9 speed transmission terrible
I bought the 2019 pilot elite and within 6 months I had a lot of complaints. The 9 speed transmission is terrible. It stalls and jolts anywhere in the 25-40 mph range. It literally freezes for a couple seconds and doesn’t accelerate. Sometimes it also makes a loud “thud” noise as if something has broken. The infotainment system is garbage. It freezes, turns off, drops calls or won’t even connect my phone. Now for the cooling system. The car literally cannot cool down on hot days. I can put it in my garage where it’s shaded, blast the air for 20 mins and can’t get the inside to go below about 78-80 degrees. Despite each complaint at the dealer under warranty, they have no fixes for the transmission. They simply do a reset on the infotainment system which doesn’t work or they blame it on my phones- which have been brand new and work in other cars. They also told me they reduced the air conditioning pumps from 2 to 1. I have them look at the car, they charge me for a loaner under warranty even when they need to look at it for more than a day and fix nothing because this is how the car was built. The brake light and notification comes on when nothing is around me- I have dropped the sensitivity on that to the lowest setting and it still goes off beeping at me for no reason. The entire experience has been awful and I have no desire to ever purchase a Honda again.

Poor shifting and infotainment assembly issues
Purchased 2019 Touring model in Canada. Transmission shifting poorly and infotainment makes loud cracking noises through speakers. Bulletins in U.S. not available in Canada for poor shifting and Honda assistance is poor at best. Dealer seems to be in the dark but is trying. Infotainment issues are chronic across the 2019,2020 passport, pilot and ridgeline. The zf 9 speed has not been fine tuned enough as evidenced by continued service bulletins. Honda quality has dropped. Would not recommend purchasing until they address infotainment and 9 spd. Issues.

Love it!!
This is the first SUV I ever buy for myself as I am a truck guy. With my kids having outgrown the useful space in my 2007 Tacoma, I was forced to purchase something that could more comfortably carry people. Thus far, everyone is enjoying this vehicle. We are planning our summer road trip in this vehicle so that will be a true test for how well it holds up under constant use.
