size and not having a hybrid system, this car truly gives you great gas mileage. I have averaged about 30.8 MPG for the life of the car (with mostly local stop and go traffic and a fair amount of highway driving mixed in). - Blind Spot Monitoring: Now that I have this feature, I don't know how I ever lived without it. The car has small orange LEDs on the side mirrors that light up when a car is in your blindspot. Although I always still check my blindspots, it's nice to have this level of backup to make more confident lane changes in highway driving or congested city traffic. - Practicality: The trunk is spacious, the backseats give ample leg room for average height adults, and the car isn't so large that it's a burden to park in tight spots. As promised, I'll give some insight on the technical and performance aspects of this car. - Fuel Efficiency: During the week, I mostly drive in city traffic and get about 27-28 MPG. On highways and long drives, however, I easily get around 32-34 MPG. Overall, I have averaged 30.8 MPG on this car total since purchasing it. If you can drive 50-65 MPH, that's the most optimal speed. At those speeds, I have averaged nearly 40 MPG on occasion. - Power: Although this is only a 4-cylinder engine, it packs quite a wallop. It has enough power to merge onto highways at high speed and overtake other cars. The Automatic transmission is smooth and the option of manually shifting is a welcome feature when trying to merge or overtake on a highway. The engine gives you the power needed for quick spurts of acceleration while maintaining great fuel efficiency. Overall: I love this car. If I have to go on long drives, I almost look forward to cruising in this car and listening to music more than getting to the destination itself. It is truly the most enjoyable car in its class and makes you happy every time you get in it. It combines the practicality of its competitors with the charisma and driving joy of Mazda. 5/5 stars.

Another great Mazda
Test drove Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and the Mazda 6. Didn't bother looking at Hyundai, as I have rented them and they are junk. The Mazda was by far the best balanced car. Only wish it had a V6 option to go with it's great handling. Doesn't ride quite as nice as the Honda or Toyota, but it has much better handling. No mushy steering or handling like the others. Excellent gas mileage, with nice interior layout and finish. I'm 6-2 and can sit very comfortably in the front and back seats. Great headroom/legroom in rear. Owned Mazda CX9 before this which never had any issues over 140K miles. Hopefully this will be just as dependable.

Very please with purchase
I have had two weeks with the 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring. I was also looking at the Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata. Overall I'm extremely satisfied. The exterior and interior are both beautiful and I have had many compliments about the car. While it's not the quickest, the engine is responsive and smooth. It handles great and the steering is tight. I love the bells and whistles the car comes with including the electronic parking brake, blind spot warning, navigation, back up camera, etc. Here are some minor issues that I have with the car in my opinion. However, the good qualities of the car far exceed the negatives. 1.) A bit higher road noise than I'm used to. 2.) The sound system is a bit weak for my taste. 3.) I cannot get the text message feature to work with my iphone 6. 4.) The usb ports are not easily accessible as they are in the center counsel. I would like them in front of the shifter for easier access. I also find it difficult to place my phone by the shifter. 5.) It seems to me that there are a lot of wasted steps with the Infotainment system. 6.) The trunk seems a bit flimsy and I wish that it would open smoother. 7.) The front leg room is not the best. I am 6'0 tall and I have to bend my knee a bit to sit and press the accelerator.

Great value. Love my Mazda 6
I've owned a Mazda6 GT with Tech Package for around 2 months. Overall very happy with the vehicle. The interior is very well designed and feels like a luxury car without the pricetag. The exterior design is very sporty and I love the look. The 19inch wheels stand out and make an impression. As other reviewers have noted, the car really handles nicely, and I don't really mind having only a 2.5 L engine. Putting the thing in sport mode before entering the highway gives me all the power I need. I really love the Radar Cruise control for driving in stop-and-go traffic. I only wish it was full range (would fully come to a stop when the car in front of you does). It's not to bad, it turns off at around 15mph, which is pretty close to a full stop anyways - which trains you not to trust it too much and that's a good thing. I also think the road noise may be only slightly worse than other cars in the class, having tested quite a few. Not a deal breaker in any way. The Bose sound system is great and easily makes up for a little extra road noise. The mileage I get is OK (around 28), according to the computer but I think it may be better once I remember to calculate based on actual fill-ups. I do a lot of commuting in heavy traffic. Having the iEloop makes the car decelerate quite rapidly to recharge the capacitor, so I think with some practice I won't end up using the brake nearly as much which will increase brakepad lifespan (and MPG). I like the HUD display, but I admit it did take some getting used to, and they really should have had the option of completely closing the plexiglass viewer for those who don't like it. As I said, in the end I do like having it and being able to see navigation, speed, and radar status without taking your eyes off the road. One thing I do wish is that the car had android auto because the Mazda voice recognition is a little rough around the edges; but you can get used to it and get it to do what you want to. However, I've seen rumors on the internets that future updates may include support for it. I'll believe it when I see it, but am very hopeful. Overall I would say that i'm very happy with my purchase, and I really don't think you'll find a better value in this price range. I think a 9 to 9.5 out of 10 is about right for this vehicle. Fingers crossed for Android auto.

There was a short list of available mid size sedans with a manual transmission. I thought the Accord was at the top of my list until I drove the 6. I went into the dealership with no intentions of buying. I wanted to enjoy the process of test driving researching and decision making that I had in front of me. Needless to say after the test drive my salesmen put an offer on the table I couldn't resist and honestly didn't want to. I would love to have more power from the engine but what guy wouldn't. However with the manual transmission the car accelerates quickly and I haven't had any trouble merging with traffic or passing when necessary. The other complaint I have heard is head room in the back seat. At 6'1" I had no issues while riding in the back. The infotainment system takes a little time to get used to but seems to work well. Individually there are a few things that could be addressed but that's the case with anything we buy. As a package the 6 is hard to beat. Especially at the price point.

