This is my first Hyundai vehicle after much research and i am pleased with my purchase. There are great discounts on this model in my case 3k discount. I wanted a reliable comfortable car with decent room and great gas mileage. The Value Edition Elantra fit the bill. My test drive revealed an uncommonly quiet and smooth ride for the class. Im 6 ft tall and was able to easily find a comfortable driving position. Once warmed up engine was smooth and quiet for a four cylinder. The performance for me was more than satisfactory as im not heavy on the gas. If i wanted more performance i would have opted for the sport version but you also pay more for it in gas and insurance. The sport driving mode gives this car a decent amount of pep if you want it but you take a hit in gas mileage. Regular mode is just fine with me. Ive been averaging 34 mpg in mixed driving. I hit 41 mpg in just hwy driving at one point. In addition this car has a real spare tire, a hand brake as opposed to electronic , real knobs for tuning , volume and other functions! Apple car play works flawlessly as with Bluetooth and phone functions. The fit and finish are top notch. I am impressed with Hyundai and will likely buy another one fir my next vehicle.

*ORIGINAL REVIEW* I've only owned my Elantra SEL for about two weeks at the time of writing this, so this review is based solely on my initial impressions of the car. PROS: It's an excellent value in its class. The Elantra offers almost everything I want and expect from a car, except for a couple of gripes below. It looks classy inside and out. The build quality seems top-notch, aside from a few rattles. The interior is a very attractive and comfortable place to spend time. Passengers comment that it seems much more upscale than they'd expect for a compact economy car. The driver's seat is a nice balance of comfort and support. My bad back and hip seem to have no issue with this seat. I've done a couple of 5+hr drives with no discomfort. Ergonomics are very good overall, though I do dislike how high the window sill is. I can't comfortably rest my arm on it, even with the seat height raised up significantly. It's not hard to find a comfortable driving position. The driver's seat is height adjustable and the steering wheel both tilts and telescopes. The manual climate control is simple and easy to use, though I often find myself flip-flopping between fan speeds 2 and 3 to keep a comfortable cabin temperature. The 2.0L Atkinson-cycle 4cyl. engine is smooth and has plenty of pep for my taste. I've been averaging 37-38 MPG in mixed driving. The 6-spd automatic transmission feels weird. It's my least favorite aspect of the car. It downshifts aggressively when I'm decelerating to a stop. I feel it bumping down through every gear. I should note that this transmission has 3 drive modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. The issue of bumping down through the gears aggressively is not apparent in Eco mode, only Normal and Sport. It also has a weird delay of power when upshifting from one gear to the next, as if it partially cuts throttle during the upshifts. Overall, it's just an odd feeling transmission, especially in city driving where my speed fluctuates a lot below 40mph. The ride quality is a nice balance of firm and stable, yet smooth and relatively absorbent. The 4-wheel disc brakes are strong and the brake pedal has good feel, if maybe slightly spongy. I'm appreciating the Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which beeps inside the car when it detects a vehicle or pedestrian crossing behind me with the car in Reverse. It's saved me more than once. The maintenance required is very infrequent, making it a cheaper car to run. I split the difference between the normal and severe service schedule. Oil changes once every 5,000 miles. The transmission fluid every 60k miles. There is no timing belt to replace at regular intervals, since it has a timing chain. It has traditional multipoint fuel injection, so there is no extra maintenance required for GDI like on some other vehicles. *UPDATE 12/14/19* I've been driving my Elantra for 1 year and about 12k miles now. My opinion hasn't changed regarding the pros and cons mentioned above. Since the first week of ownership, however, there have been 2 persistent problems and one fluke that my local Hyundai dealers have been unable or unwilling to fix. First, the engine has random temper tantrums. The engine runs perfectly one day, then the next it exhibits multiple symptoms. It sputters, acts like it wants to stall, makes horrible rattling noise while accelerating and feels it's lacking its usual power. The check engine light has never illuminated during these times, which I find very odd. On two separate occasions the transmission slipped between gears. I was accelerating and when the transmission attempted to change gears it felt like the car went into neutral. The engine RPMs jumped way up while the car lost momentum. The lesser issue, but still annoying, has been a creaking noise coming from the front suspension. I guess both problems have to get worse before either of my local dealerships will be able to properly diagnose and repair. There were initially a couple of interior rattles, but those seem to have sorted themselves out. *UPDATE 6/16/20* 1.5yrs and 16k miles into my ownership now. Still loving the car for all the positive points mentioned above. No new issues to report, though the above mentioned poor running symptoms persist. That has been the Achilles heel detracting from my complete love of this car. One new negative point to mention is the low ground clearance. I have to be hyper-vigilant every time I pull into a parking space facing a curb. The "chin" of the car is extremely low and scrapes the concrete. I've never had this problem in any of the dozen cars I've owned in the past. *UPDATE 12/18/20* Currently at almost 20k miles. Still loving the car. Still hating the persistent problems. Gas mileage is fantastic. 34mpg in mostly city driving lately. Exceeds 45mpg on the interstate at 70mph. I'm still living with the poor engine performance and suspension noise. At the dealerships recommendation, I'm waiting for the check engine light to come on. Considering it hasn't come on yet in 2yrs, I'm starting to wonder if it ever will. *UPDATE 12/18/21* After 3yrs and 25k miles of ownership, I sold my Elantra. I was so tired of dealing with the ongoing problems. After writing a very unflattering review of my local dealership on a survey Hyundai sent me, they finally fixed the suspension noise last Spring. It turned out to be a defective front strut assembly. The engine was still running poorly with no solution. I was done dealing with this headache of a car. It had to go. I do not recommend the 2017-2020 Hyundai Elantra. All problems I experienced with mine are common complaints. It's a shame because it's a great looking car, solidly built, with nice materials and fitment. Plenty of pep and great gas mileage. Reeks of competence and quality, but with abysmal reliability under the hood.

