Used 1997 Isuzu Rodeo Consumer Reviews
i hate this car
I have had this car for around 1 1/2 years and it just seems to get worse and worse. At just less than 97k miles, the fuel economy is terrible. No matter how easily you drive it, it gets an unacceptable 12-14 in town and 16-17 on the freeway. A tune up didnt help and no mechanic has any reason for it. The interior is falling apart. The cigarette lighter stopped working, a riser motor had to be replaced, the power locks are starting to go out, and one of the door handles just about falls out when you pull it to open. also, it has gone through two starters in about 25k miles, left me stranded at school and camping, and the oil has to changed every few hundred miles with no sign of a leak.
At least it is not a Ford
I bought this vehicle new. At the time gave great bang for the buck. It has been reliable and never left me out in the cold (unlike my Ford). I question the build quality. At 40k replaced the window cable system. At 46k the drives side went out. At 49k miles blew the head gasket (out of warranty). 66k the Air Flow sensor went. The rodeo rides bad on hwy, often come close to loosing conrol when in a turn and catch an inperfection in the road. No confidence in the rain but it does great in the snow as long as it is in 4x4. It needs more torque especially off road and significant inclines. Lots of road noise but not as bad as my Ford.

nothing but junk!
i have had my 96 rodeo for about 3 years now. so far, it is the noisiest motor i have ever heard. the whole body underneath is nothing but rust. had to buy a new part for the gas tank because it rusted and was leaking gas like a sieve. that was $400! it is falling apart! tried to find the part at a salvage yard, and guess what, all of the rodeo's in the salvage yard were rusted out in the same places! now, we can't figure out why i have no tail/dash lights. replaced the relay and multiple fuses. can't figure this one out. will never own one again!!
Much better then I expected
I purchased this truck on a whim and pretty much just said "lets see what happens". I am really happy that I did, I love this truck. The ride is very smooth after you replace the factory shocks, often passangers comment on how smooth the ride is. The only down falls have been standard wear and tear such as the cv boots. The cv boots are a huge project to replace and I would almost sugest saving up to have a pro do it. The rear passanger window has gone out because the plastic parts inside have broken to bits. Horn is way to quite. Stering is super tight and the car does an excelent job correcting after a trun.
nice drive but pain in my ***
I have had this car for almost 7 years and every year there is something new to fix. Within the first year the transmission, gas gage, and back door- lock needed to be replaced. I had the head gasket replaced a few years ago and now dashboard lights are going out all over the place. Just last week i had to replace part of the linkage of the wiper arm. I also have had the phantom oil leak. She burns up about a court of oil/1000 miles. Now the engine knocks due to damage from being low on oil.
