Previous G37 owner to now Q50

2019 INFINITI Q50 3.0t SPORT 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 7A)

Update 10/31/22- still loving my Q50! Having owned my 2013 G37 for close to 9 years, it was beginning to show its age. Still ran like brand new, but my white bumpers were peeling and becoming discolored. My Q50 drives and feels totally different than the G37. The Q50 is much quieter and refined. I do find that the Dunlop runflats give a rough ride when cold in the morning. Steering is very light; I can swing the wheel around with my pinky. I do miss the exhaust sound; this one seems a bit more tamed from what I’m used to. Infiniti always seems to lag behind the other car brands in the tech department; but hey coming from a 2013, I have so many more options in my car now. No ventilated seats, just heated is offered. Auto remote start is standard; don’t have to pay for aftermarket. You really get the best bang for your buck with the Q50. I encourage everyone to test drive one and add it to your short list. It’s a winner in my book!

Why so loud ?

2023 INFINITI Q50 SENSORY 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 7A)

Our first experience with Infinity was a 1997 Q-45. It was the best car we ever owned. Super comfortable, plenty of power, logical controls, but above all, incredibly quiet inside. Over the years we have had 4 others and things have gone steadily downhill. The last one left us when it began making a constant clicking noise in the AC system. Repair would be $4,000 on a car worth about twice that. Soooo, we arrive at the 2023. First, the damn road noise. Why they cannot build a quiet car is beyond me; they know how as they did it before. Then I learned that there is no spare tire ! "run flat" tires. Yeah, for how long? We're 80 years old and do not like uncertainty, such as not being able to change a flat tire, but must wonder what to do if a tire goes flat at night or on a weekend. This is just plain stupid. Then the climate controls. First, much too complicated. Heated seats, but not cooled - they did that years ago, why stop? In the dual mode, the temp goes up and down and my wife is constantly freezing or sweating. Can't have heat from floor on her side and cool air from dash on my side. Constant argument. What the manufacturers cannot understand is that very few people ever use most of these "features." Most, like us, will never use them. They add these for marketing purposes, so they can say that "we" have more XYZ that the other guy.

I love this car despite Edmund lackluster review

2022 INFINITI Q50 LUXE 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 7A)

After reading the Edmund lackluster review I bought this car. I love the interior colors, design, padded esthetics of the door panels, and comfortable leather seats. The two screen layout works for me because I can have my CarPlay map (nav) on the upper screen and my audio or menus on the bottom screen. The Bose audio is great. The included technology in the Luxe is near complete with safety, parking and cameras. I also love the exterior styling and upgrade colors. The engine is the same as the 400 hp version less some cooling and turbo speed monitoring and twin turbocharging allowing for safe power tuning in the future. The ride is a little stiff and choppy but I attribute that to the run flats. The steering is more comfortable with the “trace” nannies turned off. The engine space is crowded with hoses, pipes, computers, flux capacitors, etc. Hardly room for a catch can but there a spot for one. I love this car.

2020 INFINITI Q50 3.0t SPORT 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 7A)

This car is often criticized for being outdated, for lacking tech, for performance. I have now owned this car for over half a year, and I noticed that as you drive this car more and more, you get more accustomed to it. Now being completely honest, their is a lot of reason why you might not like this car and there is no denying that. The steering is certainly not the most performancy but for most drivers, this will be a daily driver and it does fine. Even for more enthusiastic drives, this car still does well. Tech can certainly be overwhelming at first but in 2020 with the addition of wireless apple carplay, this makes the vehicle a lot better. Android auto is still wired at this point in time. Infiniti did a redesign in 2018 for the taillights and for the front bumper some time ago so I think it looks really nice. Another thing this car does really well is the ability to be a smooth drive. A lot of people complain that this car is numb. Again, you get used to it and see it is more relaxing than anything. It is a 7 Spd Auto trans which somehow shifts nicely. This car gives you features here and there that are simple but useful. In other words, you are not going to be getting over the top features like auto park or some fancy gizmo crap other manufacturers throw. However, if you are willing to look past that, this offers good tech that you can use or not use, simple mechanics for things. Maintenance wise, so long as you stick to the script, this vehicle will not give you any issue. The acceleration is amazing. Again, no car is perfect. This car, I will say the steering is the biggest flaw, next is the exhaust but that is a personal opinion. To me, a stock note on this car sounds like a vacuum. Nothing really exciting there. But even so from time to time this car sounds very sexy. The biggest thing I would say to get for this car is to upgrade your Heat Exchanger. Whether you plan to mod it (as this car is very mod friendly) or keep it as is, it will help prolong the life of the turbos if you upgrade the heat exchanger as this will help cooling the engine and turbos. One criticism that I can NOT forgive Infiniti for in 2020 is that their base model does not come with a great sound system. In fact. The base Luxe edition comes with a generic 6 speaker system. If you upgrade you will get a 16 Speaker Bose system. I think it is an unfair difference as the 6 speaker is very much undesirable. Having a Silver Sport Trim, you get Akebonos and the 16 Speaker standard. Excellent choice to consider. The last issue is that this car is NOT a car that you should buy if you plan to sell it fast. Infiniti is known to have very low resale values. Mine dropped about 7k just for driving it from when I got it. (It may also be the market). For future buyers, my recommendation is to look for a 2020+ model as you get Apple Carplay and Android auto. (If you do not care for that then the 2019 - will offer great prices for the car) If you prefer more sound OPT FOR THE PURE, SENSORY, OR SPORT. Sport is the best as you also get Akebono Brake Calipers! 2021 + comes standard with bose speakers so if you go up you will be fine. All in all it is not a perfect car by any means. But it is a great car and I think more often than not critics will over look it. You will not regret getting this car!

Now that the warm weather has finally arrived and Covid 19 seems to be more under control I have been venturing out more than when I purchased my Infiniti in mid November. It has the luxury that I love with the power that I love too. Both myself and my spouse love driving this car. I owned luxury cars in the past but none were as much fun to drive as the Infiniti Q50. I have no regrets for the purchase I made.
