I have 2023 soul GT line and I must say I am impressed with it I have owned a lot of cars in my Time from Durango’s to challengers to even the for pinto lol but for the price you can’t beat it! It’s fun to drive plenty of room and comfortable yea the engine could use a little mor pep but it will get out of its own way when needed and highway driving is great pretty much just keep your finger on the wheel and this thing drives it’s self for miles and miles I get around 30 mpg in city and upwards of 35 highway.

Great vehicle for the money!

Had this car for a month and it has met or exceeded my expectations in almost all areas. Smooth and quiet ride even at highway speeds. I am averaging 31 mpg combined, right at the advertised fuel economy. Seats are very comfortable front and rear. My EX black interior cleans up easily even after grandson spills- the hard plastic on the front seat backs is actually helpful in this regard. The six speaker sound system sounds great to me with no distortion even at strong bass settings, if you are using high quality audio such as YouTube Music or SiriusXM. The LaneKeepingAssist will make a gentle tug on the steering wheel when engaged, but it is easily overcome by the driver. My only minor gripe is the default on Idle-Stop-Go feature which will turn off the engine at stop lights after about 20 seconds. The effect is most noticed on hot days when running AC fan high. When ISG engages, the fan speed will go low while the engine is off. The feature does disengage immediately when the car moves. I understand ISG is driven by EPA guidelines and is now on many new car models. At least Kia puts the button to turn off ISG in an easy to access location right next to steering wheel. But you do have to turn off ISG each time you start the car. My guess is most drivers will find little to complain about with this vehicle, given the price point. However, Kia should really make LED headlights standard. For 2023 in the US you can only get LED on the GT line with a premium tech package. One more tip, the 5 year bumper-to-bumper and 10 year power rain warranties are great. But the electronics factory warranty is only 3 years. So your dealer will still try to upsell a longer warranty. Do your homework on other extended warranty options before purchase, so you can assess if the Kia platinum plan is the best deal.

This is our third Soul. 2015 and 2019 models absolutely trouble free. 2023 is nice too however, we great extremely loud squeal from the brakes when backing up every day for the first time. Dealer claims this is normal, "every car does that." I don't think so, the other 2 didn't, none of the other cars in the family, 4 in all, do it. Anybody else have this happen?

‘23 Soul S is fantastic, except for the headlights

I bought a 2023 Soul S. I wanted the S trim because I’m tall and didn’t want a sunroof. The only complaint I have is the headlights. I drove it at night in the rain, and I was literally driving blind.

Problems with less than 5k miles on it

I have a 2023 Kia Soul with less than 5,000 miles on it. Within a few days of owning the car, I noticed a clunking around under the baseboard driver’s side at every stop sign. Took it in to be serviced and was told something was loose and it has been fixed. Within weeks of owning the car, I was backing out of our driveway, and suddenly my car decides to apply the emergency brakes, make loud noises, and abrupt shaking. Scared the crap out of me. There were no collision risks. I took it in two separate times for the automatic emergency braking malfunction while going 1 mph in reverse, and they told me no issues were detected. This problem still happens from time to time and it still scares the crap out of me. The motion is so jerky, I don’t know how it couldn’t and there are still no collision risks around when it happens. Then the electric controller for idle stop and go oil pump was recalled. This recall is a fire risk and says not to park in your garage or near a building as it can catch fire while vehicle is on or off. I took the car in to have the recall serviced. They confirmed it needs to be serviced but didn’t have the part and would contact me when it came in. A couple of weeks later I took the car back in for the recall and when they were done servicing the vehicle, I drove it home. On the drive home it sounded a bit like a wind-up toy car when I hit the gas. I thought maybe that’s how it was supposed to sound with the fixed oil pump. The next morning I started the car and it made a very loud winding sound like the belts were in overdrive and if I kept it on, something was going to overheat. I turned off the car and will be taking it back in to get serviced, although they might need to come pick it up this time. Prior to the recall, the eco boost feature had worse gas mileage than not using it. I haven’t been using it since the recall notice was delivered. On a positive note, I really like how the car looks and how the interior feels. I am so bummed about the other issues.
