Impressive Vehicle!

I was looking to replace my faithful but aging Camry and test drove all of the 'usual suspects'. This car in its base trim has everything I needed, but with the Popular Package it made it even more of a honey! The closest competitor was the Accord EX but the Sonata GLS has it beat hands down on styling, price, features, engine and fun. The fit and finish both inside and out is impressive. The car wants to run, too, as I find myself having to limit my speed. The controls are all logically laid out and easy to use (far better than the Accord) and even the base stereo system rocks! I loved my Toyota, but so far I really love this Sonata! Honda and Toyota beware!

So far, so good

Looked at competitive models (including older Sonata) for 2 years and were never satisfied enough to buy. Price always got too high for proper equipment level and fuel mileages were usually too low. The 2011 Sonata looks good on paper and so far, has lived up to Hyundai's specs. Performance and handling are more than adequate and fuel mileage is as good as a 4 cylinder small car. Interior room is ample plus. Great setup of dash and controls for driver and the ride is smooth and quiet. The electric assisted power steering took awhile to adjust to but after 1000 miles I'm fine with it. In my opinion, this car looks sharp, in and out, and has excellent fit and finish at any price level.

I picked up the 2011 Sonata SE with Pkg 4 (Nav and Sunroof) at $24,600.00 plus tax, tags, title, doc (total price: $26,657.00) a couple of days ago. I drove about 180 miles back home (NJ) from the dealer (MD). This car is beautiful and drives like dream. It's got everything: tight cornering, good suspension, very well laid interior design, beautiful gauge cluster, very well integrated navigation system and very well appointed seats. This car accelerates with grace and reaches 80-100 in no time. Mercedes, The is the first (family) car that ever excited me in driving. Luxury brand cars such as Lexuses on the road looked silly and ugly as I enjoyed Sonata's ride and beauty on the trip back.

For all this in one car you can't beat the price. I drove an Accord and Mazda 6 and each of those cars with these options would have costs $5K - $6K more! Very impressed so far with my new car!

I am a big man to the tune of 6'3" over 300 lbs. I have plenty of room in this car. It is fun to drive and the controls are very handy and laid out very well. This is the first vehicle that I have had in 15 years that was not a truck or SUV. Other than it sits lower than what I am used too it has been a great car so far.

Pretty Comfy ride. SE is more rough, but the limited is smooth. I am confident that you can get a loaded Limited w/o nav for 23,5 or 24 as opposed to the MSRP. The engine though deceivingly small, is pretty powerful. People complain about not having a V-6, but unless you live in a hilly rural or suburban area, I don't see the point at all. I think Hyundai did good finally after all these years. They convinced me, and I admit I used to laugh at Hyundai until recently. Ultimately we bought this car for the safety, feel, warranty and looks. Can't comment about reliability just yet, although the Sonata has been doing good in the past couple of years. But we are very optimistic!

I just bought this base model vehicle and felt like i bought a loaded model. Toyota would never be so generous in a CE. Hands-free bluetooth is a great feature. Includes cruise control, and trip features. I got 30 mpg on my first tank of gas. It cruises like any other 4 cyl., but performs like a 6 cyl. when acceleration is required. Hyundai stepped its game up big time.

I never though of a Hyundai before, saying Hyundai years back was not attractive, there model were square and ugly but when you say 2011 Hyundai sonata you are talking about luxury, elegance, beautiful body, attractive car. no brand new Lexus or BMW has nothing better then my Hyundai. I have nothing to envy from them with my 2011 sonata. I love it! Pearl White is the best color for it shape.

Hated to give up my Sebring Convt bought new in 02 but after 100k it was time. (I'll miss it this summer) When I saw the Sonata on tv (Super Bowl ads, I was impressed. As follow up I looked at those on lots and at the Cleveland Auto Show. I love the looks and interior. The price was in my range so I bought the SE model. Its features are plentiful and practical. Bluetooth is great and I'm glad the dealer did the connection. Not sure I'll use the "Paddle" shift. Gas mileage on 1st tank was 28.2 mpg, about 5 more than the convert, so I'm glad of that. Still getting used to the features-- not sure XM is for me, but it's a nice option. Hope the 18" wheels don't hurt when replaced$$$. Glad to Buy.

As soon as I noticed the 2011 Sonata on the lot I knew I had to drive it. I was driving a 2009 Sonata that I also loved from the very beginning. The sleek new lines are very attractive and they make the car look much more expensive than it really is. The six speed transmission is much more refined and it seems to hug the road better than my '09. I am a six footer and the drivers compartment is very comfortable. All of the controls are well laid out and easy to reach.

