After 3 weeks and a lot of driving, I am really impressed with this car. It has great getup and go off the start (actually works better if you don't floor it), more than enough juice to pass on highway speeds. I'm not sure the milage reads right, but I am getting 750km in town on hi-way. The ride is quiet (even road noise is very low), the steering is responsive, and the suspension rise smooth, even on dirt roads, without being to soft. Features like lane assist, adaptive cruise control, collision alerts, and parking assist all work great. Only two downers: 1) Because of the built in GPS with the 10.25" infotainment, wireless android autos won't work (tho you can buy a wireless donagle for that), and 2) the Bose system sounds pretty good in the front seats but the back speakers are vastly underpowered, and the system would have had better sound it had a small sub to handle some of the low range and keep it more out of the mids. Oh but the cooling feature onto he seats is awesome and the car is very comfortably. Still get a happy smile when I get in to drive it.

Excellent Vehicle, Bad Estimated Mileage

Mark W, 01/03/2024

Love the vehicle for its comforts and safety features. It is more quiet than Rav4, Honda CRV and slightly better Kia Sportage IMO. I test drove all of these. The seats are very comfortable and the drivers seat also automatically moves back when in park and the engine shuts off. This allows someone with accessability issues to get in and out easier IMO. The dash is seamless compared to other SUV's where they put some kind of ipad sticking up in the center of the dash for the display. This looks bad to me and is not to eye appealing. The safety features are very good. It has good blind spot detection and the dash will show the blind spot when you turn on the turn signal. This is good and reinforces better driving habits. I like that the dash also changes colors and info when you change the driving modes as it gives you an instant indication of what mode you are in when you get to know these modes. It also has lane assist and adaptive cruise control which I like and have never had before. The car also has remote control from your phone which is very nice and hyundai doesn't charge for this every year like some other manufacturers. The only disappointment I have with it is the stated fuel mileage and available car colors for the limited. What I am getting doesn't come close to the stated mileage for the hybrid. I am getting about 28.5 to 29 for around town. I live where there are small hills and level roads so it is a mixture. On the freeway I am getting about 30.5 driving at 70 to 75. I have noticed that for in town driving the EV mode(battery mode) doesn't kick in till you are up to speed and the rpms go down. IMO it would be better to have this kick in when you start from a stop light or stop sign as that is when you use the most fuel and then recharge when you are at speed. I have been driving for about 5 weeks and 1000 miles. Mostly around town. Overall I would buy again because of the comfort and quietness and safety features. It also has a pleasant backup alarm as it is so quiet when backing up.

N-Line Winner!

After owning a KIA Sorento for 5 years of amazing reliability and service, I was convinced that the Korean manufacturer had a top notch product line. But, I was interested in a little smaller hybrid. The KIA Sportage and Hyundai Tucson were top candidates, after dismissing Japanese and German counterparts for several reasons. The Sportage was my first choice since it was a KIA and had great looks and technology. Unfortunately, the availability of one with a sunroof was zero. So, I looked at the Tucson at a nearby dealer. They had 2 available. After working with an excellent "counselor salesman" over a two week period, I decided on the N-Line model. It had a sharp exterior, a "luxury design" interior with no "laptop on the dash" look. It has design touches found in a Bentley! I also liked the "no-knob" touch screen technology that I understand some don't like. Lastly, I was able to negotiate a fair mid-$30's price with my 2018 Sorento as a trade-in. I've driven it 2500 miles since I bought it 3 months ago, including a trip to Florida without any issues. With Adaptive Cruise, plus the Lane Keep technology, and a super quiet/comfortable cabin, it has exceeded all my expectations. It's now 2/15/25 and 15 months since purchasing it. I'm still super happy with it after 13, 600 miles. My Hyundai dealer has done 2 scheduled inspections with oil changes. Thankfully, everything works well. It has several driving modes: Eco, Sport, Smart and Snow. All work as advertised. Typically, I drive in the $mart mode. It's a little sporty and a little eco-friendly. A fill up in this hybrid, around 12 gallons, cost $25-30 generally. I bought some red rocker trim that adds a little bling and differentiates it from all the gray SUVs out there. I bought it for its size, handling, fuel economy, sportiness and quiet comfort. I'd buy again!