Mazda's got a winner, now so do I
(Update) I've put about 7k miles on the car at this point and I stand by my review; the car out-classes its rivals at this price point and really does live up to the published comparison tests. I went on a weekend trip (about 300 miles) and averaged 41mpg highway @ 70. Under normal use I get around 30 combined highway/city. With the 17" rims the car rides just as nice as my 09 Accord did but it handles even better, with minimal body roll and good grip in the corners. The interior is pleasing to the touch with good materials and the switch gear offers positive feedback when used, the only sore spot for me are the sun visors which feel mysteriously cheap when compared to the rest of the interior (rarely used so no biggie). The Mazda's drivetrain offers good low-end grunt that my Accord desperately lacked (also a 4cyl/auto car) and its down-right snappy when you put it to task. The seats are comfy and you've got good visibility. Honda lost me on the new Accord because of the CVT transmission, but I did drive a Camry SE which felt decidedly cheaper inside and was not as athletic as the Mazda, I also found the Camry's engine a bit noisy. I'm 6'1" and the seat offers more than enough travel to get me where I need. Overall I really enjoy the car, not just because it's new (my Accord was also purchased new) but because it's a solid Jack of all trades car and it's hard to beat the price, so do yourself a favor and go check one out!

Hands down the best car in its class
In March of 2013 I purchased the new Kudo designed 2014 Touring with the added Technology package and I loved it. The car was a joy to drive, averaged 33.4 mph on mixed town/highway, looked great and had plenty of bells and whistles to keep me and my newly driving teenage daughters happy. A few months ago I began to receive offers from various Mazda dealers trade in my '14 for a '16 with some good monetary incentives. So, after doing some online research and talking with a local salesman I took the plunge and upgraded to a 2016 Grand Touring a few weeks ago. All I can say is wow! As impressed as I was with my older 6 this refined '16 model blows me away. While the Grand Touring definitely upgrades the amenities available what has impressed me the most is the improved overall drive quality. The steering is crisp and firm, the car seems to feel more solid on straightaways and curves while the overall noise level, something that was a bit of a negative before, has greatly improved. The acceleration, while nothing spectacular, is responsive and fluid throughout, but improves greatly with a flip of the Sport mode switch. The seats are also more comfortable while providing greater overall support and the entire interior presentation has been tightened to near perfection in both quality and ergonomics. The things that bothered me most about the interior before, the small 6" center touch screen, push button start location and air vent ranges have been all been improved. It is obvious that Mazda listened to their customers and dealerships and made a concerted effort to fix even these minor bugs. So, all in all I have to say I am thrilled with my decision to purchase the '16. Fuel economy thus far is a full mpg less than my last 6 at 32.4, but I attribute that to my fairly frequent use of the abovementioned Sport mode. Something I am more than comfortable with! Mazda has taken the gem of the class and made it better. I can’t recommend this vehicle enough!

For the love of driving.
Okay, I am a mom. A mom who loves to drive, can change a tire, and does not get her nails done. Not many automakers still a manual transmission in a sedan, but Mazda does. This was a huge selling point in the Mazda for me. I got the 6 over the 3 because the back seat is much roomier and the increase in size doesn't totally wreck the fuel economy. Granted, it is not the most powerful engine, but it is absolutely sufficient. It handles great and really is fun to drive. My only complaint is that to get the grand touring trim package, you lose the manual transmission. So, a touring it is.

Four door sports car
Sit low to ground like sprts car. Great six speed manual. Fun to drive. Not a dog, just tuned cleverly for fuel economy. Torque max is 3,400 rpm, allowing great gas milage at normal rpm shifting, and mellow driving, unless you want, or need more, then, put your foot into it, and it will go. The best of both worlds. Window on rpm gauge lets you know which gear you're in, and when to up, or down shift. It will tell you to go from 6->3 going down a hill. But tough seeing down, and long, so have to swing out wide going around corners. Lovely styling. Understated performance, and drivability. Not a "Hey, look at me!" car, drive-wise. Simple, but functional. Likable.

Zoom Zoom Indeed
I chose the Mazda6 after having driven a Camry for 12 years. While I have no specific complaints about the Camry, it wasn't exactly fun to drive and the styling was pretty much the definition of generic. Before looking at the Mazda6, I test drove the Toyota lineup (Camry, Corolla, and Prius), and just couldn't get too excited about them. After reading reviews on Edmunds.com and several other sites, I decided to take a look at the Mazda lineup. Both the 6 and the 3 met every criteria on my list; low cost, good performance, good mileage, and distinctive styling. I am very happy with the mileage numbers I have been getting, well above the published numbers so far. The styling of the Mazda6 is also very satisfying, it has a distinctive look that separates it from most of the other sedans on the road which all seem to have the same basic derivative designs.

Love my Mazda
I only have about a 1,000 miles on my Mazda 6, but so far I have loved driving every single one of those miles. Grand i Touring trim I got is a great alternative to a luxury sedan like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. for a fraction of the cost. The materials seems to be very much on par. There is a ton of gadgets that come standard. It's a joy to drive and I hope has a low cost of maintenance (my previous Mazda did), which really puts to shame BMW, Mercedes, etc. No regrets. Love the car. If I have one request, it's that Mazda think of the tall people and have more head room. That's about it.

Mazda 6 w/ personal upgrades
The Mazda 6 is a sporty looking car with enough engine power to get me on the highway off the notoriously short on-ramps of Pittsburgh. Especially when sport mode or the manual shift is engaged. The infotainment system was good but not great. However, there are modifications that can be made to make your car feel more personal and stylized. Overall I've been enjoying my car.

