Fun to drive with style!
Bought for my son as a high school graduation gift. He drove the Cube & xB & the Soul was by far his fave. Great style, fun to drive, very roomy inside & fantastic features standard in this model. Build quality is excellent. Stereo system rocks. Ipod connectivity works great. No complaints so far. Add the great warranty & you have a winner compared to the Nissan or Scion. Got 1.9% APR financing as well as a great deal. Nice job, Kia!
Love my Soul
I love my "Little Big" Soul. It looks small but has great room inside. I love the fact it is "different" looking than most cars on the road. Handles great.

Great Car - Buy one!
I spent a lot of time comparing the RAV4, CRV, Outlander, and others. The price, features, MPG, warranty, and most important question "Do I like this car" led me to buy the Soul. I have put on 7,000 miles since May 09. I drive 60 miles a day and have taken this on 4 trips so far. I can truly say I am VERY happy with the Soul, how it is built, comfort, and MPG. I am 6' tall and there is plenty of room for me to sit. My 6'7" brother in law can also fit into this car! Front and side visibility is great. Rear visibility is good. Handling is great I saved $5 - 6,000 over a RAV4 (which was my 2nd choice). I am planning on driving this til it dies, we will see when that is!!
Soulfull
I started looking for a new car in Oct. 2008 and bought my SOUL! IN May 2009. I was in no rush to buy so I test drove Nissan, Chevy, Dodge, Jeep, VW, Suzuki and what I didn't test drive I research and talk to owners of the cars i was interested in. I first went to my dealer to look at and test drive a Suzuki sx4.(a great car) but it was a little small for my needs. That's when my dealer so me the Kia Soul. I test drove the Soul at three different dealers each on different road conditions (I was not gentle and was please how the car responded in each situation I put it in. I been approach by many people who are impress with the room and design of the Soul. I to am impress.
Still Up in the Air
We bought this car for the fuel efficiency and we got a good trade in as well. Got the base model but made them put in after market cruise control with the purchase. The cruise control looks and behaves cheaply. The dealership was shady and I'm not sure they aren't screwing us. It seems that after the last time i took the car in for it's scheduled check-up some warning lights came on. Even after they did a diagnostic! I'm going to get the equipment to run diagnostics myself. The check engine light comes on for a loose gas cap.
Road trip review
We just returned from a 2500 mile road trip in our new Soul+. Car handles really well on interstate and winding 2 lane roads. Great directional stability. Reminds me of a slot car! Short wheel base does result in jarring ride on bumpy roads, but not a deal breaker. got anywhere from 28 to 34 mpg, doing 70-75 with air on. Our + has the black interior, and it does tend to scuff up pretty quick. First car I have had in many years that allows you to see the ground when you look in the engine compartment! Lots of room in the interior and you sit up higher than a sedan. even higher than the PT Cruiser we traded in. Plenty of power for normal drivers.
It's early, but so far so good.
I was shopping for a 2006 Scion xB(the newer one grew way too big and milage sux), but it was hard to find a good one where I live, so I checked out the Soul. For only about $1,000.00 more than a used 2005-2006 xB I got a 2010 Soul with the great warranty. This box on wheels is a bit longer than the xB with a tad more room behind the rear seats and a longer hood. It is ugly with far to "busy" exterior styling. I prefer the early xB or the Cube for looks but the interior is laid out better in the Soul with the instrument cluster in front of the driver for easier visual access. I wanted the best gas mileage so I chose the base model, 1.6 L engine with no automatic transmission available.
Bless My Soul+
Moved from a 1987 Grand Wagoneer via CFC into a Molten Red Soul+ manual. Bought it sight unseen after driving an automatic at the dealer, and waited two weeks for delivery. Glad I took the risk - love the pep, the room (I'm 6'3", 265), the visibility and especially love shifting again! Wasn't my first color choice, but was one of only two 5-speeds available - now I really like it. "+" trim level offers best ratio of price to features. Under the hood very easy to see where everything is. Whole family loves the car - I'm a "cool dad" at 50! Would love a sixth gear for highway speeds. No issue with wind or road noise at present. "Masking" of headlight beam is odd, especially on a bumpy road.
Love our SOUL!
We have had the Soul for little more than a week and we love it. Supposed to cater to the younger set. Well I am in my upper 60's; so guess what? The car may not ride as smoothly as some of your luxury cars but it has all the bells and whistles they have and cost THOUSANDS less. So far no complaints. Also I am a first time foreign car buyer.
