Used 2008 Honda Odyssey Minivan Consumer Reviews
Not what I hoped for UPDATE
One more trip Illinois to FL and back on business and have to say I don't think this van will be with me for a year. Passenger side door sounds like it's falling off on bumpy roads. Creaks & groans from front end all the time. Rear hatch does not always respond to keyless input to open. Now 6400 miles and will need 1st service soon. Brought in to dealer at 3500 miles but they said not to service until 15% on meter. Told them about the rattles and the guy said "well, it's a van." Yeah, but at $40,450 I hoped for better.
First Mini Van
I think this van is great. I always told myself that I would never get a minivan, but with kids it's a must. I think its the best looking minivan on the market, both inside and out. So far I haven't had any of the problems that some have complained about like excessive road noise or squeaking. This van has tons of room and the backup camera is awesome. It drives just like my accord which makes driving it much easier for my wife. Out of all the vans I researched, this had the highest rating and now I see why.

Did All Maintenance But Still fails
Bought my 2008 Odyssey Lx used with 16k(16,000) miles. Took it to the Honda Dealer for ALL maintenance and repairs diligently and on time. Torque converter failed @18k; power steering pump failed at 90k; power steering pump failed again at 130k; AC sensor/switch failed at 110k; transmission failed@120k- used transmission w/66k installed; rear engine mount failed@70k; sliding door(manual) cable failed @85k; valves adjusted & valve cover gasket leak @ 125k; now being told rack is leaking@134k; alternator failed@110k; rear struts failed at100k; Been through 5 sets of tires in 10 years. 3 sets of michelin defenders lasting no more than 20k, 2 sets of Bridgestone Ecopias. It’s been great otherwise. Now has 134k miles.
Either the van or dealership not up to par
I payed 8 grand in 2021 not quite 1 yr ago and the dealership i bought it from agreed to replace broken fog lights included in price then 5 months later when they did fix fog lights they didnt put new clips in to hold up bottom plastic while at dealership i asked about gps map giving wrong date and time it said 2001 or 2002 they told me that honda was aware of the problem and would have a fix by august here it is august and it says 2003 so its only 5yrs. Befor the van was even made according to gps map. Because of that im not sure if its the dealership or van itself but in 10 months i have had to replace $300 alternator glove box wouldnt open due to loose screws and plastic cover to it moving out of place which would also cause glove box light to continuously go on and off keep in mind all this started after very expensive and hard to get to to replace alternator replacement and a plastic panel thing in front passenger side seems to keep coming loose and on occasion it seams like the transmission isnt catching quite right. I bought this van because reviews said it was basicly one of 2 vans that went over 200000 miles with no problem mine had 191??? Miles when i bought it i fiured i should let people know it may go over 200000 miles but not by much. Befor expensive repairs. So here it is august 2023 and gps date says 2004 still no fix imagine that.

Chipping away at the Honda!
Who knew that anything that goes wrong with this 08 Odyssey would always be about $1000 or(3000). A little $5.00 dollar servo motor in the air conditioning system ran $900. Altinatter Replacement $1100. Front bumper and grill replacement for a run-in with small deer, $2300. White paint chipping (at least 9 places all over car) some 4 inch diameter require new paint job which will run at least $3000. Spent $7,700 to pay off loan on a car that is worth $2300. So, there it sits in the driveway since beginning of January. Can't sell it to break even. Honda covers paint chipping back to 2012 only. They refuse to talk to me.I bought another car to get around. I think Honda and their car should have a fire sale.

I only buy the safest!
Unfortunately we have had many issues with our brakes. They seem to need time to build pressure. When we leave our house, stopping at the stop sign takes a lot of work. Now I dont mean it is impossible to stop, just uncomfortable. I have taken it into the dealership many times and they seem to do something that makes the brakes feel great at the time, but in a few weeks they go back to feeling the same. Im still dealing with this issue after about 5 months now and Im in the process of getting a lawyer to get it taken back on lemon law. Dont get me wrong thought; Im very comfortable when driving and it looks stylish. In my opinion it gets great gas mileage for a minivan. Check it out!
Excited about a minivan
What is not to love. We have 4 kids and our only options at this point are suburbans or Minivans. We looked at Chrysler T&C, Toyota and Honda... Honda was a no brainer! It has plenty of horsepower with our whole family and a incredibly smooth ride. For the family who needs a "touring" vehicle with all the bells and whistles this is the car. The sound system is excellent ( I have 2 teenagers and it is very important). it is also important to have teenagers to show you how to use the nav system.
