my opinion on the oddessy
it is to new to rate annual gas milage the hatch window should be taller, the headrests interfere with the rearview for short people the gas pedal is to far away for short poeple, and it's to small. The gearshifter on the column interferes with the interior lite toggle switch when you put the car in gear and the windshield washer handle should be on the other side the map lite shines in your face when it is dark the heated seat switch is on the bottem of the door which makes it difficult to shut off when you are driving overall I GREATLY dislike the interior of the van. I probably will never buy another one the car is also to new for some of the ratings
Still a Benchmark after 5 years
Finally bought our dream van. Researched all the others, chose the best (Toyota was not discounting the 2004 Sienna). Great value, the best design and engineering...it's a Honda. Great resale and safety ratings too. Powerful, solid body structure, great handling, good mpg. Does not have all the gimmicks that other have, just a well engineered vehicle.

Everything I wanted and more
The Ford has a couple more bells and whistles like the rear sensors and handling control but the Odyssey has better power, less noise and let's face it... what would you trust more on a cross country trip for reliability? The Navigation was a must for me since I am a Realtor. I own a 2002 Windstar and like it too but it, like it's predecessors has had plenty of trips to the shop for little things... heck, it didn't even make it off the lot the first day without issues. I still like the Windstar but think the Honda is the best choice.
AWESOME
I love my Odyssey and I wouldn't trade it for anything except another one!!!! It handles very good in bad weather, I was really surprised how well. It's very comfortable to drive. My children love to the way it drives/rides.
Pound for Pound the Best Minivan
We looked at all the minivans (Dodge, Nissan, Toyota, Honda). The five star safety rating, options on the EX model, Price and powerful 240hp won me over.
Can't get much better
We have had to minivans now from Honda and these are an amazing vehicle. I like that I don't feel like I'm driving a box, and yet I can see around me quite well. It is roomy inside for everyone. We live in the midwest, so I put a high priority on climate control systems--this one heats and cools quickly! Comfortable for any size adult to drive!
Safety
We were just hit in the rear by a 18 wheeler. The damage was over $5000.00. I really beleive if we were in any other vehicle we would have been killed.
Honda Odyssey
Drives as if you are in an airplane. Smooth and very reliable. You can almost put it in Auto-Pilot and it just glides.
MINIVAN MAN
THIS VAN HAS GREAT ACCELERATION TURNS ON A DIME JUST A GREAT M-VAN LOVE THE POWER DOORS KID LOVE IT TOO
First Honda
I never thought I'd be caught dead in a mini-van but I love this Odyssey! It has space, comfort, power and gets good mileage. It's ideal for retirement travel, including picking up the grandkids from the airport. Drove it VA to Texas and back, 3200 miles, first week, 28 mpg. Traded a BMW 352 for this car but I'm satisfied with its handling and performance, given it's size and weight. So far, 11000 trouble free miles.
What more could you ask for?
Sure, the 2005 are a lot better looking inside and out, but who's got $15,000 more dollars when you can get an 04 that's just as good. We've had ours a week. We shopped around for almost 6 months. It was between the Sienna and this. The Honda looks better outside. The Sienna has more "cubby holes" and looks a little fancier. But as far as SAFETY, RELIABILITY, RESALE VALUE, and LOOKS..Honda's got everyone beat. Your kids are the most precious thing, and you would want them to be as safe as possible... what are you going to trust? A van that's won the "Safest Car on the Road" for like 5 years now... HONDA ODYSSEY! Has that sporty feel, takes corners wonderfully, excellent for trips!
God buy
After driving Ford cars for nearly 40 years I switched to Honda because of price and performance. Friends had raved about the Odyessy and after a test drive I was sold. I haven't been disappointed.
Smooth
Smooth. Everything about this van is smooth. Coming from a 1995 Windstar to this vehicle was like going from the ridiculous to the sublime. The Windstar was bulky, noisy, slow and unreliable. The Honda is not three out of that four. I can't answer to reliability yet except for what Consumer Guide says. Everyone rates this van tops in reliability and value, two things the Ford could never deliver.