Way Better Than I Would Have Thought

John, 04/06/2018
2018 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition SULEV 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A)

A 2018 Elanta was the last car that I thought I would buy. I owned a 2008 Elantra which was the only new car that I could afford at the time. It was an okay budget car, but I have driven golf carts with better driving dynamics. Ten years later, I wanted something more upscale with better road manners. My research led me to believe that the Civic or Jetta would be my best choices. But the Civic looks to me like a weird insect and the seats are really low. And the new Jetta has promise, but the old maxim of not buying a redesigned car in its first year lead me away. I was thinking of buying the current Jetta model assuming that I could negotiate a great deal on a discontinued car. Then I was on vacation and the rent-a-car place allowed me to choose which car I wanted in the aisle. I saw the new Elantra and thought it would be interesting to see what it is like to drive. I was totally blown away. Inside the car is really nicely designed and looks sporty. The value edition feels like a luxury car. And the way it rides is so improved over previous models. It is quiet and holds the road well. A number of the professional reviews say that it is not fun to drive, which compared to other new compact cars on the market (Golf, Civic, Mazda 3) is probably correct, but I think it is fun enough. It’s certainly a refined driving experience. Gas mileage is really good. I’m getting over 45 MPG on highway drives. The engine is a little slow at lower speeds but not at all a problem on the highway when you are already over 50+ miles per hour. I would recommend taking it for a test drive. Hyundai seems to realize that once you drive you, you will actually like it. I guess that is why they are giving out $40 gift cards with test drives. Hey, that is nice of them as well. I suggest calling around to various dealers to get the best price. It was not too hard for me to get $4500 off MSRP for the value edition.

Overall an excellent vehicle. It's definitely a little compact in the rear seats but the front is as good as a full sized sedan. I got the value edition and the only thing I miss is the power seat but I don't normally change my seat position once I set it and I am the only one who drives my car so not a big deal. Fog lamps, USB & Aux, Sun roof, auto dimming mirror with garage opener, key less lighted entry and start/stop, auto climate control and the best features (also my favorites) are the touch screen with android Auto / iCar Play integration, blind spot detection and smart trunk . Both exterior and interior styling is top notch and nothing can beat the 5 year/60 K mile warranty. This is my 4th Hyundai (first brand new) and I have only seen quality improve over the last 15 years. Now, that's what I call a style, economy, safety & convenience package! ...and it's true...best things do come in small packages.

