the honest truth
I am a third time Hyundai owner. I started in the 80's when they first came out and I have been buying them ever since. I have to admit that I noticed the difference between this car that I own and the other two that I owned. I presently have 2006 elantra, and am looking into purchasing a 2008. I love these cars. There reliability is superb and I encourage everyone that I know, family and friends to buy a Hyundai. They are great cars and they have come a mighty long way!
My Elantra
Enjoy driving my elantra whether it's on the interstate or in town. More than peppy, throaty sound due to my interstate driving, good handling and braking. Without a/c get over 35 mpg on interstate doing at least the speed limit of 70, combo averages 29-33 mpg with a/c on interstate drops to 33 in town drops to around 25-29 mpg. Love my sunroof, cd sound could be a little better but overall best buy have ever made with the exception of my '69 boss302.

Great Car for the money
My little 2006 Elantra is a great car for the money. It has great acceleration in fact some of friends get fooled and think it has a V6 when it is only a 2.0 L engine. I love this car it gets 37 mpg on the freeway and 26 city not bad for this car. My only complaint was the tires they only lasted 33,000 miles but for the price of the car I can't complain it out lasted my cousins more expensive corolla which left her sit a few times so all and all its a great car
So far, so good
Have to say it's a good car for the money. Others complained about tires, but mine came with Michelins which were replaced just recently (I have 45K on the car). Brake pads replaced 1x so far, & just now need new battery. Only complaint is driver side wiper fails (loosens) when icy snow builds up (living in MA, this is gonna happen). Dealership told me Hyundai designed wiper to fail rather than ice buildup making wiper motor burn out. If this is true, why didn't they make it so the passenger side wiper fails when it ices up rather than driver's side? Also had weird problem with brake lights staying on, but was just a stuck switch. Dealership fixed at no cost as it was covered under warranty
Nice car overall, but quality lacking
I have owned my 2006 Elantra for 3 years now (approx 50,000 miles on it), and I am the original owner. Overall, the car is nice, comfortable and economical. However, quality has been a disappointment. When I first bought the car the headlights were aimed too low, and the steering wheel had a vibration at highway speeds. Several months later, the armrest cover material peeled off, and I noticed the passenger airbag light stays on when a fairly lighter adult passenger is seated in the seat. The weight sensor is a bit out of spec I believe. Most recently, the CD player broke. Overall, I'd buy a Honda or Toyota...for a little more money, you get much better quality/resale value.
I luv my Elantra!
Great car - cheap as hell to buy, own, and operate. We have 20K miles on in now - and we may not need to buy another car for a decade.
Customer Lost for Life
I am writing this review because I am extremely frustrated by an intermittent problem with the air conditioner. Basically, sometimes the air comes on, and sometimes it doesn't. It can take as long as 5-10 minutes for the fan to kick in. Imagine what that's like when it's 90 degrees out? Problem is, it's intermittent. I've had it in to the dealer. But if it's working when I bring it in, they can't figure out the problem. So, I will likely have to live with this as long as I have the car. I have to use my car for my job, so this is pretty awful. Every summer, it's the same thing. No more Hyundais for me.
Too low to the ground, and inside seating
I've always driven manual cars, Honda Preludes, Toyota Celica but times changed and I bought this car my first 4dr, and it's a jewel. It's not fancy it's functional since I could not afford a Prius. My only complaint it's too low to the ground making certain curbs and deep snow, and potholes a major challenge. The seating is very low and very uncomfortable. With so many trucks and SUV in this area, my car has been hit three times in there years, meaning it's low to the ground the big guys back into my car though parked and take my bumper or leave a major expense to the back of car.
My First New Car
So far I am happy with my 2006 Elantra. It's my first brand new car, so that might have a lot to do with it. However, It has pep, it's comfortable inside and I enjoy driving it... My husband who drives a mini van said it drives nice too. I wish it had cup holders in the back, other than that I have no complaints..
Excellent Overall Value
I spent over 6 months scrutinizing and driving all brands, including Honda and Toyota, and was very impressed by the Elantra's build-quality. If one looks carefully, and objectively compares body panel alignments and consistent seam gaps, the Elantra doesn't take a back seat to any car. The attention to detail and fit-and-finish on the exterior and interior are readily apparent. The Elantra drives well, and the ride is surprisingly supple and quiet. Acceleration is on par with most of the 4-cylinder automatics I've driven. For an out-the-door price, including tax, of around $13,500, it's an excellent overall value. Hyundai produces an excellent car at a most affordable price.
I am satisfied
