Best road trip auto ever
Road trips are a dream in this super comfortable, safe, and reliable SUV with the most storage space of all mid-sized competitors. Climate control includes individual thermostats for driver, passenger, and rear seats plus heated seats up front. The materials are excellent and after 85K miles over 4 years, our Pilot EX-L looks new. We rarely use the third row seat and found more than ample storage for camping trips and multiple-venue road trips lasting up to 6 weeks. The ride is more like a well designed sedan rather than a rough riding SUV. In all, the best road trip auto ever.

Third Pilot Owned
Purchased a 2012 LX 4WD for 28,000 before taxes and plates. Much better than the 2011 LX 4WD I traded in. Traded in the 2011 because my company pays for my vechicle. I expected the 12 to be the same as the 11. However, I found the 12 handles much better at highway speeds on twisty roads. Not sure why, but the tires are more highway like. But, the difference is huge. City gas mileage is much better by about 2MPG. Freeway mileage is about the same. I also have a 2011 Toyota Highlander. The 2011 Highlander was much better than the 11 Pilot. However, the 12 Pilot is as good as the 11 Highlander. However, Highlander still gets a little better mileage than 12 Highlander.

Great family car
Great family car. Lots of room. Fantastic in the snow.
5 years humming
My 2012 Honda Pilot EX-L is a good vehicle. Bought it certified used from a reputable dealership 2 years ago with 25K miles. I've driven it another 25K miles. It's roomy, reliable and safe. I keep it properly maintained and in my 2 years of ownership I've had: 5 synthetic oil changes, new brake rotors and pads replaced once and cabin and air filters replaced twice. I just replaced the right front and rear wheel bearings and had to replace the front lower control arm bushings. Repairs were done by a trusted local mechanic. Combined repairs have cost ~$3,000, mainly in the 5th year. While certainly not "maintenance free" (if such a vehicle exists after 5 years) any vehicle driven the equivalent of twice round the planet will require new brakes and some suspension repairs, particularly when the vehicle is driven in the NYC metro area where crappy pavement on roads and highways abound. All things considered, I'm very pleased with the 2012 Honda Pilot EX-L and recommend it for its reliability, security, comfort, and roomy interior space.

round 3 12,000miles
We have taken the pilot to N J and then to disney world. We now have over 12k miles. The pilot has good maners on the interstate.and is comfy on long trips. The mileage seems to average 25.6 or better.I drafted an 18 whlr for a 100 miles and got 27.8 but thats another story.Only things we have found are the audio sys when using a flash drive is unpredictable(songs will repeat come up diff order etc.)And when hot in traffic if you turn right hard then step on gas will 5out of 6 times hesitate before going, will also do same if you leave a light and have to let off gas then get back in it.Over all we are very happy with pilot as compared to Nissan.Wife has hard time backing in driveway at night.
