Used 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Consumer Reviews
Lots of bang for the buck
Bought this car 3 weeks ago and have put 1700 miles on it. I've been getting 26-27 mpg combined city/hwy mileage. The base V-6 is quiet & delivers spirited acceleration in town and when passing on the highway. The 6-speaker stereo sounds good; I really like the XM satellite radio, and the USB as I can put all my music on a tiny jump drive and don't have to clutter the car with CD's. Interior is comfortable, well- appointed, and build quality is as good as Honda, Toyota, etc. Handling & ride quality are excellent, & the stock tires seem to work well in all conditions.
consumer reports was spot on
when its new its so quiet I have tried to start a already running engine. this is a great suv, I can tow 3k pounds at 80 mph in west Texas heat all day without a hiccup. the bad stuff, the rear lift gate gas struts are too weak so the tailgate hangs a little low and causes a head bang, replaced but same thing.- The trunk area "automatically self cleans" itself at highway speeds with the windows down due to no outlet air vent in the back, the air swirl is so bad I have lost jackets, once I had a entire roll of paper towels unrolled streaming out of the window- for some %#@^&* reason the lift gate glass doesn't open like on most suv's.- I had to get the spoiler repainted - the front headlight assembly's fog up from the sun, replacements are on ebay 30 min job, - the 3.3 valve cover gaskets leak oil on to the alternator which is a known recall item, dealer repair. - to change the pvc valve and rear bank of spark plugs is a 4+ hr job. can clean the intake valves at the same time, gdi engine , mine were very clean at 70000,- steering wheel leather breaks down from wear, found a new wheel on ebay. In my opinion the seat leather is too thin, if someone stands in the sunroof you can tear the leather of the seat, and the leather gets dry and hard even with maintenance, seat back map holders tear loose too easily. - lots of ground clearance except oh wtf, exhaust poorly routed hangs down too far. on the 2x4 version. - comes with wimpy azz tires, I am running 245/60 r 18 sumitomo htr a/s po2 which stick like glue, -

2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
I owned this SUV and found it spacious and low cost to own. There were a few recalls that were covered by Hyundai.

first time owner
i never thought i would own a foreign vehicle, but after test driving the santa fe, and the ford edge. i had to buy the santa fe. i owned an explorer, and hated the gas mileage, and the sluggish handling. the santa fe is a very pleasurable experience to drive.
