Good Buy
The only problems I experienced with the car were caused by dealer service. Other than that, it's been one of the best cars I've owned - and my first "luxury" car. I've since also added a Santa Fe to my "fleet". The XG300 is comfortable to ride in and to drive. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants luxury without the price of a Lexus or problems of a Cadillac.
Expensive to Maintain
I bought this car new in 2001 and I called it a "Poor Mans Lexus." The initial quality was rock solid but I had to replace the transmission at 90k and Hyundai pcked up the cost. I had the shuddering thing happening that someone mentioned in an earlier posting. Everything else (alternater, brakes, water pump, etc...) was very expensive to fix becuase you can only get genuine Hyundai parts. The check engine light comes on quite a bit and it is always something with this car. It seems to be very sensitive and the oil and oxygen sensors are always turning that damn light back on! Now I was told that it needs to have the catalitic converters ($3,000)replaced so it is time for me to get rid of it.
A comfortable lemon.
I like driving the car. Its comfortable, big, once I put some firmer shocks on, it handles respectably. It fits my family and the interior quality seems nice. Other than that, I have nothing good to say about this car. In the 8 months I have owned it I have replaced an alternator, all four shocks, a master airflow sensor. For a car that has 70k miles, this thing is falling apart. I would just consider this a fluke but other owners are reporting the same problems. The shudder going in and out of 4th gear (when gradually accelerating), the alternator, check engine lights. Every replacement part on this car is extremely expensive.
Dependable Car
Bought this car new in 01. 6 years later and it still is great. No problems or issues, just change the oil and go. Currently have 70,000 miles on it. Jsut replaced the brakes and timing belt. Changed the tires once. That's it. Very dependable car and love the way it drives. The car is filled with luxury features and I am still loving it after 5 years.
Great Car
Everyone who sees this car loves it. I've had it for almost 6 years and I love it as much now as I did then. Still fun to drive. No major problems to report.
edmunds reviews have head up something
17000 miles and we LOVE our XG300 The power is fine, it's EXTREMELY quiet, very easy to maintain, and drives smooth. Comfort is excellent, heating and cooling are fast, tires squeal before they lose grip, traction control and ABS are solid working. Auto heating cooling is excellent, though requires a quick read of the book. The shifttronic is very cool, with built in overrev protection.
It's great car and value!!!
I purchased this car in 2001 as brand new. It rides very nice and I love all the features came with the car... which you find those features as options on other cars... such as automatic climate control, leather seats, wood trims, abs, traction control and etc.... I love this car very much and I always hear too nice things about my car from other people who saw and ride in it..
maroon XG300
lots of car 4 the money try one& see.
Best car value I have ever Had
What brought me to this car at first was the warrenty. But all the features that came standard with this car compared to others I was Thinking of buying won me over . I have over 45000 miles With the only repair was the rubber gasket around the sunroof. Fun to drive .
worth the money
Ive had this car for over a year and have found nothing wrong with it, never broke down and drive very smooth, I would recommend it to anyone that wants a nice car without breaking the bank
Love my XG
I had never even seen one of these until I saw the ad for mine online. My car had broken and instead of repairing it, I purchased this one at $5,800 which given the condition of the vehicle I thought was more than fair. I love the way it looks on the outside. The front grill looks like it was designed by Lincoln, and the rear reminds me a little of the acura 2.1 CL or even a jag! The interior makes you feel like youre riding in luxury as well. I had the same problem with the trans. sensor but was a quick fix. Other than that I am satisfyed with the XG. For my money it doesnt get much better. Now that I have it I find myslef noticing how great other hyundais are! Those guys make nice cars!
very impressed
I have owned my XG300 for about 7 months now and I enjoy driving it as much now as I did the first day I bought it. I must say that I have yet to find a sedan in the same price range as the XG300 that can compete with the handling and performance that I experience with the XG300, not to mention the value factor. I would definitely consider purchasing another XG.
XG 300L: Driving in Style at a Value
This car is so nice and elegant. It has a lot of features, some even the $30K plus cars dont have. Hyundai offers a great warranty. It's amazing how Hyundai can pack so many features and so much quality into a vehicle that is 25% or more inexpensive then anything comparable to it. 2001 Hyundai XG300
A lot of car for the money
XG300L...Jury's still out by Kiki
Have had to return the Dealer numerous times. Not sure how much of the problem is Charlie Thomas or Hyundai. Took a year to get part of the exterior trim replaced. Still can't get them to fix my outside mirrors. The option to have them lower while in reverse does not always work. Sometimes they do not return to the programed position.
So far so good...
We looked at and drove many other similar cars: taurus, camry, etc... but broke down and looked at the Hyundai because of its looks, pricing, warranty, and 0 percent interest rate at the time. We were most impressed with all aspects of the car. We were the unhappy owners of a new 98' Malibu: in the shop 20 times in 3 years. We have not had no trouble with the XG in 7000 miles. We want a car that we can drive the wheels off of, and so far this car is promising.
xg300
I bought this vehicle new and have over 51,000 miles. I have used the vehicle extensively in both city and highway driving. The only things I have had to do are replace the tires and battery. The vehicle runs great and is fun to drive. My wife drives an Expedition but I would rather drive my XG anytime.
Watch out Toyota
Good solid ride,no wind noise,no rattles only needed to go back to dealer for new floor mat clips.I will keep this car for at least 10 years, and hopefully still love it,as much as now.