Great car. Hyundai Tuscon Blue hybrid. It’s not the color of the vehicle, it’s the name of the base hybrid model. The Edmunds reviews were spot on. I drove the Kia as well. The Hyundai just seemed to be smoother to me so I went for it. Great features in this car. I’m not worried about going 0-60 in x.y seconds, so it’s all good. Big cargo space, large front and back room cab space, large touch LCD screen. You will love this car. Go test drive it. For context, I had a 2022 version of this same vehicle. It was totaled when I hit a deer. The Bluestar system saved me because I was in an area with no cell service.

I brought the 2024 hybrid for fuel mileage and the window sticker state 37 mpg in city and 36 highway and I only been able to get 25 mpg to 27 I’ve taken it back to the dealership several times and have been told that I need to put 3 to 4 thousand miles on it and the fuel mileage will get better not sure if anyone else has had this issue but I’m very disappointed I only purchased the car for fuel economy that I’m not getting

I’m a big fan of Hyundai. Have had two previous and a Genesis. Now have an ionic 5 as well as the Tucson. Love the car but I can only squeeze out 30 mpg after some 2500 miles. Took it back to dealer but was told that’s not unusual in their experience. Seems like false advertising if that’s true. I always drive in Eco mode.

Best suv I've ever driven and owned

I haven't found any flaws in my vehicle. Many have complained of the interior controls being hard to manage because it's all touch screen, more specifically with the volume which is easily managed with the control on the steering wheel. Personally, I'm not a fan on the updated interior of the 2025 model but I guessed it was changed due to too many people wanting physical buttons and controls rather than a touch screen. I think it pulls away from the luxury feel.

Cautious but warming...1st-time owner after Toyota

M.S., 12/02/2024
2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid 4dr SUV AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo gas/electric hybrid 6A)

After combined total of two Toyota's in 26 years, my wife deserved a new vehicle. Test-driving Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, and Subaru in 2022, during Covid, when no dealership could get enough inventory and when negotiation of a reasonable price was extinct, I chose to wait out the sales pitch, "Nobody's going to sell at a cheaper price." Time was on my side... and they were wrong. During the next two years, my wife's whetted appetite brought us back to purchase her blue 2024 Tucson Limited Hybrid, much to my disappointed Toyota-quality, gripping peace of mind. We're into ownership for six months now and, half-grudgingly, i have to cringingly admit that her choice MIGHT be right. Body-styling appeals to her "Trekkie", science fiction enterprising desires, while the abundant technology is worthy of any Federation and/or Klingon starship. She loves the aesthetics of the dash layout to the 360 degree/overhead camera coverage and heated steering wheel to the TouchPad control consoles and memory seating as she controls everything from her air conditioned/ heated captain's chair. Hyundai's engineering team have effectively helped my wife find up to 42 mpg on the highway at regulation speeds and 37 in town...consistently. Best i can muster is 35 around town, but I am far less considerate of speed signs while pushing the envelope with jack rabbit starts. My wife seems quickly to have mastered the different drive modes which, counterintuitively have allowed her more mileage on highways than in city streets...but she drives deliberately to attain this discrepancy. Me? GET IN THE CAR AND JUST DRIVE IT LIKE IT'S THE TRANSPORTATION IT'S MEANT TO BE! (You'll certainly understand why I don't get to drive her car very often...) I'm used to driving 6-cylinders and V8's and wasn't thrilled to be back in a 4-banger wheezing to start from a stop-lighted intersection or ramp-accessing an interstate highway, but when I see the wolf pack still pulling away from the last light as I'm cruising through the next light or quickly closing the gap to prevent an interloper from stitching his way through an 8-foot gap between me and the vehicle ahead and in the next lane over...I have a real appreciation for how this car is capable of performing when I need it to. Not quite as good as a spirited 6- cylinder, 269 hp RAV-4, but it still gets and deserves respect. As far as interior space...plenty for my 5'3" wife, but at 6'2" I'm afraid a little cramped for shoulder space and occasionally get head-bumped against the side, rear pillar while sitting in the back seat. Plenty of overhead gap, though so I can't complain too much. My wife is about bells and whistles... I'm about practically. For my wife, the numerous safety features are..."nice". For safety, practicality, and value...well, the value for the money is nice when considering how much more these options cost on other makes and models, but for my need to keep my wife safe from drivers who have no vested interest in keeping her alive, let alone caring about their own health and welfare...these features are non-negotiables. Hyundai can't have done better to keep occupants safe, even down to the quality headlights that make driving my truck seem a blinding experience compared to the outstanding nighttime road illumination with the Tucson. If this Hyundai product performs as well as my Toyota's over the next three-year assessment period, I look forward to my next Hyundai purchase, especially if Toyota can't start competing for dollar value that Hyundai is presently offering. Going where I have never gone before... ENGAGE!