It's Ok
Great interior space and a bunch of standard features. Excellent light clutch, braking and steering. Nice fuel economy (30 City/30.5 Hwy @70- 75mph), but I believe it could do better HWY with a 6th gear. (3000RPM @ 60mph) Very noisy at speeds over 60mph. Plenty of air bags and excellent warranty. Great value.
This is a KIA?
First time I ever bought a KIA. What took so long? I had a Grand Caravan, needed something smaller. Looked at the Xb, which is nice the Soul is better. While it has a smaller cargo area compared to the Xb, the rest of the vehicle makes up for it ten fold. I have in car blue tooth a kick butt radio, mood lights, and more all for under 17k. Not bad at all. It rides nice, I live in PA where we have a ton of hills, it has more than enough power to navigate. This car is fun, my kids love it. It looks nice. Mine is Molten. I just can't say enough of how great this car is. The fit and finish is great. The warranty is great. If you are worried because it's a KIA, don't. Just test it. You'll love it!
HAPPY WITH SOUL
I've been driving cushy Volvos for the last 13 yrs. So this is different for me. Cushy it's not. The seats are quite firm. Being a beefy guy, I find the seat bottom width a tad too narrow. Then again, I'm used to very wide leather seats. Other than that, fit seems to be very good. Much peppier than I had thought. No problems getting up to speed or merging on highways. Controls are very good and easy to use "intuitive". Looked at the Scion XB. Way too much money. The cube is just wierd. My kids love this car. I think the lighted speaker is dumb. Am I supposed to dance to it? Maybe at 56 I'm just too old to get it. So far very pleased with my decision.
I love driving this car
I love driving this car. I love the room and not visiting the gas station as often anymore. I do recommend this car. It is small on the outside but big on the inside.
LOVIN' IT
This is an awesome little car. We went from a gas guzzling Mazda 6 to this awesome 31 avg. MPG car. This is our very first new car and what a buy! There have been no issues. Our MPG is just amazing to us and we are saving money on our payments. If people don't like that it doesn't have auto everything I say to them,"QUIT BEING LAZY!". As for MPG, if ya can't get great milage, maybe try keepin it in ECO MODE or just try driving the speed limit. This isn't a Ford, Nissan, or GM, this is in a class of it's own. One awesome car, way to go Kia.
Love my soul
Husband just picked up a Kia soul automatic and we love it. It's fun to drive, comfortable to ride in, and has plenty of room inside. We got the alien green color which makes the vehicle look sharp. Going from driving a Chevy Cobalt to a Kia Soul is like night and day. The Kia soul is better quality, more features for less money, and a much better driving experience. I feel safe driving in the Soul and my daughter has plenty of room to stretch out her legs. I look forward to taking many trips together as a family. I would recommend the Kia brand to anyone looking to buy a good quality car.
Great car for the money
Okay, so I've only had my Soul for a few days, but it has already won me over. Is there some road noise, sure, but it isn't excessive and for under 19K what do you expect...really! And I don't know what some reviewers mean when they complain about the power, I've got the 2.0L engine and unless you're looking to drag race from the red lights, what do you expect? THe car is solid, has all the bells and whistles, great milage, is fun to drive, and has more get up and go than the average day to day driver needs.
Great Value
Just bought it tonight after looking for several weeks at xB, Fit, Element & Cube. All the included features and warranty just can't be beat. I wanted a manual transmission again to teach son how to drive and this will do just fine. Not sports car shifting/handling but not expecting that anyway. Our family of four is very comfortable around town which is 95% of drive time anyway. Very stable on road. 18" wheels slighty less give than 16" on the + model, but the rest of the ! features were worth it. So far so good!
Transmission Failure
Vehicle would be fine if it wasn't always in the shop being fixed. I had a transmission failure at 9,000 miles. The won't warranty won't cover it because the vehicle leaked it's transmission fluid. Which is also the fault of the dealership. The vehicles are being sent with low fluids, and dealerships aren't checking them. The vehicle has minimal power even with larger engine. Best part of the vehicle is the looks.
Good Enough to Drive
I like my Kia Soul.It is a nice car It gets me from point A to Point B. Problem is has large blind spots almost got into two accidents in two different ocations I really had to move my whole body just to make sure there is no one beside me in order to get into the choosen lane.I also feel the road bumps :( those are my experiences with my Kia. Its cute,But..... they have there flaws.