I love this car. I am kind of wishing I had bought the Limited edition to get the BlueLink, Lane Assist, and power driver seat, but the Value Edition gives you most things you could want for a great price. Best car I have ever owned, and I have owned 8 cars now. It is a comfortable ride and integrates technology well. The only thing I miss is having a CD player. Well worth the price, and better than the other compact cars that I drove. I test drove the Nissan Sentra, Mazda 3, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Chevy Cruze, Kia Forte, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Jetta, and the Subaru Impreza. Among these cars, the Hyundai Elantra rose above the rest for me in looking for a reliable, fuel efficient, comfortable car with the few extra features I wanted. Also very sporty, I enjoyed modifying some of the features to make it look even better. It's styling is probably my favorite part. I highly recommend the Elantra, and will probably buy it again in the future. Update: After 3 years of ownership & 67,000 miles, it is still the best car I’ve ever owned. I have not had a single issue with the vehicle not even minor ones.

I am a big man and this car is super comfortable. I purchased for 15500 after 2.75k down. That included two dealer addons. It has navigation, steering wheel adjustment, a good sound system, good storage, and it looks good. I have gotten 44mpg but average around 40 highway. Sometimes when it shifts it is a little edgy but that is really my only complaint and it is a minor one. Visibility and comfort is excellent. I highly recommend this vehicle. Plus the 100k warranty is nice.

Sport - the need for speed

Falcon, 07/27/2018
2018 Hyundai Elantra Sport 4dr Sedan (1.6L 4cyl Turbo 7AM)

Love the looks and performance of the Sport model. The Sport trim just flat out looks better than the other trims. The Elantra Sport may be the best looking small car on the market today. Some have complained about the 2017's DCT (7 speed auto), but I've found the operation of the 2018's as smooth as butter. Go drive one for yourself. The auto is faster than the manual in the Sport trim, and the Sport is WAY faster than the other models. Steering feels quick. Auto trans rips off quick shifts when needed. Also, seem to be getting better than expected mpg's - around 38 on my all highway commute. No need for nav - standard Apple Car Play takes care of that. Ride may be a little too firm for some people's taste. Only wish it had a driver's power seat - that's it.

AWESOME CAR, I rented an Elantra when I was on vacation. I absolutely fell in love. When I entered the vehicle the interior was beautiful. It was equipped with the large touch screen, Apple Play and everything was easy to figure out. I like the fact that the touch screen is integrated into the dashboard, not plopped on top like some other cars. As for the pickup, Phenomenal even in eco mode. The car has a ton of pick up, switch to sport mode and away you go. I’ve been averaging about 28 mpg with mostly short trips. It is quiet while on the highway. and the A/C is great, for someone who is always hot, I actually have to turn this one down a bit because I’m cold :-) All in all a great car, just watch out for the way most dealers play with the numbers and try to screw you over. My dealer tried to steal my trade and then add the balance of my old note to the new one. Nice huh? 3/10/21 - Still loving my Elantra. The Apple play and all the other features are great. Would buy another one they are awesome. 9-10-22 STILL AWESOME

Just got this car and am already impressed. Got almost 40 mpg coming home from the dealer. Now when I put it in sport that number drops significantly. Now this isn't a "sports" car but it sticks to the road nicely while still riding quite comfortably. This car is a Jack of all trades. You can drive it in eco and it doesn't feel like a gimmick, unlike some cars. It's sporty enough to fuel the man in me but comfortable enough to please the old man in me.

