Used 1994 Isuzu Trooper SUV Consumer Reviews
I love this truck
I put 211000 miles on my Trooper and I still love it. I had to replace the transmission at 198K, and the starter and alternator made it to about 200K. It burns oil and the valves have ticked somewhat for about 100K miles but it is as dependable as they come; I also own a 99 Trooper that has been equally dependable. I got rear ended last week in the 94, they totaled it, and am looking to replace it with another 94 Trooper; that should say a lot.
Great Car
The Trooper has been a great car! The reliability is great and I have had no real problems with the car. With regular maintenance it runs like a dream. I wish all trucks were this reliable. It feels very solid, drives very smoothly and is very comfortable. I put on about 18,000 miles per year and have had no problems. I would definitely recommend this car.
If only the transmission were better
Acquired this car in 01. It already had one transmission re-build. Had to re-build it again in 2/03. They must've put the transmission in on a Friday afternoon. Other than that, I love this truck. The size, the build quality, the looks. I'll buy another one when this one dies.
Ole friend
So Obama is offering the cash for clunkers giveaway and it qualifies. We've owned this standard shift model for 15 years and 225000 miles, same strong engine, one replaced transmission and for the last 5 years an on road/off road car for a college student. Same son learned an important lesson, they go but don't stop in snow, but take an amazing licking so we put a front clip on it 7 years ago. Paint still shiny and consumes a bit of oil. Not sure he wants to give it up even for 4500 Obamabucks, not if they crush it he says, it deserves better. Honestly the clutch has been tedious but even the AC blows cold with no service on it ever. Can't say that about my Z71 pickup.
It's A Real Trooper!
All in all, this vehicle has been very good to me. I love the room for both passengers as well as equipment. Living in rural northern Michigan, the exceptionally high ground clearance helps when plowing through the snow. I've had to do mostly routine maintenance except for a new starter at 75000 miles. Now at 95000 and still going strong.