After a week of ownership, the air bag light stayed on (dealership fixed it and said it was a loose connector). After two weeks, the transmission needed to be replaced while driving along, it suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 4th gear causing the car to suddenly slow down (fortunately there was no one directly behind me as no brake lights come on so they would have had no way of knowing that I was slowing down).

While most of my Sonata experience is good some things I don't like 1) When starting the car when the engine is cold I believe there is excessive noise, have told the dealer about it had them come out to my house so they could start it cold. They tell me it's the fuel pump and the noise is normal. 2) The site lines to the rear are terrible. 3) The horn sounds like a bike horn. 4) I have owned the car for just over a year and I got aprox. 27mpg for the first 6500 miles. Since then mpg has gone down to aprox. 24 mpg. I have talked to the dealer about it but they tell me there are no error codes and ???.Overall I like the car but don't think I'd buy another.

We purchased our Sonata SE in February, 2010. We absolutely love it. Everywhere we go, everyone seems to be staring at the vehicle. We purchased the 2011 Sonata sold at our dealership, so few people knew what is was. Our vehicle is Venetian Red. We get compliments on the vehicle everywhere we go. Some have mistaken it for a Lexus.

I am in my early 70's and this is an amazing car. For the first time, I have found a car in which the drivers seat travel backwards exceeds the length of my legs. The telescoping and tilt wheel puts things just where it is comfortable for me seats are comfortable..ride is firm, yet compliant on bumps. Six speed tranny is very smooth..power is great. Feels like a V6 rather than a 4. Interior layout is easy to get comfortable with. Exterior is a great look. I see now why the NAV package is what I considered pricey. it does a lot more than just the "Garmin GPS" stuff. It is worth the extra price, and then some..the car has a near-luxury feel, at a much lower cost.

I just purchased this vehicle to replace my 10 year old Chrysler 300M. I thought I would have to give up some of the creature features when I purchased a new one.....NOT. The new Hyundai Sonata was just what I needed. Great Looks, Super Fuel Economy (without having to lug around a battery pack), Quality, Quiet Ride, Responsive handling and a Warranty Second to None! If you have not looked at the Hyundai line up of vehicles lately, you need to take a trip to your local dealer. Take a test drive and then make up your own mind about their products. They are on top of their game with a solid product offering for the American driver.

After trading in my Mustang convertible in 2005 on a brand new 2005 Sonata, I swore I would never again own a Sonata. The '05 was slow and got lousy gas mileage, I hated it! After the dealership gave me the 2011 Sonata as a rental while the '05 was being repaired, I fell in love and never stepped back into that crummy '05 again. The standard features are amazing and I don't know how I ever lived without Bluetooth although it does act up sometimes, it's still a great feature. I love the interior and exterior design. It's more roomy than the '05, but drives and handles so much better. I can't say enough how much I love this car.

So far, way to go HYUNDAI!

Coming off of a 4-year lease of a Saturn Ion, I was diligent about test driving many different cars (e.g., Maxima, Altima, CC, TSX, etc). For me it came down to the 2010 Acura TSX Tech and the 2011 Sonata Limited (w/ Navigation). For the value I could not beat the Sonata. The look and feel of the two cars were comparable, however I liked the few extra touches on the Sonata (like the push button ignition) and of course the price. Overall, I could not be more pleased with my purchase.

When the first pictures from the Los Angeles auto show appeared in December I said to myself, "This is my next car if it proves out." It has proven out. A test drive revealed the quietness, the comfort, the smoothness of the transmission, the zip (before you know it you're doing 60), the interior fit and finish, and all the luxurious features such as the trip meter and the XM radio, which I have grown to love. I prefer cloth seats to leather, so the GLS is just the ticket -- all I need and then some. I look for excuses to go somewhere in my silver ghost.

This car has the looks, performance and ride of others that are priced 2- 3K higher. Whats not to like about that ? Smooth ride, big interior cabin, handsfree BT on steering wheel. MPG for me is 39 Hwy, and 30 around town. Pretty amazing for a car with 200 HP.

All I can say is that Hyundai has really impressed me. I never thought I would purchase a Hyundai because of all the negative comments I read on the previous models. I traded in my 2010 Toyota Camry XLE V6 and to my surprise it drives the same to me. I really enjoy looking at my car and driving it. Don't take our word for, just go in and test drive one.

Just made a 200 mile trip with my 2011 Sonata GLS auto. I averaged 37.4 mpg on rolling GA back roads. That means periods of 55 mph, lowered to 45 near towns, then 35, and finally 25 by the speed trap. There was a brief period of interstate driving where the gas pedal was put to good use. 80 comes very quickly. The Sonata is not a sports car, but it can move!