I don’t think a perfect car exists and certainly the Tucson isn’t one of them at least not for me. This is a very nice suv. It’s more of a “big crossover or “small suv” anyway it’s aesthetically pleasing to the eyes especially in the N-Line trim which is the one I have I do have some major gripes and let’s dive right into it 1) the mpg is far lower than what hyundai projects. At best on the hwy I’m getting 28.5 mpg and city about 34mpg. I guess that’s okay for a car that weighs nearly 4k but don’t expect the 37/36 at all 2) I HATE how loud the backup/reverse chime is! Jeeze, there needs to be a setting or update to lower than thang 3) No wireless apple car play android auto. I bought an aftermarket carplay dongle which seems tonwork 4) the e brake takes so long to engage sometimes! There at least with my vehicle a 3 second delay. So if you left off tue break the car rolls forward a bit The good Driving and handling are incredible and really engaging! So much tech! Love the autonomous steering and adaptive cruise control. The headlights project really far! It is quick and angile around windy roads

Some reviews cite a variety of quirks, electric mishaps and poor mileage. I've experienced none of that. Our N-line hybrid gets 35 to 40 mpg in suburban driving, 33 to 35 mpg hiway unless driving 80. Very quiet . Very comfortable. Classy interior but I'd prefer physical buttons which are coming back in 2025. Accelerated is very good. Space is very good. Safety features are excellent and work well. I miss some convenience items that the Limited offers which are missing in the N-Line. Piano black? People complain but I keep a microfiber cloth in the door and wipe. No big deal. The only negative I would mention is the rear and side visibility, could be better. The Limited has more cameras to help with that. I did purchase a mounted spare tire for $350 which fits under the storage floor if you remove the Styrofoam piece. For $40K this is a bargain.

First hybrid ownership experience. Fun to drive, although not what I expected in terms of how often I am NOT able to drive in EV. Hwy milage (95%gas engine) equiv to my 2013 gas Honda CRV. Interior styling is awful. All front seat storage awkwardly sized and placed. Cup holder size circa 1970. No dedicated sunglass storage. No lock on glove box. Infotainment system controlled by gremlins. It flips to other screens on its own. I can no longer find the screen that should be projecting bluetooth connected mapping program. Cannot cancel its ever failing attempts to download my contacts which I never wanted. Agressive exterior side panel styling means my car doesn’t get clean in a car wash unless the brushes are physically removing the dirt. I could go on…..Glad I can feel free to move on to something better when my lease is up!!

