Used 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid SUV Trims Comparison

Trim level differences

The 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid is a small SUV with three rows of seating that can carry up to six passengers (the second row has captain's chairs). It's available in two trim levels: S and EX. Both are powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine paired to a hybrid system and a six-speed automatic transmission. Combined output is 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is an option.

S
As with most Kias, even the base-level Sorento Hybrid S is well equipped. The only notable option is a rear-seat entertainment system. Standard features include:

  • 17-inch wheels
  • LED headlights
  • Keyless entry with push-button start
  • Simulated leather upholstery
  • Power-adjustable driver's seat
  • Heated front seats
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • 10.25-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Navigation system
  • Six-speaker audio system
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Rear seat reminder (alerts you to check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle)
  • Rear passenger safe-exit system (can prevent a rear passenger from opening a door into traffic approaching from behind)

Standard advanced driver aids include:

  • Blind-spot intervention (automatically steers the car back into its lane if you try to change lanes while a car is in the vehicle's blind spot)
  • Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking (warns you if a vehicle behind you is about to cross your path while you're in reverse and can brake for you if needed)
  • Lane keeping system (makes minor steering corrections to help keep the vehicle centered in its lane)
  • Forward collision mitigation (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios)
  • Lane departure mitigation (warns you of a lane departure when a turn signal isn't used and can automatically steer to maintain lane position)
  • Driver attention warning (issues an alert if sensors determine you are becoming fatigued)

EX
A panoramic sunroof and a rear-seat entertainment system are the only notable options for this trim. Beyond the features found in the S trim, the EX adds:

  • LED foglights
  • Black exterior trim
  • Panoramic sunroof (standard with AWD, optional with FWD)
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Hands-free liftgate with height adjustment
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Adaptive cruise control (adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the vehicle and the car in front)
  • Enhanced forward collision mitigation (better recognizes pedestrians and cyclists)
  • Highway Driving Assist (enhanced lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control functionality)

Which Sorento Hybrid trim does Edmunds recommend?

Most people will be perfectly happy with the features found in the loaded base S trim, but for just a little more, we recommend going for the top EX trim to get wireless smartphone charging and the remaining advanced driver aids: enhanced forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