The car overall is great. It definitely stands out from the crowd of comparable vehicles. My wife and I love it. The small details and sum of its parts make it seem so much more expensive than it is. I purchased it for business, where I need to make a positive impression on clients. It reveals style, class and at the same time economical sound judgment (especially during this tough financial climate.) It costs THOUSANDS more for the Accord and Camry to match the features of even the base Sonata. Another note, I am 6'4'' and have ample room in the front and rear of the vehicle. One last piece of advice: read the reviews here of the competition and you may become a proud Hyundai owner

If your looking for a fuel efficient full size car, this is it. We bought our Sonata last year based on consumer reviews and now have +17K miles on it. We just drove it on a 3000 mile tour of New England and averaged over 35 mpg with mostly highway driving, at 75 mph....close to 600 miles p/fill up. Truly amazing!!!! Even thru the hills of Vermont and New Hampshire, it had plenty of get up and go when I needed it. The combination of the direct fuel injection, the 6 spd tranny and the aerodynamics I believe is the key factor for the performance of this car. My wife has been able to achieve close to 30 MPG in suburban driving back and forth to work.

So far the car has amazed us with all the standard features. I really like the ac controls and the air bags that surround you and all the passengers. It looks make it seem like the car cost more than it really does. I was able to get my car at $500 back of invoice so the car came out under $20,000. Which is amazing for all the feature you get. I would guess for a Honda Accord with the same feature would cost around $26,000.

I've had this car for a couple of months now and I love it to bits. When I was making the decision to buy a car, it was between the Accord & the Sonata. I test drove the Sonata first and loved how it felt the moment my foot depressed the accelerator. When I test drove the Accord, I was somewhat disappointed. Granted, the Accord is a very solid, reliable car but that was it (I was also looking at the V4 engine so I'm not speaking for the V6). I test drove the Sonata again and fell in love all over again, 198 ponies and all. The GDI is great and makes the driving experience a lot of fun. All in all, very solid, reliable car, fun to drive, looks great, and a great price!

We had a 2006 Sonata GLS V6, which we loved. It had 83,000 miles without a problem. It was totaled recently in an accident so we were forced to go car shopping. I test drove a Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion, but new 2011 Sonata is a very impressive car. New GDI engine is very efficient. Doesn't necessarily sound pretty, but quiet once going with very adequate power. The new 6 speed shifts great, keeps rpm low when driving easy and downshifts quickly when asked too. MPG 33-37 for us so far. We bought the GLs for the slightly softer seats and slightly better ride than the SE. Our two tone tan/black interior makes car look more expensive than it is. Paid $19,800 with Hyundai loyalty.

There's a reason users give it a 9.7 and Efmunds only 7.8. Edmunds was only with it for a few hours. Live with this car and you will love looking at it before you get in and love it even more behind the wheel. First, it looks and feels more like a Benz than a Hyundai. I still can't believe I bought a Hyundai and I'm lovin' every moment of it. Got a Limited in Black. Wow, does this car sparkle. And does it get looks from others. I had 2 guys in a new Porsche Turbo convertible turn around once they past me just to look at the front. The car speaks luxury. And all for very little $$. I had a 2007 Camry XLE with V-6 and got tired of this boring car and seeing myself coming and going.

When looking for a new car my wife and I looked at several factors. Fuel economy, style, comfort, and warranty. We found all of these in the Sonata. We love the look of the car, the ride, style, and most of all the fuel economy. We drove 1000 miles on a tank and half of gas. The car has plenty of power to pass other vehicles. I am amazed that this car can get this kind of fuel economy with this amount of power. We love our car. Our son bought one the following week.

Test drove Honda Accord EX-L, Ford Fusion SE, Toyota Camry SE, and the Nissan Altima. To be honest I doubted the Sonata, as my mom had purchased an Elentra back when Hyundai had just started selling vehicles over here in the States. All I remember of that car was inferior design and quality material compared to other cars of that time (1999 to be exsact)...I was on the verge of finalizing a deal on the Ford Fusion; but, I listend to the wife and took this out for a test drive. Needless to say, it blew the competition in my opinion out of the water. BEAUTIFUL car, awesome power, just more than what I was expect, a true game changer. Way to go Hyundai //cheers !!!!

