The Swiss Army Knife of SUV's

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)

I had a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 V6 for about 6 years and just purchased a slightly used 2022 Summit Reserve 4x4 V6. Unfortunately the prior owner passed away unexpectedly. I can't believe the diferences in the new generation in both inside as well as how it rides and drives. The new generation air suspension is so much better. It does not have that floaty/boat feeling to it like it used and is way more planted over bumps and in turns. No more rocking around with almost no head-sway. The semi-adaptive dampers definitely help which I think makes a big difference along with the newer longer wheelbase. Don't expect this to whip into corners and ride on rails as it still is a heavy and bigger SUV, but it handles it weight and size very well. I am riding on the 21" Summit wheels and it still rides smooth on road and off. I have a cabin about two hours away and that area is all gravel roads and rutted/pot holes/sand/mud in many spots. This thing blasts right through it. At first I wasn't sure on the exterior design as I was so used to the 2011 to 2022 WK version. That said I am sold on the new exterior and it a nice modern take on the prior without being drastically different. I was going to get an Overland and test drove one, but they are very hard to find with certain options like the all-around view camera, etc. and then you are priced right into the Summit price range. For me I wanted this GC loaded as I plan to keep for a longtime. I don't regret spending more to get the extra options. I will say I do think the price increase from the WK platform to the WL is a bit steep. This is why I looked for a slightly used one and saved about $8k off MSRP. The interior and options/tech are amazing in the Summit Reserve. I have the black interior with orange stiching and it looks spectacular. The massage seats come in handy on trips north to my cabin and so does the nightvision for all of the deer that run around that area. I am very impressed with overall look and layout of interior and the Reserve package puts leather everywhere in place of plastic. The Mcintosh sound sytem is very good and much better than most car systems. Stays crystal clear and zero distrotion the louder you turn it up while not causing fatigue to your ears. The UConnect is improved and such an easy and quick system to use and navigate around in. I tow and use bike racks, but my towing is limited to about 4000lbs give or take. I couldn't justify the hemi gas mileage and extra cost as I use mine for communting a lot as well and just me in the jeep. Yes the hemi is a little quicker and stronger, but the V6 is plenty adequate for most and I am avg. around 22mpg city and highway driving. I will also say the V6 is a lot more muted in this generation than last and it makes this Jeep very quiet. May have helped that they dropped the engine a lower in the generation vs other. Also lowered beltline so visibility is better too. I am 6'2" and find this Jeep so comfortable overall. I call it the Swiss Army knife as it truly satifies all my needs. I wanted a 5-seater SUV that has enough cargo room, gets decent gas mileage, is quiet and comfortable for four adults, has the luxury inside, drives smooth and rides nice on paved roads yet have off-road capability as we get quiet a bit of snow and I drive on some muddy rutted/gravel roads. A lot of little things too that this Grand Cherokee has like puddle lights, lights in all four outer door pockets, ambient lighting, heads up display, heated and cooled rear seats, memory passenger seat with massage, passenger screen. I could go on and on. Zero regrets and I am very happy with it. I would definately put a GC on the list to drive if you are looking for a decent size five seater suv. With so many models and options you have a wide spread depending on your budget. This is a huge leap ahead in ride quality and interior vs. prior. I do wish like others that they bring some more modern poweplants to the table. The 4xe is an option and my guess is the Turbo inline Hurricane V6 will eventually make it into the GC and the Hemi will be retired. On the flip side both current engines are tried and true along with the smooth shifting 8speed auto. No problems with mine as of date and I will give an update after more miles.

Never thought I’d be in a Jeep after my wonderful Explorer experience but it ticked all the right boxes. Was able to get our hands on the 5.7 V8 Hemi and it doesn’t mess around. The interior is mint and the infotainment is easy and very responsive. The McIntosh is incredible and did I mention heated/air cooled massage seats? This is what we were looking for without knowing it existed. Probably Jeep for life now.