Enjoyed 07 model and how a 2018

Kay Jay, 03/15/2018
2018 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A)
7 of 7 people found this review helpful

I enjoyed every mile of my 07 Elantra and have thus far no reason not to expect the same of my 18 model. The 18 model had a 'compact' familiar feel when driving and really responsive like the 07, a strong selling point for me. The 'bad' was in discovering later just how much less cubby hole room the 18 has in comparison! The seat shape however for me is a HUGE plus compared to the 07. I economized to the cloth seats from the leather seats which I do miss as pet/horse hair does NOT just brush off! (I do cover upholstery anyway but it still is evident.) I do not understand why manufacturers tend NOT to use HARD to scuff plastic on door panels and foot areas!?? For glare/reflection reasons a black interior is a big plus, in consideration of dust etc., black is NOT a plus. I currently have just shy of a 1000 miles on my 18 and am really enjoying the driving experience of the 18 model. The cruise control is MUCH more precise and responsive compared to the 07. I am really impressed with the quicker auto shifting (in ECO mode too)! I drive many hills and a big grade frequently. I too enjoy the ability to shift up or down when applicable. The acceleration is much better than the 07 by a good bit! Actually 'shocks' me at times :) My mileage is largely consistent with my profession and I've already noticed a significant difference in going longer between fill ups than the 07, YEAH! Getting used to the computer system has taken some persistence and I'm still learning though 'getting along' better with it. MISS a CD player! I was glad to see a UCB port and an auxiliary plug. The variety of comfort related controls is nice and enjoying my moon/sun roof :)) and the THREE settings for heat in the front seats! The suspension system buffers quite a bit more than the 07 which is very nice, even on wash board roads! However I miss the additional road feel I had in the 07 especially when frequently driving a curvy highway. Pros/cons... can't have it all.... Overall being tuned into details when I am driving, I am really impressed with the performance of the 2018 Elantra. (The leather steering wheel was a bit 'slippery' so I rubbed in a hand lotion with my normal addition of liquid lanolin. Problem solved :) ) Thus far I've only had a chance to get a combined rural city driving and hwy figure for mpg. Though I 'gave up' a leather interior, the performance of the car makes up for it and I walked out paying just 1800 more than I did for my 07 brand new (both having extended warranties)!

Let me start by saying how much I love this car. I use my Elantra to commute to school and back daily. I am in the marching band, so when I leave the house it's dark at 6 in the morning. The headlights work great! Probably the only complaint I have about the car is that the shiny plastics are so easy to scratch. So if you are looking for this review before buying the car, NEVER, NOT EVER, USE A MICROFIBER CLOTH! Other than that, the "Batmobile" as I call it, is like a limo for me. I wax it monthly and keep it in tip-top shape. It may be a 21 thousand dollar car, but I treat it like its 80. Also, I love the fuel economy. In the morning when I am driving to school, 39 MPG is my average.

Bought this car 3 weeks ago and love it!!! The safety features alone got me, back up camera and side detection are spot on. Never felt more comfortable driving and I like I can go from Eco to Regular with ease, especially on the highway. Sport is a bit to fast for my liking, but can't wait to take this car on a road trip! I really enjoy the android hookup for navigation, music and phone calls. Definitely takes technology in a car to a new level and love the 7in display. For my vanity I got the electric blue, its such a sharp option especially with a sun roof. Lastly the mpg is great for fuel economy and the warranty beats many others.

Have to open door to shut off dash display

This is my third Hyundai and I have been well pleased with the mileage, dependability and almost zero recalls on all three. The gas mileage indicator is not a true indication of actual mileage. When I want to check my actual mileage, I always reset my odometer to zero after a tank fill up. With the 2018 Elantra, I get around 40 mpg with mixed city/hwy driving and 37 mpg with city only driving. I now have 5,800 miles on this car. The aggravating problem that I don't like is the way the ignition key and dash display is wired. I often park and turn the ignition to lock, removing the key and continue to sit in the driver's seat while my wife shops. After a few minutes the battery discharge warning comes on and I have to open and shut the driver's door to power down the dash display. Occasionally, I find the trunk lid open because my key has accidentally bumped into something in my pocket. This was also happening in my 2013 Hyundai Elantra. We're afraid to put valuable items in the trunk due to this problem. The plastic panels at the bottom of the door frames scratch easily and I don't believe they are high quality material.