Great Odyssey
Very fun to drive. Plenty of power. Great for the family. Good value.
Love my Honda Odyssey
We have had our Honda Odyssey since 2000 and we love it. It is very spacious and comfortable. We are a very busy family and are quite frequently transporting our kids and their friends to games or scouts. This minivan comes with great features that you would pay extra for with other vans.
2004
The gas mileage is the only downside.
great van!
i have owned this minivan for a couple of months now this is a great vehicle, and my family and i have enjoyed it. the engine is silent but powerful, the exterior is sleek and beautiful, the interior so plush and perfect...i mean, this is just a WONDERFUL van...it was definitely worth the cost! it's so valuable, we'd never give it up! i highly appreciate and recommend this van. we love it, and we think that you will too!
Depressed it's time for a Minivan...look
When my wife became pregnant with kids #2 & #3 (twins!), I got my marching orders......The Sequoia and the boat need to go. We needed a minivan for the 3 kids....especially need a van with two infants. So, I immediately began looking for a minivan........of course I wanted it to pull our boat. We got that in our EX and at a much better price than the "new-release" Toyota minivan which cost $5-6K more!
Great!
We just bought our new Odessey, and it is great! We bought the new EX with DVD version and there is no other minivan out there that can offer you so many excellent features for the price, with the great reputation of a Honda. I test drove the Ford Freestar, and the Odessey is so much more smooth driving, more comfortable, and much better looking. Coming from a SUV the gas mileage is great, and the kids car seats fit wonderfully. The seating options offer great versatility. We love it!!!!
my Odyssey
We bought the Odyssey last week after researching it for a year and talking to other Odyssey owners I work with. I haven't heard a negative comment from any Odyssey owners. Our Odyssey has very good acceleration, good handling, is easy to drive, and is very roomy.
Much Better Than My Voyager
Having owned 4 Acura's and a Honda Accord, I expected the Honda Odyssey to be a very high quality vehicle, and I wasn't disappointed. It's fun to drive, handles well, and will haul just about anything I could ever need it to haul. My wife and I enjoy the vehicle, and look forward to many years of ownership.
love my honda
THIS IS MY FIRST MINIVAN, I ONLY HAD IT FOR 2 WEEKS AND IM LOVIN IT.IT HAS A SMOOTH RIDE.NO PROBLEMS YET. THE DEALER SHIP WAS AWESOME FRIENDLY AN NOT PUSHY.
So far, so good
This is our second Honda. Our first one, a Civic LX sedan, which we still own, is 16 yrs. old so we chose Honda for its reliability. While we are pleased with the Odyssey so far, we wish there was a "fix" for the "clicking" noise which occurs (from the rear wheels) when braking. Apparently, this is a problem with both the Odyssey and the Pilot.
Long-time Caravan switched to Odyssey
Happy with 96 Dodge Caravan, but time to get new van. IMHO not enough engineering solidity in Caravan compared to foreign vans. Did serious comparison of Kia/Toyota/Nissan/Honda. Kia not fuel efficient enough, reliability/future of Kia in general questionable - worst quality ratings of any car maker. New Toyota nice, but not worth $7K more than Odyssey and availability extremely limited ("none on the ground"). Nissan has nice style, but not worth $5K more than Odyssey.
Odyssey
I am so glad we bought the Honda. Even though we did pay sticker we are thrilled with our van. This is our first van and the performance of the engine with 240 horse power is great. No need to worry about getting up those mountains on our way to Florida. Our next van will be a Honda. I also liked that there wasn't a ton of bells and whistles on the dash or headliner. Just the basics.
Reliable
After 2 weeks from buying it, we knew we had bought a winner. First tried the Chrysler T&C, wow what a big mistake. After 12 repairs under 30 K miles on the Chrysler, we were ready for something new. Honda ride is excellent with a low center of gravity and very little road noise. The car is an overall perfect 10 except for 2 minor qualms. Needs temperature gauge. Also, Honda needs to improve the gas mileage of this van. I experience 14-15 mpg in town, which is better than the Chrysler but I'd still like to get 25-30. I'd gladly trade some power for 25-30 mpg or better yet put the Odyssey on the front of the list for a hybrid engine.