This is my first brand new car, but I'm not really excited about it. This car is just basic transportation, in a decent looking frame. I spend almost 2 hours a day in my car and the Elantra is reasonably comfortable. I am averaging 27 mpg...I thought it would be a bit better. Anyway, I chose the maroon color and I get many compliments on the color. I was also impressed with the many standard features. It's still new so I hope it continues running well!!!
First Hyundai
This is our first Hyundai, and I have been very impressed. The ride is so smooth and quiet. Also, it is enjoyable to both drive and/or be a passenger in this vehicle because it is very comfortable. We have been shopping the market for some time now and this was the best vehicle we found for the money!
I love my Elantra!!!!!
I have owned the car for just over a month!! I was a Toyota and Honda snob!!! I do say WAS a Snob!!! After driving this car I was amazed @ the fit and finish, the 10 year Warr., @ the price!!!
2006 Hyundai
This is my first new vehicle ever, and I plan to drive this for many years to come. Although I originally intended to purchase the '06 hatchback, it was only available in a manual which I wasn't looking forward to as I drive in a lot of stop-and-go traffic. The driving of the vehicle is fantastic and I have driven some vehicles that cost twice its amount that perform much less effectively. The Elantra has a peppy 4-cyl that proves that this world does not need to be dominated by 6-cyl vehicles; it is both peppy and quick when it needs to be. It comes standard with most of the features that are not provided standard on comparable vehicles.
Very Good Car for Very Good Price
This is the first "new" car I have ever purchased, and I think it compares very favorably to the Corolla and Civic. I found that it comes with many more options standard at a much lower price, and the warranty was a definite plus for me.
Gas Milage
I am pleased to announce that I get 26 to 30 in town and 35 on the road at 65 miles per hour. Air pressure had to be adjusted before the check as 36 pounds were in each tire. currently about 2400 miles on car
VERY GOOD VEHICLE
I have owned new Honda's (2001) Audi and Nissan's and this car is just as good with riding features as the aforementioned, if not better than the Nissan and Audi.....great response on the highway, nimble handling, (better than the Honda)and fun to drive...I got 25 Mpg on my first mileage test, but the tradeoff in power is worth it... The dealership was very accommodating and so far completly satisified.... The only downside I can see is the materials are on the "Cheapie" side, and ashtray, accessories are not of the high quality standards of the Honda
My Review
I recommend this car to anyone budgetting and low maintenance. The car looks nice runs nice and is nice. For the price it gives more than it costs. My mother loves it, it is compact but roomy inside. my brother who is 5'9 fits in the front and back sit comfortably. Working single moms, lay of the expsive suv this will handle the car seats and kiddies too.
2006 Elantra review
Very sound car. Good fuel mileage. For the money, better than Honda/Nissan or Toyota. Would recommend this car for anyone looking.
Good Car for the money
I traded in a toyota pick up for this car in an effort to save gas on my long 45 mile one way trip to work. i was very impressed with the gas mileage which is about 10mpg better than what i was getting in the truck. not exactly a luxurious car but get's you from point a to b. roomier than i thought at first glance. fit's 2 adults and 2 kids comfortably. great trunk space. for only a small 4 cylinder, car has good get up and go power. i prefer driving this around town over our smooth riding mini-van.
Love my Hyundai
I traded my '05 Accent for the Elantra because I wanted a more roomier car. I find these cars are well made and are priced right for anyone's budget. I like the smooth ride and the handling of this car. The interior is sharp and easy to find everything. I have a black car with black and grey interior. It has a great sound system, better then the Accent I owned. It came with a CD player which was a plus for me because I had to have one installed in my Accent. The seats are a soft velour cloth and very comfortable and the lumbar adjustment is great because I have a bad back and I can adjust it to my likeing. It's a car with a lot of bang for the buck. It drives like a dream!
Nice car for the money
Weird for me to say but I have been researching this car for 1 year. It has everything I want such as power everything and cruise is very important. CD now comes standard also. It has 2 years and 24,000 more mile warranty than most others in it's class which means nothing out of my pocket for an a/c going out (if it should happen)

This has been a wonderful car so far. Everything about it is great...it rides smooth, looks great and is very comfortable. Best car I've had in years.
2006 Elantra
Nice fun car to drive. I have had no problem beating the EPA rated mileage. I average 31 in city driving and 40 on the highway.
Driving is believing
I test drove Honda Civic and Nissan Sentra. And also looked at Toyota Corolla and 2 other domestic cars. Among those cars, Hyundai Elantra came up on top. It runs much quieter than other cars in its class and has more safety features for the prices. It also comes with a traction control system. I had a Honda Accord V6 EX before this one and I like Hyundai better than Accord. Although it lacks the horsepower like Honda Accord, for its lighter curb weight, it accelerates as fast as Accord. I hesitated to buy it in the beginning but I am so glad that I bought this quality car.