I do not have anything bad to say about this car. We are very pleased. I also own a 2010 elantra , which has been an really good car. The ride in the 2018 is much better and quieter, but I haven't had any problems with the 2010. 08-29-19 still very pleased, mpg a little higher.

Update: 77,000 miles and buy a single issue. The dealer replaces a worm shaft inside the steering column that was causing a scraping sound when turning the steering wheel. Fixed. Everything else still applies from my previous reviews. Bought new and I cannot believe I got this car for what I paid. Update: 57,000 and still loving it. Still no squeaks or rattles, shifts smoothly. Great gas mileage. Get all of my service recommendations and oil changes at the dealer. Thoroughly satisfied. I’ve owned the 2018 Value Edition for 14 mos and 26,000 miles. Not a squeak or rattle. I have to look at the dash and listen for the chime to make sure I’ve turned the car off. Yes it’s happened more than once, it’s so quiet. The Value Edition has a luxury feel with the leather steering wheel, heated seats, automatic climate control which is the best of any car I’ve owned. Sheer heaven in the winter on 76-78 auto with two ticks on the heated seats. You’ll not want to get out of it and face reality when you get to your destination, I promise! Summer all the coolness you need. Tested and approved in Las Vegas heat!! Blind spot monitoring and rear cross alert have saved me many a time. Average 38-40 mpg on my long commute. Always in ECO mode. Happy with power and comfort for this class. Perfect size car. I don’t feel like I’m in an econo box, nor do I feel like I’m sailing a boat. Purchase was based on a rental experience. I rent a lot of cars on trips bigger and more expensive sometimes, but I’m always glad to get back to the airport and into my Elantra. Tip, get the Value Edition or Limited if you can.

Overall I am satisfied with this vehicle. This is my first new car so some of the issues I have with it may be standard. I really don't like the warning that pops up every time you start the car. Should be a way to disable it. It goes away by itself but still bugs me. I am not thrilled about the plastic on the dash and doors. It absorbs oil and dirt easily. Had some finger grease prints on the fuse cover in the cab from the dealer and had a blast trying to get that off. The car is touchy on the highway trying to go straight. Just the smallest movement of the steering wheel you are drifting to one side or the other. You can hear the road noise more then I would except at highway speeds. I couldn't find a place together in the manual that would tell me what all the beeps or noise coming from the car means. Like leaving the car running and taking the smart key with you. I would of like to see that all in one place. The car break in period in the manual needs more detail. Pretty much it says to keep between 2k and 4k rpm, not at one speed and don't break hard. Well its impossible to stay between 2k and 4k rpm in city driving, plus it says to do this for 600 miles. Imagine having to fight and automatic to stay in that range for 600 miles driving around the city. I am not a fan of using the Android app for music or calls but is nice to have for navigation. I use the Bluetooth for calls and music and that is nice. I wasn't sure I would like the keyless system but the more I use it the more I like it. I still wish there was a place for the key in case all else fails. Like you go swimming with the fob and it shorts out or the fob gets ran over and is toast. My favorite things about this car is how it looks (2019 has some changes I am not to fond of). The price was good with good included options. The gas mileage was a great selling point. The warranty is nice. This points I mention are just little things to think about. For me I can live with them and really do like this car. *update* One big issue that I didn't know about the car until it started getting cold outside. The car takes extremely long to warm-up. Around freezing its a fifteen minute warm-up just till the temputure gauge starts to move. This is a known issue for 2017/2018 Elantra's with TSB 18-HA-002 but since my car was made in Alabama its not covered. I been at dealers and in contact with Hyundai USA with no help. I am averaging 30MPG for mostly 80% highway due to warm-up time. If I would of known this issue and lack of support from manufacture I would of never purchased. After some time in the car I do like Andriod Auto. I like the Waze app over Google for navigation.

elantra has a major design flaw. I have the 2018 Elantra and The grille has no mesh and is wide open. I've only owned the car for 2 months and my AC went out and their trying to make me pay 800 dollars for repairs because a rock hit the unprotected condesner and it's not covered under warranty because an object came through the wide open grill and hit it. So now every few months I'm supposed to pay 800 dollars??