MPG
I own the base, On the highway I can easily hit 37MPG. Great car, have to love getting a vehicle for under 13K
I'm a Soul Man
I took advantage of the 'cash for clunkers' and I went from a '98 Grand Caravan to the coolest ride - a 2010 Soul+ in Alien green. I love it. It attracts as much positive attention as would an expensive European car. I'm 6'4" tall with long legs and I cannot believe the room inside the car. I want to wash this car often because I am happy to be seen driving it. You have to love a car when you're making payments. My wife offers to drive when we go out - that's a benefit I never had! Advertised city MPG is 25 but I average 23 MPG as a careful driver in Eco mode.
I'M THE FUNKIEST DRIVER IN CLIFTON PARK!
I just purchased my alien green Kia Soul ! and LOVE IT! Everyone at my complex loves the looks and equipment too. It's a smooth drive, plenty roomy, many fun options (especially those mood lights!) Visibility is great. I don't know what some of the reviews mean by excessive road noise over 60 mph - I don't notice anything significant and neither does anyone who has ridden with me. Good handling, quick to respond and excellent brakes! My dog, Abe, has plenty of room to stretch out and relax too - who would have thought when I adopted him that one day my dog would have a Soul? (Ha.) I'd recommend this car to anyone!
New to KIA
I've had my Soul! for about a month now. First KIA I have ever owned. Seems to be built solid. Doesn't have the get up and go I'm used too, but it will do. Seats are not as comfortable as my last SUV, but that's understandable given the cost of this vehicle. I think KIA has done a great job. The biggest drawback are the lack of accessories available. The dealership shows pictures of everything that is available for the Soul, but they are not available in the US right now!!! I called KIA motors and they didn't even know when and if they would be available. Seems like they got the cart before the horse this time! Still a great fun vehicle though. Would recommend it to anyone.
Great for a Korean Car
Put 3200 miles on the car in a month. I do a lot of driving for work all over NJ. It's got great handling and I get 31 mpg on a mix of city and highway, mostly highway. It does significantly better with highway at speeds of 65 mph. It starts to really eat the gas at speeds above 70 or 75. But hey, that's all cars. Design is good with plenty of nifty storage areas. Nice look to interior but yes, it does scuff. I'd ask for an interior light directly over the trunk area. Speakers only light up in front seating area. As to engine power it is a little slow to respond sometimes, but completely reasonable for its size. No mechanical problems thus far. Feels pretty solid for Korean. Cheap!
Love It
I've had my Kia Soul since April and absolutely love it. I've driven from Toronto to Nfld eastern U.S. and back not one issue. So far has been as reliable as my last Kia (05 Spectra) I've also discovered that the rear stow and go (being made of hard foam) makes a perfect cooler when traveling. Just throw in some ice packs, drinks and your set or a couple of days!! Very versatile car great in the city and long drives. Hae not experienced any issues with highway noise. Lots of great extras for the price. My only 1 bug is with the Front seatbelts. They release quickly & if not carful will cause small scratches to the plastic on the doors. I know I'll enjoy this car for many years to come.
Fell in Love before I even bought it....
I saw this car online and I fell in love with it before I even test drove it. I have driven few cars in the past and I don't believe in spending too much money for a car. This car meets all my demand, great design, great car, great mileage, great features, great safety features...can't beat the airbags in this car. I never thought I would buy a box car but the Soul won me over. I never liked the Scion and the new Nissan Cube is too ugly to even mention. I bought my car a month ago and I have nothing to complain about. For the features and the great price.....this car can not be beat. I had to drive 3 hours to get the car and it was more than worth it.
Soul is a Plus
I've had my soul + a week. 2.0L automatic has enough pep for me, but then I've never been a gunner. I really like the vision I have when driving this vehicle. The seat is as high as many of the mid-level SUVs. More space than most of the Japanese wagons/cross-overs in it's price range. I would have like to had saved $$$ off the MSRP; but they wouldn't budge. Not a good buying experience; but I'm enjoying the car.
We Got Soul!
What a ride handles great w/sport suspension a little harsh the ride on very rough rodes. 2litre engine is packed with get up and go from exit ramp to hiway speed 65 is very impressive. The interior seating and overall roomines is excellent. Again Sport suspension has it's pluses when cornering Soul is sure footed no body roll around corners @ 45 + mph. VEry well equipped we added LED interior lighting and in rear cargo the factory light is poor we added strip Led lightinging to the left and right side along the upper and lower seam where the rear panels meet. 3k + miles and enjoy driving our Soul everyday. Soul is a Great CUV.