Not a bad choice
I like this car very much so far. It took me for a ride in the first 8000 miles with a broken motor mount and air bag light, but it was all covered under warranty...no questions from the dealer. The 5spd trans is pretty responsive and much more fun to drive than the auto. I bought the car new feb 06 and have 44000 on the clock. No real problems since. I recommend this car as long as you keep up with the maintenance.
Todds Elantra
Im very Happy with this car. It has been very fun to drive, is great on gas, has plenty of power and performance. Overall is very comfortable. I have really enjoyed owning it. The only downside is tire wear. But if you keep them rotated frequently it seems to lessen the problem. I have had several friends who have either riden in or driven the car and everyone was impressed. Hyundai has come a long way.

I am very happy with my car, the appearance, performance and the support of the salesman.

MY 06*** Love my car
I bought my 2006 Elantra New May 06. It now has 21000 miles on it and it has been very good to me, I have had no problems with it at all since i bought it. Reliability is a 10++++ plus i bought the extended 10yr 100k bumper to bumper and i have to say that i feel 100% safe w/free roadside assistance with a push of a button on the phone.
HAPPY HYUNDAI
My first elantra was bought in 2000. Had an accident in 2006 and bought another one... Wouldn't purchase another car. For the price, waranty, comfort, reliablity, style, etc. What other kind of transportation is there? n-o-n-e. Keep up the great job in manufacturing such a tremedous car for the $$$$$... You can keep your Benz, beemer, Lexus, vet, etc. Give my a Hyundai anytime (and you still have money left for gas!)
Old Reliable Elantra
I bought my Elantra back in April 2006. I still have it to this day in 2024!! At this time, in November 2024, the car has 480,000 miles on it!! It still runs as good as the day I drove it out of the dealer lot. In the last 18 years I have gone off the road twice in it. The first time driving icy road in January 2020 slid off road into a shallow ravine. A tow truck had to tow me out but I was able to drive it to work then to a repair shop to fix a couple minor things like replacing a windshield washer pump. Then, in May last year I was drinking water out of a water bottle and the water went down my windpipe instead of my esophagus causing me to uncontrollably gag causing me to swerve off the road into the very rough and bumpy shoulder. calling on my 51 yrs driving experience, I was able to keep it under control and back onto the road. I was able to drive it back to my house. In all these years have had to change the timing belt 4 times (recommended every 60,000 miles). the battery and alternator once. radiator 12 yrs ago. the AC is still working flawlessly!! I will keep it as long as I can. am 69 It has become a part of me now after all these years. It has saved me so much money over the years!

Best First Car EVER!
So i was looking into getting a car, and came across the Elantras. These cares are THE best. I have been getting about 30mpg in town and 39 on the freeway. The manual is so nice and is very peppy. It is very fun to drive around town and mess around in. The response time is great! Also i keep getting comments from my friends saying that it is very comfortable and how they love the sound quality! The sound is amazing! I love how they actually come with 2 subs installed in the back. Also the tweeters and subs in the front. Well put together. This car is a solid car and a great one! I would reccomend this car to anyone! I have not had any problems and love this car to death. You should buy one.
This is a Great Vehicle
It performed well on every occasion. Very good option for the money spent. Great safety features. Comfortable ride. It is a good family sedan.
Fantastic car
Thi small sedan has a smooth, comfortable drive. Handles like a mid- size, and has that much room. Fantastic car.
Best car in price range, or even higher
Very happy with car, quality far above domestic cars, and beats many Japanese models costing thousands more which is a big surprise to me. The Koreans are offering a lot for the money.
best car I ever owned-2nd one
This is my 2nd elantra, I traded in a 2004 with 36000 miles on it, and had no problems with it, it ran rings arround my 2004 Honda Civic Lease car. The 2006 only has 1200 miles on it, but rids more like a luxury car, and the radion has improved 200 percent. It has lots of power, and ease of handling, and the engine is a thing of beauty.