Because it was late spring when I purchased this car I wasn’t thinking about driving it in the snow. My 2009 Hyundai Elantra did great in the snow. I could drive through 5 inches of it and be perfectly fine. It handled great in it. Because this car is so much lower and wider, it’s terrible in snow. The traction control must of came on 20 times on my way home from work with out first snow fall. It sounds crazy but I probably would have looked for a vehicle that was a little higher off the ground if I had thought of this. Otherwise is a good car so far. I was so fond of my last one that this one hasn’t yet grown on me. It handles great around turns. Lots of room, very comfortable. Never felt uncomfortable riding in the car for long road trips. Very stylish. There’s not that much storage space. Cup holders are limited.

Car is great overall value. Went on 800 mile round trip to mountains and averaged 43 mpg. Engine can be loud if you heavy accelerate or when going up steep mountain other than that it is very quiet and comfortable. The dash controls are very well laid out the best layout I have seen in any of its competitors. Transmission is very smooth. Dealer I purchased from included 20 year 200k warranty. Do not know how you can go wrong purchasing this car with that type of protection. General driving has resulted in 31-32 mpg in mix of city interstate driving. This car is worth serious consideration if you are in the market and do not need space for more than 4 people. We bought this after cosigning for my son in 2012 for a 2012 elantra after he got out of Navy. He still has his and it has been very reliable car which led us to giving Hyundai a Try.

The interior /trim layout is neat, clean and efficient, vehicle performance is enough for daily use, fuel economy ( city drive ) is about 29.5 mpg ( my elantra sel only has 200 miles to date, will chek again after breakin ( > 700 miles ). The only complaint from me is the riding comfort ( the suspention system is a little hard ) nice car, nice color ( LAKE BLUE ). I am pretty sure this is the right car for me !

I purchased a new 2018 Elantra SE in May 2018 and so far, I am extremely satisfied with the vehicle. I currently have about 31,000 miles (50,000 Km) on the odometer. Pros: Quiet cabin, smooth ride, very good fuel economy, comfortable front seats, very affordable for a car of this quality, silky powertrain, very comfortable and quiet on the highway Cons: Ride can be harsh on rough pavement. In very cold weather, the engine takes a little more time than my other vehicles to warm up (I live in the great white north). I am 5' 9" and 170lbs and I find the ergonomics very comfortable. My 5' 8", 130lb wife and 6' 2", 200 lbs son have driven the vehicle and they also like the seating and cabin layout. My vehicle is not equipped with any of the electronic active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assist. I believe that these features would make my driving experience safer, however I did not have the funds to purchase the more expensive model. Fortunately, the outward visibility in the cabin is very good so I have no complaints in this area. I calculated the fuel economy manually and I averaged about 34 US mpg (40 Imperial mpg - 7 Liters/100Km) in a 50/50 mix of city and highway driving on the very first tank of gas. The fuel economy is about the same or slightly better, after 30k miles. I cannot speak to the reliability since the car is only two years old. However, so far, so good. If it is anything like my previous (2010) Elantra, it will provide years of trouble free service. I am extremely pleased with the drivetrain. The 6-speed automatic transmission and the 2.0 Liter engine are well mated to provide smooth shifting and generally quiet operation. Merging onto the freeway is quite effortless as is passing and cruising at freeway speeds. Acceleration from a standstill is not spectacular but it is adequate. I have never owned a car with a more pleasant automatic transmission. Yes, I can feel the upshifts and the downshift when I am slowing down to a stop. However I find the feeling reassuring, controlled and again, pleasant. Mind you though, all my vehicles have been modestly priced. The Elantra feels quite stable in crosswinds on the freeway. This fact combined with the very low level of wind noise at freeway speeds suggest to me that the aerodynamics of this vehicle is outstanding. Handling is probably aided by the touted super strength steel that is used to make the Elantra. Quick maneuvers at high speed and tight cornering feel very safe and secure. With the tire pressure set to 36 psi (per user manual), the suspension/tire noise on rough pavement was very harsh and loud. This is probably my biggest and only semi-serious negative criticism of the Elantra. I dropped the tire pressure to 32/33psi and the ride is now quite acceptable to me. There was no noticeable change in the fuel economy after I reduced the tire pressure. The good news is that on smooth pavement, the Elantra is extremely quiet and composed. Bearing in mind that the Elantra SE is a budget car, the ride is very good, overall (at 32/33 psi). The stereo/radio sounds OK. It is quite good, again, for a budget car. I really appreciate the Bluetooth connection and the USB charging port for my cell phone. After two years of ownership, I am very pleased with the Elantra. I would not hesitate to buy another.