Major FUN FACTOR to drive
My parents bought a Kia Sorento and let me drive it and I was highly impressed with the quality and "solid" feeling of the auto. My Dad mentioned seeing the Kia Soul at the dealership and instantly thought of me. I was driving a 2009 Black Corolla and had buyers remorse. It just didn't have the gusto and zip I so desired. Even the inside felt cheap and flimsy. So on a whim I went and test drove the Kia Soul only to instantly fall in love with the zippy responsive ride. The Soul is the funnest auto I've ever driven. Everything from the outside to the inside of this auto has been well designed. I actually look forward to driving again and am planning roadtrips with my friends now. DRIVE ONE!
great car
I have to admit - I'm very pleasantly surprised. Exterior is cute, inside is perfectly built for both a small person like me and my much taller husband. Seats are comfortable and roomy. The car handles very well, very responsive to stops and turns. Lots of room in the back. It's a big hit with my teenagers - from the cute design to the speakers that flash to the beat of the music. It's a lot of car for the price. Much more fun to drive than my old Honda Accord.
Love it all but....
I just recently bought this vehicle to replace a dying 15 year old Pontiac. Like everyone else, I have complaints about the scuffing on the interior and how easy that is. Otherwise I think it's pretty neat so far. However, I live in Michigan and we get a lot of snow. The Soul does not do well climbing out of two inches of snow, which is disappointing considering the size and the lift of the vehicle. Have a set of chains or a shovel ready. :
You get what you pay for
Fun for the price, drives like what it is, a fancified econobox. Good sound system, nifty bluetooth. Seats not very comfy for short or tall drivers in our family. The fancy stereo distracts you from the VERY plain and basic everything else.
our soul
we were looking for a fun economical vehicle, this seems to fit our wants at a fairly affordable price, interior is comfortable, ride and handling are good, acceleration off the line is good as well, cargo space is better than expected in a vehicle of this type, as well as comfortable 4 adult seating, incredible sound system for a stock system. rear blind spots take some getting used to, overall we enjoy the vehicle, and have no issues as yet at 7000 miles, only disapointment was advertised fuel rating is 30 mpg, and we are averaging 27-28 consistantly since new, which is still respectable, but disapointing for a vehicle of this size
Front, Back, Side-to-Side
My gf and I drive the Soul Igntion Edition which is so attention grabbing. I gotta say I have a smile every time I drive it. We drove down to Philly last week and really got to see how great of a car is. We had no issues parking, the cruise control is so easy, gas mileage was superb, sound system is so crisp regardless if your listening to satellite or your Zune. Love the seats and the height. The throttle is so responsive although the brakes are a bit of a learning curve but will stop on a dime in no time. The bluetooth is so cool, it automatically connects you when you enter the car and it downloads all your numbers so all you have to do is press the bluetooth button and say the name!
Love the Soul Sport
I have had my Soul for a few weeks now. It was my first new car purchase. It is definitely a change from my previous Pontiac Grand Prix, but thus far I am really enjoying the vehicle! I'm not sure if it is just my vehicle, but one complaint is that I cannot use the automatic shutoff device on the gas station pumps, as they shut off about 1 second late, and about a cup of gas will overflow from the Soul's tank each time. It was something that never happened with my old vehicle, but it consistently happening at EVERY station I've filled. I definitely recommend the Kia Soul!
Where's the five speed auto and navi?
Kia has come SO close, but how could they offer an ancient four speed auto - this vehicle crys out for another gear an no navigation, while they were able to include speakers that light up? The red Sport interior trim is garish as well. Other wise this is a great vehicle, but these are two glaring ommisions.
Love this car
Bought a Kia Soul a few weeks ago and have to say this is the most fun we've had with a vehicle! So far the gas mileage is great, and all the little extras like the blue tooth capabilities, usb plug in for the radio and the satellite radio have made it a joy to drive. We originally looked at this car because of the safety features and gas mileage, which is great for a vehicle this size, but we were truly wowed by all of the extras. I especially like the seats, its very difficult to get comfortable in a bucket style seat if you're tall, the support and adjustability on these seats and steering wheel make it a really comfortable drive. Not to mention having the radio controls on the wheel-A+
Great All-purpose hatchback
I really love my 2010 Kia Soul. It has enough passenger room to carpool with four adults and I can fit all my music gear in the back for band practice. The interior is great - especially the stereo and easy-to-use steering wheel controls. I choose the Kia over the Scion xB or xD, and am happy with my choice. I think the Soul hits the size sweet spot between the original and redesigned xB.
Most fun and value out there !