The Magical Car
Update to the below original review. This car at over 130k miles drives like a new car still, and looks new also, both on the inside and out. I have only performed basic maintenance on it, all at the dealership, and aside from that nothing else. Car has not had a single issue, and the relatively quick brake wearing has gone to what I consider normal, new pads every 60k+ miles. I still love this car! I am just furious that Mazda has stopped making it, as I wanted to purchase another 6, or a Mazda EV, neither of which they will make in the near future. I am the typical car guy, obsessed with cars, and I’ve owned everything from Honda’s, Acuras, Toyotas and many muscle and sports cars. But never a Mazda because on paper they always seemed under-powered, which to me meant no fun. Boy was I wrong! First of all the car is gorgeous inside and out. I have family members who own high end luxury cars and every time they get in my car they are amazed at the quality, stating that my Mazda is nicer than their cars which cost 2-3x more. The comfort and room in the car is great and the practicality of the car is amazing. I have easily fit a 60” TV fully boxed up in the trunk area when the seats are folded down. My children, one of which is 6’6” tall, sit in the back seat with comfort. The only thing I notice a bit is that when larger friends (over 6 feet tall and over 250 pounds) get in the passenger front seat it can be a bit of a challenge. In terms of performance, gas mileage and reliability, all fantastic. The car zips around town and on the highway, I’ve never wanted for more power (and my last two cars were 500+ hp cars). Gas mileage is amazing. If you drive the car with care, you will easily get the sticker mileage. I personally on several round-trip 500 mile round trips have done 42 mpg when I use ethanol free gas and keep the speed to 65 mph and drive the car very gently (less than 2000 rpms is the sweet spot for mileage). Without using ethanol free gas and driving with a heavier foot I will get 32-35 mpg all around town and on the highway. It terms of cost of ownership the car practically pays me. I have a 2016 with 80,000 miles (purchased in 2015) and I take it to the dealership for all maintenance and I have only done oil changes every 5-7k miles, rotated the tires and changed the coolant once. No transmission service on this, which is crazy. I practically begged the dealership to service the transmission and they said it is not needed on this car. Also the Mazda dealership always puts me in for a $20 coupon with Castrol Oil which I get in the mail, so my regular synthetic oil service costs me about $40. Reliability has been great. The only odd item I have had is that at about every 30k miles I have had to have the brakes rotors turned as they seem to warp fairly easily. The electronics in the car are by far the easiest to use of all manufacturers. I travel a lot for my job and use many rental cars, and the Mazda infotainment system is a joy and very intuitive to use. In terms of fun to drive the car is a blast, no it is obviously not a muscle car with huge power, but it handles fantastic, shifts great, and is too much fun to drive. Usually after 2-3 years I get the itch for a new toy, but not the case with this car, I love it more than the day I purchased it. In summary all I can say is that Mazda has made me a customer for life, I actually just bought my son a Mazda3 which we all love to drive, and I look forward to my next Mazda purchase!

An all-round great performer!
I owned a Mazda (Tribute) for 12 years, and was happy and comfortable with Mazda. I went in for another SUV (CX-5), but sat in the Mazda 6 and really liked it. Then I drove it, and like it even more. Then I purchased it, and really fell in love with it. It has everything you need in a mid-sized sedan, plus it has that famous Mazda Zoom-Zoom. Plenty of electronics, full luxury package. I especially like the split back seats that can be laid flat and goes through to the truck. You can fit something six feet long in there, which gives the vehicle tremendous flexibility. The car handles great (in the Sport mode), looks great, and feels great.

Mazda6 - does exactly what the reviews say it does
This car comes as advertized. It gets rave reviews in this segment, and lives up to them. It looks great (especially in soul red) and its so nlce to drive (even as an auto). I have the Touring with a Bose sound system, which is very good. It also has the "leatherette" upholstry, which I'm a little dubious about, but it's good enough to pass for real leather and it beats cloth (which most cars at this price have. Time will tell if it stands up, but I haven't heard of any issues. I really like this car. I'm European and I'm used to cars that are fun to drive and respond well to enthusiastic driver input, and this ticks the boxes for me, but i also have a 50 mile highway comute, which is a quiet and comfortable experience in this car. If you are in the market for a mid-size sedan, you have a lot of good cars to choose from (the Honda Accord comes closest, and the Ford Fusion isn't far off) but if you want the best of a good bunch, this is it!

Love this Car!
This is my third Mazda and the first one I've Leased. I owned 2008 Mazda 3 and a 2012 Mazda 3, which I liked but the 2016 Mazda 6 Touring is a Completely different car...and in a good way. The car really looks great Inside and out. I have the "Soul Red" with a Sand Interior...a very nice combination. Driving, it feels taut and competent with very adequate power, unless you're a street racer. The Auto Trans shifts very smoothly. It is Fun to drive. I Love having the Rear Camera, Blind Spot and Cross Traffic Monitoring, something I think EVERY Car should have. I had rented a Volvo S-60 for 23 days (and 1,600 miles) just before getting the Mazda 6 (due to an accident). I liked it. But the Volvo costs $10,000 MORE than the Mazda 6 and IF they were the same Price....I'd Buy the Mazda 6! I test drove a lot of cars, actually every car in this segment. Most of these cars were good and I could have happily lived with them, but the Mazda 6 was the Best without a doubt....Oh, I forgot to mention how good the A/C is. I live in South Florida and it IS Hot here but the A/C in this car is More Than Up to The Task...

You'd swear it was a sports car!
This is my second Mazda 6. My first was a 2004 Mazda 6s manual transmission with a 6 cylinder engine, but after many years I had to trade it in. I was concerned about the lack of power in the 2016 Mazda 6 because it only came with a 4 cylinder engine, but they did a great job with this engine and I even think the get up and go is better than my last Mazda! I did sacrifice my manual transmission due to lease price, but overall I'm happy with how responsive the automatic transmission is. It can be a little lack luster going up hills, but that's to be expected, just put your foot on the gas a little more and it does fine. My boyfriend recently bought a 2012 Subaru Legacy, and he's jealous of my Mazda and how quick and agile it is! If you're considering getting this car, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND paying the extra $300 and getting the red paint color... it is GORGEOUS and I have no regrets getting it :) Pros: Responsive engine making it super fun to drive! Hugs corners, steering and braking is very responsive, great interior styling and comfort, easy steering wheel controls. Cons: ENTERTAINMENT TOUCHSCREEN! I don't know if mine is flawed or not, but it has reset 3 times, losing all of my saved radio stations and messing the clock up. I turned off the GPS so it doesn't automatically try to figure out what time your in based on your timezone, and that seemed to have helped. It also restarting while I was driving once, which was weird, and messed up my iPod for a day... so really not sure why it's having issues. When it's working, which is most of the time, it's great! But it has some bugs that needs to be worked out. Also, I feel like I have no place to put anything in the front, there isn't a spot for change like in other cars I've owned, so that's a little frustrating, but just a minor problem while the rest of the car has been great! Lastly, I have hit my head trying to get in and out of the car a few times, which makes no sense because I'm only 5'4"! If you are a tall individual, you may have difficulty getting in and out of this car.