I have about 3000 miles on my 2024 Hybrid set convenience. So far has been flawless. The 1.6 Turbo has plenty of power for a large suv. The interior quality is superb. I do wish the steering wheel was heated and the Car Play was wireless but over all for the money this car beats the competition hands down

Bought the 2024 hybrid tucson with sel convenience package in Amazon grey with grey interior (looks more like beige). First,I checked out the plug-in but I didn't want the hassle of finding a charging station when traveling anywhere. So I then checked out the regenerative hybrid (gas/electric) and it hit all the marks for me! It's super on mpg and the ride is super smooth...pick-up is amazing! Interior is really classy looking..I love the smooth dash. I know alot of people like the physical knobs but I think the push buttons and touch screen just lends toward the classy expensive look! Bought it in February 2024 and I will have this for MANY years! My second tucson so I knew going in all the good points to this car...does not disappoint!!

I have had the car now for seven months and love the car. It drives so very smoothly, yet steering is tight and ride is comfortable. I love the styling of the exterior and the interior looks more expensive than it actually was. The car came with many great features that other vehicles charged so much extra for. (I do miss the garage door opener in the vehicle, that Hyundai neglected to add, as well as automatic wipers) All said, I would give this car five stars but took away one because I think the gas mileage was way overstated on this vehicle. I struggle sometimes to get 30mpg, let alone 35. Hyundai should revise its numbers!

I really love this SUV. It's very smooth and comfortable to drive. I don't think it gets enough credit for how quiet it is. The sound system is really good for the base model too. My only complaint is that I wish it was a bit more efficient for a hybrid. I'm getting an average of 35 mpg for mixed driving. It's good but could be better. I've had this SUV for 1.5 years and I'm always reminded how much I like driving it when I drive anything else.

Drives brilliantly - plenty of power for highway passing and pulling out from a stop. Amazing hybrid system is ultra-smooth, efficient and effective with such smart shifting that paddle shifters are superfluous. Drive modes are great - Eco for normal use or Smart, which is brilliant, for a little faster response; Sport is a little edgy with quick throttle and shift responses and a little heavier steering effort. Sophisticated computer-aided handling is remarkable, like "riding on rails" with minimal body roll for an SUV. Braking is pretty good, although not perfectly smooth in combining mechanical brakes with regenerative braking. Efficiency is outstanding at 40 MPH and below, where it's pretty easy to get 40MPG+ in the city or country or suburbs. At 65 MPH, you won't do much better than 30 MPG, as air resistance for the big body becomes an issue and higher speeds will hurt MPG. You can expect about 35 or 36 MPG in very mixed driving overall. Sport mode seems to cost several MPG without aggressive driving, but Smart mode should be fine for milage. Premium gas isn't required and doesn't seem to help milage, so regular gas helps keep costs down. Tech driving aids are excellent and can help reduce fatigue but need some study of user manual if you're coming from an older generation of cars, and you have to be aware that they may or may not work, depending on changing circumstances (e.g. lane-keeping can switch on and off as road lines and conditions change). Adaptive cruise control is outstanding. There's an oddity if you leave the car unused for too long where a battery discharges and you have to manually open the door with a key (which is a trick in itself) and push a battery reset button to get the car to work. I haven't managed to get the seating position completely comfortable, although the seats are good with 6-way power adjustment, which is a big help - but the steering wheel doesn't telescope back as far as I'd like, and the seat back has more shoulder bolster shove than I'd like. I wish I'd tried out the N Line, which has different seats with more side bolster. All in all, though, this is an absolutely brilliant vehicle with remarkable, effective engineering in a very attractive package designed to do everything well. If you want more efficiency/MPG, it will come at the cost of space, ground clearance, or responsiveness.

No Spare Tire

I recently purchased the Tucson hybrid, a great vehicle with one glaring problem. There is no spare tire, not even a "doughnut." I only found out by looking for it. This is unacceptable, especially in a rural area like New Mexico. The dealer did not have an optional tire. I bought a full-size tire and rim. It drives well, has good gas mileage, and has comfortable seating. The Edmunds review was spot on.

On the drivers side with dim on there is a dark shadow on the road in front of the vehicle that impedes visibility a lot. It is even worse when turning or driving on a hill. It does not stay still and moves on the road and is very dangerous!

