Liberty!?! DON'T BUY ONE

2006 Jeep Liberty Sport 4dr SUV 4WD (3.7L 6cyl 6M)

I bought my 2006 liberty sprt 4wd (3.7l 6 cyl manual) in 11/06 brand new. First visit to the shop was 01/09/07 for Windows/e-brake/pass air bag light. Since then (06/05/08) it has been to the dealership now 11 times- most of which--window problems, e- brake, etc. Also having trouble "weak clutch" or tranny. Dealer says. Only could duplicate one time, so "oh well". Never ever will I own another Jeep. Especially a liberty. And it is not comfortable. And no space up front at all. Glove box is so tiny, the owners manual and cool jacket it came with doesn't even fit! I'd look elsewhere. Chrysler has 31 TSBs out on 06 liberties. That should say something!

I miss my Jeep!

I LOVED this SUV - just totaled it and I'm not sure what to do next. I had no problems at all with my car. The mileage was annoying, but better than my big van. It was a comfortable and peppy ride, lots of fun to drive under any conditions. Spend the extra money for the leather seats. Buffetting noise was an issue, but often is a problem in SUV's. I had no mechanical issues at all - just changed the oil and that was about it. My ownership was brief - 2 years - but it was great. Oh - the airbag deployed with force - broke my wrist - but I had no other injuries.

I purchased the car new 4 years ago, there's less than 60k miles. I have replaced 4 window regulators and motors, and now 3 more broke. That's an average of 1 every 6 months. The electrical system constantly shorts out and of course nothing is under warranty. The dealership won't stand behind their product, nor will the manufacturer. I will never buy another vehicle made by this manufacturer!

Windows Problem

I've owned this Liberty less than 3 years. Since then 3 windows have stopped working: left rear window 2xs; left front window 1x. The left front is starting to go out again. When the vehicle was under warranty, Chrysler fixed the first 2 broken windows. I'm a high mileage driver: 25,000 miles/year. The vehicle is out of warranty DUE TO MILES and Chrysler will not cover fixing the third window. I would understand if the window had something to do with miles and it wore out. It's obviously a defective part & Chrysler won't stand behind their parts. Be prepared to pay appx. $450 to get the window fixed out of warranty. On a good note, the engine is great at 64,000 miles. No problems there.

Don't buy one!

I purchased my Liberty new and within the first year had to replace the back window motors twice. Now, since Chrysler seems to think customer service is not a priority, both back windows are held up by coat hangers. I like to take long trips and it is the most uncomfortable car. I am sad because I owned a Jeep Wrangler in '96 and loved it! I will NEVER purchase a Chrysler automobile EVER!