Love the Ride!
After owning small trucks for the past 25 years, this is the first sedan I've purchased in a long time, so I was a little nervous about making the change. I've had the Mazda 6 GT for about 3 months now and all fears are put aside. What an enjoyable vehicle to drive! Great acceleration with a sporty feel. I love driving in sport mode and it doesn't seem to have a noticeable affect on the mpg. Mostly city driving so far, and have averaged about 29 mpg which is pretty good. Absolutely love the interior and the information center is easy to use. My only complaint is that the rear view mirror with homelink is a bit bulky and limits visibility, but it's not a major concern. Very stylish exterior.....giving me the odd experience of randomly having four (so far) strangers come up to me to complement the color and styling (I chose the Titanium Flash Mica color which I still haven't figured out what that means -- but for simple minds like mine, it's a cool-looking "brownish" color, and the light interior really complements the darker exterior quite nicely). I test drove several sedans, and the Mazda 6 really stood and felt more like a luxury car without the luxury price.

Oh What A Car!!
This is my second Mazda 6 as I had a 2005 6 with a 140,000 & the car ran great. When the new 6's came out I was intrigued to say the least. I took one on a road test at an auto show and really enjoyed it. I didn't pull the trigger & I am glad I didn't. When the 2016 slightly redesigned came out I thought I would drive it again. I bought my car 5 days ago & I LOVE it! All of the features that come in the car are awesome! The ride is great! The handling & styling are unbeatable in it's class! I absolutely love the front grill lights, headlights, & LED rear tail lights. I am 6'3" tall & the car has plenty of leg room. I can't wait to go to work in the morning so I can drive this car. This car beats the Accord, Camry, & Fusion in all areas! Take one for a test drive & you will be driving it home!

My $23,000 car thinks it's a $35,000 car
The Mazda 6, even in base, "sport" trim, is a beautifully designed and executed car. The exterior lines are gorgeous, the interior is crafted with top quality materials, the handling is top-notch, and fuel economy approaches hybrid territory. Some drivers may find the ride a little firm for their tastes, but the car is biased in favor of top-notch handling as opposed to having the most supple ride over bumps. The drive-train, however, is silky smooth. Also, the car's acceleration will not pin you into your seat like a BMW M5, but the engine delivers 35 to 40 mpg on the highway, and passing performance is far more than merely adequate. This is the least expensive car I've ever leased ($249/mo for 36 mos., 12K mi/yr., with absolutely nothing paid at signing), and it's by far the best value of any of the 9 cars I've had in the past 14 years. In fact, I think it compares favorably to, say, my last $35,000 Infiniti G, though without quite the punch but with twice! the fuel economy. I'm amazed that Mazda doesn't sell far more of these vehicles--why buy a boring Accord or Camry when you can have a beautiful Mazda 6 for the same or less money? Zoom zoom.

Great value
I have had my 6 Manual Touring for a month and 1000K. It is a fantastic value...I got fog lights and navigation (which can be added by the dealer for $400 or so). 22K even out the door. The fit and finish are very high for a car of this price and the car turns heads. It is a sexy, well styled sedan. I have had 4 and 5 people in the car and it feels fine. The back seat is quite roomy for kids and adequate for adults. There are a few areas where you can see costs were saved, but honestly, these are minor and I enjoy driving it more than my old Audi A4. I am averaging 31mph in mixed driving. I highly recommend this car. Put the extra 10-20K you'll save over a "luxury" brand in your kids college fund. UPDATE: 7 months and 5K miles in. I still really like this car. I get 29 mph in mixed driving, but am not the most conservative driver. I would say it isn't quite on par with my old Audi in terms of fun to drive, but that is reflected in saving 9mph (in a larger sedan) and 15K in purchase price. Backseat is roomy for kidlets and I am generally very happy.

Traded in Lexus IS for 2016 Mazda6 GT and love it!
I traded in my 2008 Lexus IS 250 which was fully loaded for a new Mazda6 Grand Touring. At 250,000 miles, the Lexus was getting expensive to maintain and I wanted to update technology. Going from a luxury car, I was worried that the "feel" of the car wouldn't be the same. With the Mazda6 GT, in some ways I like the interior better and the car feels great. I don't feel like I am missing the quality of Lexus at all. I am missing AWD as FWD doesn't handle quite the same, but overall I am incredibly happy so far. The car drives and feels great!

Great athletic car for daily driving but...
The Mazda 6 is a great sedan that is athletic and performs well in daily driving. It isn't the most comfortable in terms of handling bumps and occasional pot holes...It has a fairly sporty suspension which trades some road manners for excellent handling. However, on good surfaces and long highway stretches it is as good as any competitor for comfort. It is pretty quiet and visibility is okay...honestly could be better in the rear. In terms of mileage and performance, leave the car in sport mode...I found I'm getting consistently good mileage - and of course performance, in sport mode. In eco mode I am able to average 32-33, but I sacrifice performance. I've owned the car for a year and a half and now have 42,000 miles on the odometer. The automatic transmission in sport mode behaves much like a manual, you can feel it brake when you let off the acceleration. It offers good power for passing and isn't particularly loud. That said, it would be nice if it had a touch more power. Overall a super nice car for daily driving. On the downside, I would not purchase again simply because it is expensive to repair even minor dings let alone major work. Unfortunately it is filled with plastic panels and plastic clips. Those are costly to replace and not particularly sturdy. Driving in the city has its hazards..and road damage is sometimes one of them.

Super fun to drive! Zoom Zoom!
I love my Mazda 6! And even more that I was able to get an awesome deal on it thanks to Edmunds. Do your research online before ever going into the dealership. Edmunds was a great resource for this. I negotiated online by email and had a pretty firm price before I even stepped onto the dealer lot. I emailed several dealerships and was able to have about 4 to choose from in the end with about the same deal. Focus on what you're final price is for the car, not your payment. You can always refinance at a lower rate elsewhere after you purchase the car. Use an online auto calculator to figure out how much car you can afford so you know what price you want to ask for.

My first Mazda ever, lost a lot of time with other
I never owned a Mazda, but feels like I lost a lot of time with other brands. This car feels like a much more superior car in every aspect. Very very surprised with the Mazda 6. I don't think I'll ever buy another brand in this price range. A year passed and my Mazda is still the best sedan I'd ever owned. Not a single problem, everything works fine. Love my Mazda 6.! Still going, no problem at all.