Own a Honda V6 Accord and still love it. My mate needed to replace his old junker so we went looking for a later model used car because I didn't want to hand down my Honda. 4 banger Hondas (I am more interested in fuel economy now)have not improved (mainly I hate the noise)so we looked at the Hyundais. I was pretty blown away. We took a 500 mile trip and went (shhh) 75-80 most of the way-got 33 mpg! As near as I can figure that is so far out in front of any other lg. sedan on the market. When combined with the quietness and snappy performance I don't think it can be beat. On a 2 lane road I passed 3 cars effortlessly and smoothly. All in all it's a SWEET Ride.

Since driving it I having second thoughts about making it a company vehicle. It looks great, drives well and has wonderful gas mileage. The interior is comparable to the luxury cars I am accustom to driving. Recently, while out of town, I rented a Cadillac CTS. The preferred the interior to my new Hyundai. i wasn't always a believer, but I am now. Great Job Hyundai, great job!

"Korean Car" No Longer A Pejorative

This is not quite the cruiser my 2003 Accord V6 is, but it handles extraordinarily well, is extremely comfortable, has a great sound system and is beautiful inside and out. The engine is raspier than a V-6 off the line, but is among the quietest in its class at speed. Factoring in inflation, this car cost about $1,500 less than my Accord seven years ago, yet is better equipped. One thing I find quite interesting is that this car feels a little too flashy and floaty to say it emulates Japanese or European design. It is too well crafted to say it emulates American design. It is distinctly its own -- Korean. And after 25 years of selling in the U.S., that is finally a good thing for Hyundai.

So far, the Sonata has been living up to most of my expectations. I bought a Pacific Blue Pearl w/ popular package. As I expected, the ride is between a Camry and Accord; not as floaty as a Camry and not as sporty as an Accord. The exterior design is better (in my opinion) than all the other midsized sedans out there right now. Interior cluster, layout is better also. The oil filter and drain plug position is great. I only hope that the carbon deposit issues found in direct injected engines that Audi, VW, and BMW have/had does not occur to the Sonata; time will tell. For $22,3xx.00 drive out, I believe this is the best bang for the buck right now.

Just returned my 2007 Nissan Altima SL as my lease expired (which I enjoyed very much during my lease term) and was considering to lease a 2010 Altima SL again...until I read and test drove the new Sonata. WOW! Love the styling, ride, warranty and all the standard options on the Limited model which i just leased.Purchased the Phantom Black without the NAV option from Global Auto Mall in NJ (great people!)anyway... been driving it for a few days and really enjoying it. Only thing I sense is that the engine is slightly louder than my Altima maybe due to the fact it had a CVT transmission. Interior, XM and HD radio as well as front and rear heated seats is crazy! A headspinner on the road too !!

My wife and I simply love this car. This is a second Sonata for me (2002 LX), and it's apparent the strides that Hyundai has made in quality. The mileage is tremendous, the ride is smooth and comfortable, and the feature set is impressive. Oh, and the Venetian Red is certainly a head-turner!

Engine and transmission are great. Ride can be noisy (thinks its the tires) and hard sometimes (se package), but mostly ok. Pack full of features, price is great. Car does not like to get pushed hard, steering doesn't have much feel. But for most regular driving is very good. Do recommend.

I’ve had my 2011 Sonata Limited w/Nav for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it. People often mistake it for a Buick, Lexus, BMW and Mercedes. There are currently 3 2011 Sonatas on my block. I traded my 05 Pontiac Gran Prix for the Sonata. Although I haven’t made any long trips I’m very impressed with the combo MPG thus far. I truly believe Sonata will be a force to reckon with for many years to come. As a matter of fact the Dealership where I purchased my Sonata had more people there shopping for cars than the local mall. Hyundai really hit this one out of the park, leaving me with 2 words about my 2011 Sonata experience, “SIMPLY OUTSTANDING”.

I've had this car for just over a week now and I'm very impressed so far. my Buying experience was excellent and i would recommend the dealer to anyone. i drive approx 30k a year so i wanted something that would be economical reliable and comfortable. In my experience so far the fuel economy has been amazing, with mostly highway driving i returned 37 mpg with a 50-50 mix i returned 30mpg. the 100k warranty really sets my mind at ease. the car is decent to drive, and while its not a "driver's car" its better sorted than a lot of cars. there is excellent room inside and the transmission seems pretty solid. the standard features are awesome. for a midsized sedan it handles pretty well.

A big change from an Altima

Bought this car last month and so far it has not disappointed me in the least. The ride is comfortable, but not as soft as the Altima but that is why it is sport tuned. Took it ont he highway and was doing close to 85 without knowing it-very good ride. i am filling up tomorrow to check the mileage since this was mainly parkway driving,no lights, etc. My Altima got 31mpghighway wiht the 2.5L four so we will see.