Purchased our Dune Exlaim after 1 year of driving everything in this class. Purchase experience from Joe at Liberty KIA in Prescott was the best. Meets all our needs for space, gas mileage and sound system. Build quality is superior to American cars owned. Love the driving position / visibility and it's fun to drive. Glad we did not get the automatic as 5 speed is more fun but takes some time to drive it smoothly. Clutch is very light and easy. Ride is firm but controlled as expected. Love the Dune color and interior design. Controls are in easy and sensible reach. Has all the goodies my Saturn Aura XR had for 1/2 the price. It's not a high speed driving machine but what do you want for 17K.
Winning Car, Wishing for More
The Soul is a huge hit. Fit and finish are flawless. The neat features and electronics give it a unique personality. Headroom is outstanding. Where it misses: Not enough cup holders and pockets to store things usefully. Mileage is not what I hoped (averaging around 26). But front seat is too small and unsupportive. If you are above average in height or build, front seat will be painful for anything but very short trips. But car is FUN and so well built.
Best car I've owned
Fun and roomy car with lots of features for the money. The Plus with 16" wheels rides a little better than the larger wheels with low profile tires. This is a great little car to drive. Seating is great. Cargo area with rear seats down is very good. A very safe car for the money. I would buy this one again with not a thought.
SOUL IS THE BEST
I never thought I would write a review on a car, but I must say that I would recommend this car to ANYONE! I was a little afraid of how it would handle in bad weather and got stuck in BAD weather last night and the car handled better than any car I have ever owned. (about 30 different cars). Even next to MACK trucks in horrible rain, this little car was truly AMAZING and you would have never known it was such bad weather! I really do love this car and I am so happy with my choice to get it!
Perfect Soul Mate
I test drove the Soul twice, couple of days apart. I wanted to make sure that my initial impressions were not due to an impulse, a sudden urge to have it ... as it was love on first sight. Because love is blind, the second time I drove it back-to-back with the new with Mazda3 and I tried to pay close attention. Both times the car felt exactly the same. Friendly, inviting, somehow familiar. Safe, willing, cooperative and cheerful. Cool and cute and very good looking. I say those are the qualities of a perfect companion. A soul mate, if you will. No other car I ever owned felt quite the same way. That's how I knew IT IS THE ONE!
Love my Soul
This Little suv is fun to drive I've owned it for two day's now and my husband and I love it. I tried out Honda Element-HondaCRV-HondaFit-and Ponticac Vibe- and Subaru Forester and the SOUL all in one day. The soul won We traded in a 2005 Nissan Frountier I recomend this to anyone....
Love my car but
Love my car. Interior skuffs easily. At 15300 km I found a bulge in my tire. Dealership claims it is my driving, the tire store says the belt has shifted. The tire is a Nexen CP662 P225/45R18. Anyone else finding the same problem??
great choice!
I had wrecked my car only to find out that it was totaled and had to go on a shopping trip. I went to Hagerstown Honda because that is where I ALWAYS go, great people, great prices! Well I had a car salesman named Britton who was AMAZING. I told him the type of car I was looking for (and it was supposed to be used) and my price range. He said he had the perfect fit for me... he pulled around in the very same car I ended up purchasing. As soon as I got in I loved it. Its a fun little ride =)
Shadow Soul Plus
I bought this car for a daily round trip commute of 36 miles. It's a good car with adequate gas mileage (28 mpg city/hgwy). It's fun to drive & provides good vision down the road. Does have a right side blind spot that requires one to be aware. It is a good value.
HOT! HOT! HOT!
It's HOT! Got 1st RED Sport in SF bay area. So many stares & people coming up to me in parking lots, etc. Everybody wants to know what it is & where they can get it. For a while, I just handed out the dealer's business card! So fun to drive!Overall visibility is good cuz you sit a little higher up. Fits tall people-- had a 6'6'' passenger & still more head room! Great at turns & U-turns-- no more 3-point turns for me! Audio system is the bomb-CD/Ipod/USB (just plug in USB flash drive & have TONS of music)and interior LIGHTS that pulse to music(yes, gimmicky & a little juvenile, but so very fun.)Go up steep hills & accelerate like a champ(turn off the econ-over-drive for more power.) I LOVE IT!
fourth kia
The Soul is the fouth kia I have owned and all have been trouble free and well made. The Soul is a unique design inside and out. It's loaded with features you would normally pay for as an option. The ride and interior sound level is excellent. My only upgrade is the 315 watt sterio with sub woofer, lighted speakers and front center speaker, 8 total. I would highly recommend the soul to anyone looking for a mini suv.
FUN! SPORTY!
Awesome features, peppy engine, awesome looks, I am 6"4 and fit very well and seat isnt even all the way back