Mine but not mine
I love everything about this car...except that it is my husbands daily driver instead of mine. It is the most beautiful car we have ever owned. The white with the light leather interior is stunning and classy. The car is super comfortable for all our long road trips. I know it seems too pretty to do it but we even take it camping and on dirt roads in the mountains. It puts up with everything we put it through like it was just a warm up for the next big event. Thank you to Mazda for making such a great car! We will be Mazda fans for years to come. Now it is a year later and the car is doing great. I was worried about the light colored interior holding up with all the outdoor activities but it isn't showing any signs of extra wear or discoloration. My husband still LOVES his car and I love my Mazda3 too!

Very satisfying driver!
I've owned this car for several months and I am overall very pleased with how it performs. As someone who loves driving I sought out a midsize sedan with a well engineered manual transmission. That is not an easy task as there are fewer and fewer options. Also I hate CVT transmissions because the ones I've driven are unresponsive and the fake shift points annoy me. This car however delivers the goods with a real 6 speed manual trans that is very well thought out and extremely fun to drive. The car handles well, accelerates adequately and is comfortable. When you have a manual transmission seating position is critical so you can reach the clutch and pedals in comfort and again the 6 offers excellence. It took me 1000 miles to find the best seating position but with all the different controls on the power drivers seat I found my spot. The transmission works extremely well and you can tell even thought Mazda knows there aren't many Americans who will choose the manual they still did their homework and engineered a fantastic six speed box. It helps that this car is offered internationally in countries where people still seek out and buy manuals. I am surprised to see others on this site getting mileage in the mid 30's as I average about 25mpg. I do live in an urban area and do a lot of city driving so that could be one reason why. I love the dual exhaust and the resulting growl you get from it when accelerating. You won't get that with an Accord or Camry. The car has been extremely reliable so far. I have over 6000 miles on it already and all have been trouble free. Inside the car the dual zone climate control works flawlessly and the stereo is very good but not excellent. The drivers seat takes some getting used to as it has aggressive thigh an side bolsters that you would expect in a sports car but not a mid-size sedan. However once acclimated to them I find them extremely comfortable and supportive. Not sure if folks whom may be on the heavy side will find them comfy. My friend who is 5'7" tall and weighs around 300 lbs drove it and said the seat just didn't fit him. I did not have the navigation software installed although it's refreshing to know that I can have it uploaded anytime for around $300. Other than that I love the dial on the console that controls everything in the interface including radio, phone and when installed navigation. I LOVE the volume dial for the radio being on the console as well right next to the interface dial. It may seem odd at first but once you get used to it you'll appreciate it. Speaking of the interface the bluetooth works extremely well with my LGV20 smartphone and google maps through the phone gives me turn by turn directions with voice over the speakers. I have but two gripes about the whole car. The first is that the Pandora widget installed in the car does not work with Pandora on my phone. It drops it constantly and is very frustrating. However you can listen to Pandora flawlessly with the bluetooth connection but you don't have as much control of Pandora using that method. Finally there's the proximity key. Using the "walk away lock" function on the car you are supposed to be able to get out of the vehicle and walk away from it and it locks automatically. My experience is that this only happens about 50% of the time and the Mazda dealer does not have an answer. Also the electronic parking brake is supposed to automatically release when you take off but it also only works about 50% of the time. The parking brake thing may not be a big deal to those with automatic transmissions but with a manual you use the parking brake all the time. If it's supposed to automatically release then it should automatically release every time not just when it feels like it. So having said that I must say that despite a few electronic glitches I absolutely love this car and as someone who has owed 20+ cars in the last 30 years this car is one of my favorites. It's a great car. I dig the fact that it was assembled in Hiroshima, Japan. I believe that Japanese cars that are engineered and built on the continent are the best examples of what Japan has to offer in the automotive world. Call me a purist. If you are looking for a midsize sedan that is different and a little quirky compared to the bread and butter Camry, Accord, Altima and Fusion do yourself a favor and test drive a 6. You may very well be pleasantly surprised!

2016 Mazda 6 isport
I have been driving Mazda 6 sport for the past 2 months and I absolutely love it's driving dynamics. The only complain that I have is a bit of wind noise that comes in while driving in highways, but I can live with this considering the awesome handling this car provides.
2016 i sport
Have seen mostly i Tourings so I wanted to give an i Sport review. The Great- Looks and handling. Easily the best looking car in the class and lets face it, it's nice having something different than everyone else. Car either has incredible handling or everything else I have been driving is poor. The good- Stylish interior and infotainment system. I really like the interior design but I have to admit...it takes a little getting use too. When I first drove the car, I thought it was almost weird. I don't like that the infotainment display always returns to the home screen. Should default to a channel list. The seats are also a little narrow as others have mentioned. My parents hate this car because they can barely fit in the seats. Aside from those minor things the interior and infotainment system are good. The bad- The only real bad things about this car are the head room around the window areas and the trunk. The trunk is nice and deep but the entrance to the trunk is small. It is difficult to fit items into the entrance. Also, when you try to reach things out of the windows its difficult to see what you are reaching for...The window is small around the door frame and at 6'2 I have hit my head multiple times. Overall- Had I rated this car after the initial test drive, I would have rated it a 2* but like other posters the longer I own this car the more I like it. It has great pick up and incredible handling. Gas mileage much better than others in this class.

Lots to Like About Mazda 6
I have been driving, and thoroughly enjoying my Soul Red Metallic 2016 Mazda 6 I Touring. First of all the Soul Red paint is gorgeous and really emphasizes the very sporty sheet metal. The car looks great from any angle . The interior is very well done and the fit and finish is tight with every element blending together handsomely. The leatherette seats are quite comfortable and provide very good support and comfort. It took a while to get used to the Commander Control. After learning how to use the control knob and associated buttons I like the system except for tuning to radio stations. Contrary to most reviews I do not find that the P255/45 R19 tires give the Mazda 6 a harsh ride. And those tires have provided great grip and traction on both dry and wet pavement. Yes the pavement imperfections will be more noticeable than in a Camry, that is part of the driving experience that makes a Mazda a Mazda. The steering allows the driver to feel the road and helps to make for a satisfying driving experience. Even with the black interior, the A/C has been up to the task of quickly making the interior comfortable on the many 95+ degree days of this summer. I am very much pleased with this car. And six months later I still hold true to all of the above. I still find the Mazda 6 to be a fun car to drive and to date am very pleased with my decision to purchase this fun, sporty car.