I traded in a 2022 BMW 5 series on the 2024 Hyundai primarily because of difficulty getting into and out of the BMW, and I didn’t want to spend much. Turns out that I made a couple of grand. However, I also love the Tucson. It beats the BMW by having tighter steering, a better ride, better visibility, and some features that make it easy to park. The interior isn’t as luxurious, but that’s about the only disadvantage.

Really liked this car, but the headroom is insufficient (with a sunroof) for my spouse, who because of a bad back, needs to sit on a cushion with the seat in its highest position. Why not get a trim w/o sunroof? She needs to be able to raise the passenger seat when I’m driving, and only the top trims w/ sunroof have a power passenger seat with height adjustment. So we will have to look elsewhere, which is too bad. By the way, we both liked the driving characteristics of the regular hybrid over the PHEV, which is heavier and less nimble.

I like so many things about my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited. My favorite feature is the backup camera which shows an overhead view of the area and is quite amazing. However, the down side is the mileage. The sticker says 37 mpg and is one of the reasons I decided on this vehicle. In the 7 months I've owned it I'm averaging 28-29 mpg. I've had it checked out and nothing is wrong. Neither the dealer nor Hyundai customer service can/will do anything about it as their diagnostics say nothing is wrong. Don't bother to pay the extra for a hybrid when the mileage is no better than a non-hybrid.

Disappointing - Mediocre

Not a satisfied owner. It is only an average ride - and not overly fun to drive like past vehicles I have owned. Plain and simple - it's a practical car. That's it. No excitement. Great for grandmas to drive to the store in the winter, beyond that very mediocre. Driving: It feels like I am driving a tall closet on a golf cart chassis. It does not ride smooth either - can feel every bump. I anticipated more power from a hybrid, but it is just not there with the Tucson. Pickup is ok, but it doesn't have the oomph like other hybrids I have driven (thank you Toyota). The power for the hybrid is not there. While the car runs fairly quiet, the outside noise while driving is louder than what I would like. The 38 MPG claim is bogus. I am not clearing 30 MPG even on freeway. I did a 300 mile all freeway drive and only got 26 MPG. Safety features are ok. The lane assist works well. Warnings for lane change and back up, etc. are all on par and meet expectations. Interior is .... eh. The front seat is tight. Options for interior on the Blue are disappointing. Exterior is nice - like the color selections. I went with a Deep Sea Blue and it sizzles. Alloy wheels are nice. The exterior is the only redeeming quality for me. Again, it's a great car for grandmothers! I have several annoyances with the vehicle. #1 - the fake "hovering" sound when in full electric mode is too loud and annoying. And the back up beeps are worse. Both sounds are so loud. I don't need the entire street alerted every time I back out of my driveway. There is no way to deactivate those in the system, and the only way I've read to disable is to disconnect the wire to the soundbox inside the grill. #2 - to use AppleCar Play, you need to be tethered. Yes, no wireless. You need to use a cord. Hey Hyundai, get with it - it's 2024! #3 - chlostrophobic. The front row feels way too tight. Very narrow and with the short hood, feels like you are about to tip the car over front ways. With only owning this such a short time, I am already figuring out how to dump this car and get a different one. Disappointing. Very disappointing. Steer clear and look at other SUVs.

It's flashy exterior and hyped gas mileage hype gives way to a clunky driving and user experience. The MPG on the hybrid is horrendous, on road trips i'm averaging 25mpg. I get around 29 around town but anytime you go over 55 mph it averages roughly 24-25 cruising with 30 second spurts of electric aid. The interior looks nice but the infotainment and push buttons are poorly thought out, the push shifter is also a major safety hazard. I see where they were going but all areas except its looks are poorly executed.

I will not buy another one. The fuel economy of this Tucson Hybrid is dismal. Some non-hybrids of the same size match it. Very disappointed. The wipers do not always work as it begins to rain. Signals occasionally do their own thing, blinking out of control. The doors do not unlock when you get near the car. I cannot wait to sell this and go back to what I used to drive a RAV4 Hybrid, the best by a long shot.