This is my 4th Grand Cherokee, going all the way back to the beginning of the model in 1994. Have loved them all, but this 2022 Summit Reserve is a whole new world! There are not words for what an amazing vehicle this is! I'm a tech guy, and the technology in this is off the hook. V8 w / 8 speed is amazing, luxury is better than Mercedes and Audi by far, ride, handling is super good. Edmunds reviewer who said there was road noise must have had the windows down or something, because it is dead quiet! Most quiet car I've ever been in to my knowledge. Expensive? Um, yeah.. but can't take it with you. :-)

New Grand Cherokee is a snazzy pick

Picked up the new Grand Cherokee Overland and completely enjoy driving it. The technology on the vehicle is about as good as it comes and the layout is fairly intuitive. The vehicle rides well and is comfortable. The extras really make it a special vehicle. The road noise is a bit more than you’d want and look it was pricey, while I got what I paid for it does feel a bit much for a Jeep. Overall the vehicle strikes a handsome mark and it just feels like a true driving experience.

Well, have the 20 inch altitude and rides so rough and rattles on every expansion joint. Transmission is jerky once warm, lurching on downshifts from 2 to 1. Rough idle with A/C on. Tailgate rattles, passenger window rattles... Harsh impacts over small road imperfections. Looks cool, frame feels solid but door panels etc cheap. Close the door and have a listen. Pulls to right from day 1. Lots of issues but I know I have 343 miles on it so maybe that is why. Dealer did nothing with it to resolve issues, kept for 2 weeks. Service is so busy as chrysler products need more attention than newborn???

Misaligned doors and liftgate.doors panel noise and loose.A/C vent noise.center console noise. When you just start the vehicle, there is a rattling sound inside the trunk.Dealer says it's the the air suspension. But I'm pretty sure that's not air suspension.I've sent it to the dealer 5.6 times. They still can not fix everything. It might be a lemon. This car is just a [non-permissible content removed]!!

The 2022 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is my third Jeep. I also own a 2016 Wrangler Sahara JKU with a three inch lift and a 1972 CJ5 with the AMC V8, undergoing restoration. I traded in a worn out BMW for the Grand Cherokee and I am very impressed. The Trailhawk is almost as capable off road as my Wrangler and with the air suspension it can have as much ground clearance, or go a tad lower than my BMW did. I still only have less than 6000 miles, but I am planning a road trip.

2022 Jeep grand Cherokee Overland

This is my fourth Jeep GC. Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment, on the other hand I do like the platform. I’ve had: 1993, 2003, 2014 and now 2022. 2022 has some amazing features that I like, and some that seem pointless (passenger video screen in particular). The active driving assist is nice, though less advanced than I would like these days. I agree with the general assessment of the interior being upscale, but not presenting well on a day-to-day- the “piano black” interior finish looks nice in the showroom but shows every fingerprint. As to reliability, a couple of my previous GC died of transmission failure. This model offers a new one that I hope is better. It did however have several electronic issues at under 5k with sensors apparently, which rendered it almost undrivable. All systems alerted and it went into “limp mode”. This happened twice and required two trips to the dealer to resolve. Beyond that, no issues. The massaging and ventilated seats are money and I have no issues with the “confusing button layout” I’ve seen in other reviews.

Just bought my 4th Grand Cherokee, a 2022 Altitude. Totally love it! My husband is over 6 ft tall and has never liked my Jeeps in the past. He actually loves driving/riding in this one. It seems so much bigger. This redesign was a good one!

Owned a '22 GC Summit for 4 mos. I live in CO and like to be in the mountains, so I replaced the 20" rims w 18" and some Falken Wildpeak A/T tires. Now, I can go almost anywhere, and in luxury beyond what I had in my BMW 5-series. More power in the 3.6L than what I expected - beyond what I need. Averaging 19-20 mpg w mix of highway and city. (No reduction despite running on the Wildpeak A/Ts.) The seat massagers are awesome. The leather is Land Rover - level. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Been driving in a lot of snow, and it grips so well! Love it!

I have almost 10,000 miles and its been flawless . Love the ride the handling . great in the snow and heavy rain. One thing I don't like was the paddle switches on the steering wheel I think its unsafe if you don't know what they are for. Love the interior seating is perfect and comfortable. Heat and air system great. The engine is a little loud but a plenty of power. wish it had a CD player for my old music. So far its 5 star vehicle to me.

Having had (and traded-in) a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with same options, I had expected a similar (good) experience. The updated U-connect and Sirrius features were lacking, so this was a disappointment to me, other than that, the new 2022 Jeep GC, is a pleasure to drive.