Sexy Car, Great Handling -- Needs a Turbo
The steering and suspension tuning are fantastic. This car handles like nothing else in the segment and is as good as some European sedans costing a lot more. It is light and athletic. Some consider it too stiff, but I think that's because most cars are too soft. There is elevated road noise, but anyone buying a Mazda shouldn't be surprised by that. In terms of styling, it's easily the best-looking car in the class. The interior is nice, although it's idiotic that heated seats aren't available in the Touring trim with the manual transmission. I didn't buy the car with the stick to save money; I opted for the manual because I love driving and wanted the extra level of engagement. I also live in Colorado and prefer manuals in snow. My mother's rinky-dink Ford Focus has heated seats. You can't get a sunroof with the Touring manual, either. I do like the rotary knob and button cluster (media controls) on the center console. I have never and will never touch the screen. The controls are intuitive and the separate volume knob is a nice touch. I don't have a phone and do not care about Apple CarPlay or Android whatever. The main gripe with the Mazda6 is the lack of power. Plant your foot in second gear and it can't get out of its own way. It's a total dog. The engine is naturally aspirated, but you get the sensation of turbo lag until about 3000 rpm. Mazda has decided to drop turbo 4-cylinder from the CX-9 in this car for 2018; I don't know what took them so long. It's also worth mentioning that this car is dreadful in snow. I maintain a ridiculous following distance in snow and try to time lights, because I run the risk of getting stuck at traffic signals in anything more than 2 inches. I don't know how much of this is attributable to the stock Dunlops (allegedly "all-season". . . sure they are) or the car's low curb weight (3,179 lbs.), but traction is pitiful. I originally wanted a Subaru WRX, but decided not to test drive one because I didn't want to know what I was missing. I settled for the 6 and kind of regret it. It's a very nice car, but I just hate the lack of power, which is exacerbated by elevation (my house is at ~5900 ft. above sea level). Overall, it's comfortable and delivers acceptable fuel economy (~26 mpg in city driving). Oh, and be mindful of the front fascia; it's very low. I have to back out of my driveway at a 45-degree angle to avoid scraping it on the curb.

Updated Review #3
My update to this review is: I sold the car. All of the things I reviewed before (below) are true; however, I could never get past the fact that the car was just not fun to drive. The power/ Gas mileage trade off sucks the fun to drive element from the car and the handling is average, at best. Update after a year and a half of not having the car, I don't miss it at all. I am a big Mazda fan but unfortunately the new Toyota Camry is more fun to drive than the Mazda 6. (I drove a 2018 Camry rental car all last week. The 2016 Mazda 6 GT is a great car with a few features short of being equal to any Audi, BMW or Mercedes. The great: 1) This car is one of the most beautiful cars on the planet. 2) The interior of this car (2016+) equals or exceeds any luxury brand. 3) Gas Mileage is phenomenal. 4) The build quality of this car is awesome - the best of any car I have ever owned. 5) The adaptive LED headlights are AWESOME! I can't imagine ever owning another car without them.

Best Car I've ever had!
Just bought the sport version. Absolutely love it. I got a little bored of Camrys and Accords...Long term...I don't know what to expect, but short of the lack of AWD, I think anyone would have difficulty finding a sexier looking car with its handling, performance, gas mileage...etc....for the price. Amazing car.

Only 2 things keep this car from being epic.
1. The 6 desperately needs another engine option. - Performance is merely adequate. It pulls well from 3000 rpm to redline but below 3000 it just doesn't move well at all. Unfortunately the automatic transmission does it's best to keep it below that rpm when in standard mode. 2. Infotainment system needs Carplay/Android. - The built in navigation works ok but entering addresses is tedious. Integration with smart phones is expected in this era. Aside from those two things I can't say a thing bad about this car. I had a Mazdaspeed 3 for 9 years before this one (maybe why I'm so sensitive to the engine performance). I was looking for an auto transmission in my next car. The 6 transmission was the easiest for me to live with. Sport mode makes a big difference. Shifting is smooth and predictable and it seems to be in the right gear for the situation much better than any of the others I tried. The interior feels much more upscale than most of it's competitors. Mazda has managed to refrain from over use of exaggerated angles and weird lines. The layout and function of all of the controls is logical and works well. Road noise and ride comfort are much improved from my old car. Other cars in this segment might have a softer and quieter ride but they are boring and make an already tedious commute even less enjoyable. I am averaging 35mpg and have seen 40 (reported on the computer) when driving mostly highway. I would buy this car again... but I'd get the manual so I can keep it in the sweet rpm spot.

One of the better cars out there
I only have a couple of issues with this great car.........a little under powered, but if you use the manual override on the automatic transmission you can get great performance. Yes there is more road noise and you feel the road more, than the altima i had before, but it is a sports car and handles extremly well. Last the seats are tight against the center console so when drop stuff i cant get to it......nobody has payed me off for this evaluation