Perfect! for its class

I only have 2 complaints...the city gas mileage is horrible and the MPG meter is not accurate. With that said, I LOVE my car. I needed an inexpensive car (the Value Edition with all the bells and whistles except leather for $16k) with the extras I like and good hwy gas mileage. Don't believe these other reviews that say they get 42 MPG on the hwy. Yes, the meter will say 40+, but my actual average sits right between 38 and 39 mpg. I stay at 5 mph over the speed limit. So if the limit is 70, I cruise at 75. Your mpg will increase if you stay at 60-65, it's just not sustainable for hours on end. I actually fill my tank and do the math with gallons bought and actual mileage. I bought my car 11/20/2017 (2018 model) and as of 6/6/2018 I have 48k miles. So I've had LOTS of gas fill ups and my average stands consistently. Actual city gas mileage is about 25 mpg. I don't drive crazy and 99% of the time it's in Eco mode. I LOVE the cargo space. No car in its class can beat the Elantra's value. Although I don't drive crazy, I have seen what it can do. It's a bit sluggish in Eco mode (especially with the AC on), but I'm ok with that because I want the higher gas mileage. In normal mode it's as good as any other car and responds with no hesitation. And when you find yourself needing that extra kick, Sport mode is awesome! The front seats could be more comfortable...but in its class, it's about par.

I purchased a brand new Elantra 2018. there is a knocking noise when accelerating. took it to dealership. they advise me to use good gas stations. they mentioned to" avoid certain gas stations" to see how it goes .There is also sometimes a clicking noise coming from the fuse box in the engine when vehicle is in idle. I will take it back to the dealership. My previous vehicles were Toyotas. No issues with them.

Traded in my 2014 Elantra for 2018 Elantra. 2018 is roomier and newer technology I am enjoying such as Blindspot warning, larger LCD screen, better back up camera and lots more. I find it a little sluggish cimpared to 2014. This is my 3rd Hyundai. Great pricing and trade in from my dealership.

Easy to park especially when people leave a tire out or park over the line. Its small enough for parking spaces but still big on the inside. Cheap on gas. Amazing fuel economy. Big trunk. Hot heated seats. Sunroof makes car feel bigger. Controls are very easy and logically laid out. Visibility is great. Backup camera is clear. Daytime lights are sharp and bright make car look premium. Seats alittle firm but cheap fix at marshalls for 15 dollars.

I really liked Hyundai but they’ve really let go of quality. My 2018’s driver window button is no longer working, the heater is out, battery has already been replaced, and it’ll turn off on me randomly. I had a 2012 and I absolutely loved it. We traded it in for a 2018 and I do regret it.