I have had this for two weeks and really like it. The hybrid engine is quick and responsive. I like the bigger infotainment screen and the panoramic sunroof. I don't find the built-in navigation system useful, I will always use Google Maps or Waze through Carplay. One feature I was surprised it did not have is the Homelink system for opening garage doors. That is really useful and I'll miss it here. I also miss the walk away door lock like I have on my 2017 Honda CRV.

Overall, the 2024 Tucson Hybrid Limited is as refined as a car costing $15K more. Quiet, comfortable and good handling. Loaded with current tech including self driving (intelligent cruse and lane keeping assist). Premium materials including full leather, heated and cooled front seats w/ heated rear. Lots of room for rear passengers who can adjust their seat back tilt. Not a fan of the Bose Premium sound system, although it's not terrible. MPG can be 37 mpg, but not at 75 mph on the highway. Gotta love the warranty!

I’m not sure of the driving habits of other owners of the Tucson Hybrid but something is way off-kilter. We are averaging 39 to 40 mpg in town, we seldom hit the freeway so I can’t comment as to that. There are some things I’m not really happy with, the passenger seat does not have electric controls and the seating is not very comfortable on a long day in the car but I can live with that. The backup horn is annoying as hell but you cannot remove it because it will kill the warranty. All in all, we’re happy with the car but I wish the Lincolns were not so expensive, I traded my MKC for the Tucson and I’m having some buyer's remorse. One-year report. Having hit 7k the original post still stands, and the backup horn still is annoying as hell. I believe the neighbors are about ready to start throwing rocks at me when I'm backing out of the garage at five am.

Car handled nice and has good acceleration. Should have heated steering wheel at this price point. Worse, you cannot have any added extras removed so that you are stuck with that added pricing. I don't want a tow bar, mats, pinstripes, etc. If Hyundai needs to do this to make money, there's a problem. And I won't buy their cars.

MY NEW CAR ALMOST KILLED ME

JUAN SANCHEZ, 11/26/2024
2024 Hyundai Tucson N Line Hybrid 4dr SUV AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo gas/electric hybrid 6A)
4 of 12 people found this review helpful

I have to share my story because we trust the fake ratings for vehicles. On July 11, 2024, I was driving a brand new 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid I had leased a month before. I was driving on a 4-lane road in South Florida, going at the speed limit (45 mph), when an irresponsible 25-year-old came out of the parking lot of a shopping center and hit me on the right side of my car. I never saw him. I found out all of this from the accident report. I knew I was involved in an accident because my car blew up inside, it went across all the lanes and ended up against a fence with trees and a private community sign on the other side from where I was hit. Once the car stopped, I got out because I was choking with all the smoke inside. One thing I noticed was something coming out of my mouth but didn’t know what it was. Later I found out they were my teeth. When I finally got out, there was a woman outside asking me how I was. It happened to be a police officer that has witnessed the whole accident. I was pouring blood out of my mouth and my chest hurt. She helped me and I was taken to a Trauma Center on an ambulance. At the ER I was told I had sustained a fracture to my maxillary bone with loss of several teeth as well as fractured ribs. I asked how that could happened if the accident didn’t happen at a high speed and I had my seat belt on, and the ER doctor told me that my injuries were caused by the airbags in my car. The airbags in my brand-new Hyundai Tucson Hybrid N Series, a 38K+ dollars car, that has the highest ratings, destroyed my face and broke my ribs. Oh yes, they are wonderful until you get involved in an accident. By the way, my car was completely destroyed, and the insurance paid as a total loss and I never recovered the down payment I gave Hyundai for that car. I imagine I would be dead if it happened on a highway at a higher speed. I contacted a couple of law offices specialized in defective airbags and they told me I had no case. I would have to be half dead or dead for them to take my case. It was my second Hyundai but there will be no more HYUNDAIs for me ever. *** DO NOT TRUST FAKE REVIEWS.*** Look instead at the mortality rates published for every car. My next car will be a BMW X3 which has never had a death in an accident.