Test drive a Mazda6 = go home with a Mazda6!
Preface: My travels place me in a rental car every month. I am profiled to be in cars ranging from Cadillacs to the 600 to a new Camry. They are all great cars by the way - american cars are really good now, but nothing compares to my purchase 22 months ago when I bought a 2016.5 Mazda6 Grand Touring, Saying the car is impressive is an understatement. My vehicle came standard with all the upgrades a GT brings (19" tires, full leather, Bose, Moonroof, etc.) and Premium package adding the upgrades like Lane Change Assist making this car to me fully loaded; did not have the cruise control upgrade (later driving a loaner during a service I am glad it did not). The performance, the handling, maintaining it, warranty coverage for issues easily score 5/5, Bose 3/5, Bluetooth 3/5, luxe feel inside car 5/5; suspension 4/5, comfort 4/5, gas mileage 3/5, stock Dunlop tires 4/5, other components 5/5. The Mazda6m i feel is the best driving and best performing small sedan out there. It beats the Accord and the Camry like a bad dog! All the write ups are accurate - of these three in a comparison the Mazda wins hands down, and its true. My car today has 41,000 on it and I drive it - I really drive it! I would say that I "get after it" when driving and with this car it is easy to do. 100% of friends riding in it have made comments about how beautiful, luxurious, smooth handling it is. All are true! I have heard more than one time "wow, this is a Mazda? They really stepped up the game". Statistics don't lie - 100% of the people riding in my car say one of those comments. I think by eliminating the Parchment leather interior option would be smart. It's beautiful but it is a nightmare to keep up with - and I am pretty meticulous about maintaining my car. Not a good pick for 90% of you out there, maybe myself too? The exterior is Titanium Flash Mica and simply put - freaking gorgeous! The paint does chip more than I think it should from stones in the road though. The infotainment - for as much of an improvement coming from a Honda product, it honestly could be updated and more user friendly with better graphics. The Dunlop tires *stock on 19"* are loud and terribly expensive but they still have 40% tread at 41k miles with amazing handling and wet handling so no real complaints there. Maintaining at the dealership is inexpensive. Mazda is known for reliable cars and this one is holding true - with original brake pads on it still and nothing pressing for a replacement, original battery and its reliability display by me is a 5/5. I have the heads-up display - and I love it but think it could have had more functionality with more options to beam to it. The car's overall ride is ok. The roads in Houston are among the nation's worst and the Mazda6 with the high performance tires allow each bump to be heard and felt, but it is specific to this city and otherwise it rides pretty well. The MPG is surprisingly not as good as hoped (with AC on) I only get 18-23 mpg on a tank but I do drive it robustly. Highway (with AC on) 26-30; no AC 30-33 mpg, saving the overall rating for the 174 hp it produces. Last thing - resale. It really doesn't do that well, the value plummeted to about $18k for a $33k car within these 22 months, Fortunately I have no plan to get anything else, but it bears mentioning, I am not sure why because I feel this car is a 4/5 overall and it is without a doubt my favorite car out of my 16 cars I have owned. Mazda is underrated by the public but it shouldn't be. Go drive one and you'll buy one like I did! Updated Review Nov., 2021 The Mazda6 is turning 5 next month and it now has 85,500 miles on it. The only things that have required attention were: Brakes & Rotors (at 77,000 mi) Battery (Jan 2020 - 3 yrs is the avg here) Tires (44,000 -2nd set; 80,000 3rd) Grand Touring Rims Issue The smoked paint flakes off rim 1) received new set in 1/17 Fr Mazda 2) received a rim refinish on all 4 in 7/19 By Mazda South 3) ended up having all 4 diamond coated in black metallic since the car was out of its warranty & flaked off for 3rd time. No issues since with rims. 4) new shocks and front struts. And that’s it! As you can see tell the only issue I’ve had with this car are the rims. When new, they were beautiful but within 12 months or so they would lose their clear and the paint would just fall off. It happened 2xs on 2 sets of rims so I don’t know what causes that. Mine are black diamond coat and everyone (but me) likes it better :( like this. My 2016 M6 GT has never been out of service mechanically not even one day during my ownership (which deserves acknowledgment)! It is still my honest opinion (now having owned Toyota, Honda and 2 Mazda’s) that a Mazda is an underrated value for the money and I’ve gotten much better overall customer care from the dealership as well as Mazda of North America about stitching that came apart from my driver seat - covered ! Nothing ever required my Toyota to be out of service either but my ‘12 Accord was an entirely different story. I laugh that people are so bought and sold by the success of Honda’s marketing team. My Mazda is hands down 10xs the car my Accord was and if I didn’t live in flood prone Houston I would get another but will move to the CX line due to this, which breaks my heart.

2016 Mazda6: Wanted one since 2013.
I should preface this review by saying I am a total Mazda fan. My wife has a 2013 Mazda CX-5 that has given us 3.5 years and 33,000 miles of trouble free service. Before my 6, I had a 2008 Mazda3 for six years and it was rock solid reliable and a ton of fun. Ever since the new Mazda6 design was previewed and released in 2013, I've practically drooled over them. I wanted one for years and finally made it happen in October 2015. My Deep Crystal Blue Mica 2016 Mazda6 i Touring sedan stickered at a little over $27,000 with its options, which included Bose stereo, power sunroof, blind spot monitors, and rear cross traffic alert. With my trade-in (the aforementioned Mazda3) and some haggling, I paid a little over $21,000. What can I say? The car is fantastic. It rides smoothly (although it does have some road noise thanks to the 19-inch wheels), has plenty of power for accelerating and passing, handles like a dream (seriously, no front-wheel-drive family sedan should be this fun on a curvy backroad), gets great fuel economy (I average 26 in the city and 34 on the highway), and looks like a much more expensive car than it is. My wife and I are planning on having a baby within the next year and the 6 has plenty of rear seat room to accommodate a child seat. Cars.com car seat safety check gave it an excellent rating as well. I should also mention the trunk is huge, another good thing for a sedan to have. The only negatives with this car are the road noise (nothing extreme, just more prevalent than a Camry or Sonata), and the front seats can be a bit narrow for...um..."wider" people (I'm included in that group). I have around 3,700 miles on my 6 and look forward to many, many more. UPDATE: Just crossed 10,000 miles. No problems to speak of, except the driver's seat bottom upholstery flaked in one spot. This seems to be an extremely isolated incident as I can't find other reports of it anywhere. Regardless, it was taken care of via warranty by my Mazda dealer very quickly and I was provided the option of a loaner car in the interim. Update #2: About to cross 15,000 miles with the 6 and zero issues. My son (our first child) was born last week and his car seat fits well and there is still plenty of legroom in the front passenger seat (his seat is installed in the rear passenger position). Update #3: Approaching 24,000 miles now. The only issue I have had besides the aforementioned seat upholstery problem is loose chrome trim on the rear decklid. Again, it was replaced quickly under warranty by the dealer. I was given a new Kia Sportage to drive in the interim. The car says I am averaging 26.5 MPG, but my driving is virtually all stop-and-go in the city along with a lot of short trips. According to my own calculations, my actual average MPG is 27.9. The only thing I can fault the car on is its lack of heated seats. The "leatherette" seats are especially cold during this relatively brutal Kentucky winter. But, that's my own fault for going with a Touring model instead of a Grand Touring. Update #4: Four years and 45,000 miles later, I’m still loving my 6. No issues to speak of aside from needing new brakes a bit sooner than I expected. I got high performance Raybestos rotors and pads. I replaced the battery, as well, because it was getting a bit weak during cold morning starts. I am having remote start and heated seats installed in the car next week to celebrate just having paid it off.

