Jeep Liberty with a nifty diesel

Special ordered this Jeep. I have been quite pleased with this car in spite of some quirkiness. Love the 2.8 L turbo diesel. It is a bit noisy but the torque is phenomenal. This little guy is no slouch on the road. Great fuel economy, 30 - 31 MPG (calculated) when kept under 65 MPH. Fairly good reliability. Torque converter is weak link in the drive train and I am on #3. Engine requires a bit more care than the gas version but it is an easy engine to maintain. Some aftermarket engine parts available (filters) but all else you have get at the dealer and they are not cheap. Adequate long distance road car but very good off road and in heavy snow.

I have had no problems with my '03 Liberty LTD. For the price it includes features I have never had in any other vehicle I've owned.

Jeep Liberty

I love my Liberty. It is great off roading in the mountains and it gobbles up the snow. The starting feature in 4WD Low without the clutch helps on the steep trails. It turns on a shorter base than my Nissan Spec V. I do get 20 MPG but on the interstate when going above 75 it is a little thirsty. Manual transmission is a little noisy. The brakes seem to be slow pulling down at high speeds.

Good Buy!

I bought this car for my wife, but was surprised that I, at 6'4", was so comfortable behind the wheel. Interior room and layout is deceptively large for a smaller vehicle. Ride quality and acceleration are also better than I expected. Overall, a well-built vehicle that will serve us well for years to come.

Not a car-like SUV

What a great Jeep vehicle. It's definitely not a boring car-like SUV that gets stuck in the middle of a mud pool. This thing will go anywhere. It's more like a Jeep, instead of a car. And that's why I bought it. If you would like a comfy SUV with smooth suspension and luxurious finish, this is not the car for you. This is a sturdy car, for people to go play off-road first, and bring the groceries back later.
