Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4X4 Diesel (ADV TECH)

This is an update to a couple of reviews I have made on this car. As much as it pains me to say, please avoid the 2014 JGC Diesel and probably Jeeps altogether. My car has currently around 9K miles and has been in the shop 5-6 times. The last few times have been related to the diesel engine (catalytic converter was changed, engine light turned on a few times, and now a pipe in the diesel engine cracked. This resulted in exhaust fumes going everywhere. It is a true shame as this has been a car I had been waiting to buy for years. Chrysler really needs to improve its build quality and reliability as well as provide options for folks with lemons. I guess I am going the lemon law route. AVOID IT

Nice looking and fun to drive, but spends most of its life at the dealer. Check engine light on for most of it's short life. Dealer cannot fix emissions problems and my Rejected inspection sticker is running out. Car will be illegal to drive shortly and have no fix. Unbelievable. Avoid this vehicle at all costs!!!

Sold my '14 Jeep GC today. First American car in 20 yrs. Biggest $50K mistake of my life. Replaced it with a Lexus NX that will give me no trouble. First 10 weeks of owning this Jeep - dashboard went black, service department AWFUL and have had it back in the shop every few months for other issues; including rear shock failure at 16K miles that caused daily creaking and clunking in the rear end. "The most awarded SUV" is a complete piece of junk. Old Jeep Service Dept. not meant for a luxury vehicle experience (looked like a Kmart) new Lexus Service Dept. treat me like royalty (beautiful place). I will NEVER buy American again. There is no reason they can't build good cars. Took a loss, but so glad to be rid of it. I felt sad b/c it looked good, just didn't run and ate gas like no other car I've owned. BEWARE.

My Last "premium" Jeep

Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel 2014: I'll start with Do Not Buy anything that costs 50k+ from Jeep. I don't think they know anything about supporting this level of cost of automobile. Their service is absolutely horrible. Not at the dealership lever but the corporation itself. I have had numerous problems with my DEF system since purchase. I am at 14900 miles now and still have issues. I have been to the shop 5 times now. It has all so far been related to the emissions system. ] When I call Chrysler I talk to some of the rudest people I know in customer service. They reflect the same level of satisfaction I have come to expect from my Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel 2014. As I type this I am waiting for parts to come in so I can take it in again. Just this morning I got a DEF message pop up. I called my case manager and could not get a hold of her. Every time I call the general team number it goes to voicemail. So I called Chrysler Corp and spoke to a rude person who said she cant help and would put me to my case manager. She did and I got voicemail. It's like they don't really care at all about their product or satisfaction of the customer. I am looking into a legal means to get my problem resolved. I hope there is a class action lawsuit against these guys to teach them better responsibility.

Negative consumer reviews here and elsewhere stopped me from looking at 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Six months later, I went to a Jeep dealer and checked out a 4wd GC Limited. Chrysler jacked up the prices by about $300 (probably to cover all the warranty expenses on the earlier production models), so I guessed they had fixed all of the problems. Bought one, and now have 1100+ miles on it & it runs fine. No transmission pbs., no touch screen/UConnect pbs. Quiet, comfortable, rides & handles well. Fit & finish is so good, you'd never think you were in a Chrysler product. We're a two car family, & this is our 1st vehicle since 1995 to actually achieve the EPA mpg numbers. 5/12/2016: Still very pleased with the Jeep Grqand Cherokee Limited. I have had only one problem with it which occurred in October 2015. The Climate Control system went totally haywire (HVAC and defrost front & rear). Dealer replaced center stack, but that didn't solve problem. Had to replace a controller module under the hood and that did the trick. Otherwise, trouble free, and a very enjoyable vehicle to own and drive. I do mostly city driving with occasional highway trip. Mostly get 17+ mpg, but on the highway I have gotten as high as 27 on long trips. I now have owned my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for just over four years, and it is still a pleasant ownership experience. No problems other than the one I described above, which was fixed and has nver again been an issue. In September, FCA did an over the wi-fi update of my U-Connect system, and I was concerned that there might be issues, since I was driving while the update was going on, and there were signal interruptions due to dead spots on the trip. No problem. The update worked fine. If FCA stopped raising the prices on Jeep Grand Cherokee models, I'd definitely get another one. Regarding that last statement--NOT ANYMORE!! I only have 63,500 miles on this vehicle, and while under warranty, I had to have the front transfer case replaced because it was leaking. About two or three weeks after the warranty on the replacement expired, it started leaking again, but the dealer was not authorized to do anything other than charge me full price for a replacement. Obviously, there is a serious leakage issue with the Jeep front transfer case ought to be addressed by the manufacturer. I contacted Stellantis and got stonewalled. I sent two letters of complaint, certified mail, return receipt requested. I got the return receipts, but never heard from Stellantis. They don't care. They won't even respond to a customer about a valid complaint. They never will get my business again. We have a sedan that actually is a year older and with about the same mileage as the Jeep, and it's from a foreign manufacturer (Kia) and it has been trouble free--not even the current Kia/Hyundai lock security issue. Both vehicles are 10 and 11 years old, so once prices settle down, we will be replacing them, and I assure you nothing from Stellantis (also a foreign company, actually) will be on our list!