10 month review - 2016 Mazda 6 GT
3 year update: I’ve had this car for 3 years now. Still getting very good mpg. Mazda finally came out with apple car play. Rims are still peeling and I went over warranty mileage so I’m on my own. Overall good car and I’m happy with my purchase. Love this car and I would definitely buy it again. First the cons: The trunk opening is very small, I have difficulty putting bulky items in. Ride is a little stiff, but that's to be expected with 19 inch rims on the GT trim version. A little noisy on the interior still, but much better than the 2015's I test drove. First couple of days I kept hitting my head while entering the car. One thing I didn't find out until after I purchased my car was that the infotainment system locks you out of almost all the options screens if you are driving. This was annoying when having to stop to add my passengers phone to the Bluetooth device list. A simple google allowed me to find a hack to disable that feature. All 4 of my rims started peeling less than a year from purchase (covered under warranty) and my rotors have gotten warped. Nothing that can't be fixed though. Pros: Handling is amazing. Love the look of the car. Fuel economy for 60highway/40city is around 33mph. Love the Leatherette. At first I though the digital speedometer was a gimmick, but I've learned to love it. The folding rear seats are great for large items.

A BEAUTIFUL Thing
Don't understand why Mazda doesn't sale more. This is a great car. Had car for almost a month with just under 1000 miles s, haven't been on freeway yet and still average 32mpg. Drives great, best looking mid size on the road. For the price, couldn't have purchased a better value. After months of research I am very happy with my choice

Who’s competing?
Why did I buy a Mazda 6? I could bore you with all the details about the fuel economy or warranty package. Even tell you about the amazing reliability it has afforded me. I could go on about how comfortable it’s been on my several road trips. Yes even rave to you about the size of the trunk. I won’t tho, I’ll only tell you why I bought this car over the Camry, accord, Altima, legacy, Malibu, fusion. Simply put, it’s the best looking. Compared side by side with all the other base model midsize sedans, it’s the only one that can fool you into thinking it’s got a secret. Which in fact, it doesn’t, which is good! Approaching year 3 of ownership and I still can’t beleive I haven’t had one hiccup with this car. I still get complimented on it, and I still get great fuel mileage. I won’t win a drag race against a similarly equipped accord. I won’t go further on a tank of fuel against a Camry... but When I walk out of my house, to my Mazda 6 Sport, where it matters, I’ve won.

Mixed Emotions 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring GT
I've been leasing this car for a little more than 8 months now . My intention was to buy the car at the end of the lease, but today I find myself already looking to get something different. I"ll tell you why. First, I think the drivers seat is very uncomfortable. I'm an average sized man 5'10, 205lbs. The seats are too narrow. The sides of my legs get pinched by the seat bolsters. The seat seems to have broken in some, not as bad anymore but not great either. I have to drive with the seat back as far as it can go to get enough leg room , then this causes a visibility issue out the drivers window . The B pillar is in my line of sight . To look left out the drivers side window I have to lean forward quite a bit to see down the road clearly. Blind spot monitoring is a must. Very difficult to see out back window or over left shoulder. I'm always adjusting the seat to try and achieve a satisfactory mix of good comfort and good visibility. The day after I brought the car home it snowed 4 inches. I drive 30 miles to work on rural roads at 4 am so the roads are usually not plowed. The Dunlop tires on the car did not perform well , so this winter I bought a Winter tire and rim package from Tire Rack. I was very excited to get snow this season and it's snowed at least 4 times 4 inches or more. The Mazda6 is either too light or the traction control doesn't work well because I don't have very good traction in light or moderate snow. My 1997 Honda Civic with Douglas all season radials handled better in the snow than the Mazda6 with Michelin snow tires on it. Very disappointing. The infotainment screen has went blank twice and also froze where none of the controls worked. I turned the car off and on a couple times to reset the system. I called the dealer and they say they can't diagnose the problem unless it's still glitched out when I bring it in. I like the idea of the Active Driving Display but I don't like the plastic screen. The display should project onto the windshield. The screen is always in the up position even with the display off. I turn the display off at night because the display projects off the the screen onto the windshield right in my line of sight, very annoying. Eliminate the screen. Wind noise starting around 45 miles an hour. My 2009 Hyundai Sonata was a lot quieter. The mazda6 has a lot of good points though. I like the way the car handles and feels on the road, feels spirited. I get upwards of 35MPG mostly highway driving . The interior materials feel upscale not cheap . I like the layout of the dash and the commander dial for the infotainment system. I have every available option on this Mazda6 and I think it's a great value for the money. My favorite features are body styling, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, dynamic bending headlights, shiftable 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, Bose Stereo, bluetooth, and the heated seats. There are too many options on this car to list everything I like .

Sharp car great value
Not many on the road compared to overabundance of Honda Accords, Toyota Camrys, and Nissan Altimas. Sporty but not fast comfortable ride set on sporty side, good handling. For a mid sized car very good fuel economy, EPA at 38 mpg Hwy Opted for Mazda over Cadillac ATS 2.0 Turbo because unsure of Caddy's long term reliability overall and turbo in particular. Only have about 1000 mi. on car so far but very happy. With Grand Touring package has almost every option, very nice sounding stereo, like heads up display

Back in a Mazda 6
I had a 2015 Mazda 6 and loved it. I get bored with cars fast and always go back to Mustangs. I traded the 2015 Mazda 6 Touring in for a 2016 Mustang GT. I love the Mustang GT, it was pretty much my dream car. I have a small family and after only a couple months missed the Mazda 6. 3 months after trading in the 2015 Mazda 6, I traded the Mustang in for a 2016 Mazda 6 (yes I took a big hit). I think the Mazda 6 is a great car and the only car I have ever missed after trading it in. The Mazda 6 is great value for what you get.

Love my Mazda 6
This is a terrific car for my needs. I upgraded From a 3 and it was a great decision. I love the updates and upgrades to the car. The engine power isn't quite what I'd hoped for but it's enough. The car handles great and feels great around me. And I think it looks fantastic.

Number 3 will be my last!
Since my last review, I have had to bring the car back twice for the same warranted brake problem. I decided to sell the car, and found out that the resale value is so poor, that after paying off the loan, I cant even get out what they paid me for my trade. I am stuck. This is my third Mazda 6 in the last eleven years and it will be my last. The gas mileage has been a big disappointment, and no where near the advertised results. My previous five year old Mazda 6 with 66,000 miles on it, had better pickup than this 2016 with 5000 miles. The climate control is sub par, with no ability to circulate the outside air without A/C or heat. Changing the station on the radio has become a three step process.