Owned it now a little over seven weeks. Can't speak to overall reliability yet, but overall very satisfied. Great mileage including four hours highway, steep mountain terrain riding and city driving and my overall mpg was around 41 on one tank of gas! Terrific first impressions (love the heated seats on the Value model) with just a few caveats on the transmission/shifting. (It could be just me getting used to the car.) *I've owned the car for one year and have had a few issues with the heating system. Yesterday the check engine light was fixed by the dealer with a replacement thermostat part. The ride is kind of bumpy over rough roads, but then again it is a light car, not a fat luxury vehicle.

I just purchased a 2018 Elantra VE back in January and have been enjoying it ever since. The price you pay in my area is at least a couple thousand less than a comparable Civic (what most experts feel is the best car in this segment). That plus a great warranty makes this the best value of your Buck in my opinion.

Goes Like Hell and Gets Great Gas Mileage!

This Elantra SPORT is amazing! Based on road test specs, it accelerates faster than my 1967 Plymouth Satellite, 383- 4 speed, my 1964 Chrysler 300K- 413 cubic inches. It has the same size motor as my 1971 Dodge (Mitsubishi) Colt...1.6 Liter, 98 cubic inches! It lights up the front tires at will! It handles like a go cart, AND, if driven halfway normally, it gets 27 mpg around town and over 37 mpg on the highway! Leather interior, heated seats, moon roof, 18 inch alloy wheels. All of this for under $20,000, purchased new in April of 2018! Only complaint? The 245/18 tires ride like rocks on the crappy roads in NYS! For 2021-2022, Hyundai has renamed the Sport at the Elantra N series. It's the exact same car. Buy the dual clutch automatic version. It's faster than the 6 speed manual and gets much better gas mileage!!!You can embarrass many Subaru WRX's at traffic lights. For those cars to deliver maximum acceleration they have to rev to 5500 rpm and let out the clutch. Not practical at a traffic light!

I bought my first brand new car, the Hyundai Elantra 2018 value edition six months ago. I was in love with it. Then a few weeks ago, I was involved in a bad accident and my car was totaled. My car looked terrible after the crash; I knew it would be declared a total loss. However, the safety of the vehicle is what prompted me to write this review. I do not know enough about cars of the safety in them, but it was a very durable car and I left the scene with only a couple of bruises. The windshield cracked all the way to the top, but did not crack. The air bags went off right away and they were the perfect size. The front of my car was very messed up but the tires were still in great shape afterwords; I was impressed! The car also has great value. I love the blind spot detecting, the heated seats, Apple Car play, backup camera, sun roof, and the design. It's a very sharp car inside and out. A couple of days ago, I finally got a new car. This time, I bought the Hyundai Elantra 2019 value edition! I even spent a bit of time looking at other cars to see if I wanted to go with something different. Nothing beats the Elantra in my opinion: from safety, value, and design. I am very pleased!

This is a great commuter car! It is comfortable, easy to drive, easy to see out of and fun! The back seats could have a little more room. The gas mileage is great! (22-27 city) and (29-37 highway) I’ve got 39 on highway once at 75 mph! The seats are somewhat comfortable. The only cons are that there is no power adapter in the back seat. If you are looking for a cheap, reliable fun car that sips gasoline, this is your car!

Cheap, cheap, cheap

I wouldn’t recommend. I have a 2018 Hyundai and within a year and a half, it had starter issues and the overall quality of the vehicle is beyond cheap. Big hole on the floor mat and the inside panels scratch way too easy. I’ll be back to Honda after this vehicle.

Shop for the features that you will be happy with for the life of your car. I love the heated seats and sun roof option.

I owned the SEL model for three years since new and this car was a pleasure in pretty much every way. It is a nice size outside and roomy inside, the tech package is great, and the mileage is much better than EPA estimates. The ride is surprisingly quiet and smooth, and the touch screen and apple play work flawlessly

Fun car to drive. Awesome gas mileage. Sporty appearance. Love the technology in the dash. Roomy trunk. Update: 2.5 years later and still loving this car. No issues. Still fun to drive and everything working as it should.

This vehicle is comfortable to ride in, gets excellent gas mileage,. We bought one new in 2007, in 2018 we turned it in. The vehicle had 103,000 miles and was still going strong.