There is no better value
We looked for more than half a year for the perfect minivan, after having made a terrible mistake with a Chrysler Voyager. We looked at Freestars, Siennas, Quests and well, we left aside the Town&Country and teh kings of plastic: Montana and Venture out. The Odyssey offered an unbeatable value. We hesitated to purchase the van with the new generation ante portas. But it is close to being perfect with minor flaws such as the placement of some buttons and the dashboard is a bit dated. But you get a powerful engine, great seating comfort all for thousands $ less than at N&T. We would have liked the DVD, but people apparently stand in line for those cars.
Well Satisfied
Overall Best in its class and am very satisfied
Odyssey '03
we ahve never had any trouble with it breaking down or not starting when turning key in the igniton.
The only choice
This is the best overall value in the class. We traded a domestic van that we enjoyed very much and listened to the hype about the Honda. We drove it and bought it after doing the diligence of looking around.
Best Minivan
This is the best minivan. The Toyota Sienna can not be compared to it. Nice job Honda.
excellant van
it has good engine performance and durability.
Family Car Extraordinaire
Perfect for the extended-family outing The DVD-system is great for young & old Engine smoothness & power are superb Holds more cargo than my pickup! Heated leather seats are marvelous Front&Rear A/C-Heat systems are super! Excellent road handling ability Leg space great, any seat, any row
Great Car
We love this car. It handles well and the leather and heated seats are awesome. It is the best car I have ever owned.
Odyssey
This is a very well designed vehicle. We do not know how we got along before we bought it. We love every Honda product we have owned and wish the Odyssey was offered in AWD when we bought it.
prize goes to honda designers...
Well, let see.....after leaving the dealership...It was a real joy to drive it back home. This honda has all the bells and whistles..and more. I really think Honda did a wonderful job with this minivan. The third generation odyssey will have what the competition is touting, all seats that fold into the floor, camera for one to backup, updated stereo and cd..., more horsepower...so buy the 2004 and save 2 to 3 thousand dollars.
odessy
it is a terific car,,wish i had got the leather interior and navigator,,,that will have to be my next one,,,,i love my odesssy.
I'm a Believer!
This is a near-perfect people hauler. The layout is user friendly, easily fitting my family of five (three kids in car seats fit well). Access is great. Performance is surpisingly excellent. Passing traffic is easy. Visibility is good. Quick turns don't even upset this minivan. Still waiting to see how it does in Spokane snow.
AN OK VAN
IM AM NOT IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR BUT ITS BETTER THAN THE 04 SIENA. DISAPPOINTING GAS MILAGE WHY CAN'T JAPANESE CAR MAKERS INSTALL COMFORTABLE SEATS LIKE I FIND IN AMERICAN CARS?
No! Not a minivan!!
I bought this thing and had to give up the last vestige of my bachelorhood: my '86 VW GTi. Yeah, right, it drives just like a car. Seriously, since i have 2 kids and a wife, I could not ask for more. 240 HP (wish that was in the VW!) is best in class, and it moves quite nicely. It's also one of the lighter miniv's available. My two under 2 are separate, and we can get past them to the 3rd row easily. The 3rd row actually IS comfortable - says my Mom with the bad back. Knowing Honda's reliability, this thing should last into their puberty and - dare i think it - i may be able to teach them to drive in it!
best family car
very excelent, roomy and very fun to drive...safe. (best family car in the world)
THE BEST MINIVAN EVER
My husband and I owned a 2002 Toyota Camry and we loved the car. When we first got it we only had 2 kids and it was comfortable. We now have 3 and the youngest is only 8 months old. Oh oh time for a bigger vehicle. We loved our car but we have to move on. When it came to deciding on what type of vehicle the Honda Odyssey was our choice. We couldn't of chosen better it is a great vehicle. I miss my camry but this is a great mini van and the kids love the fact that it is very comfortable and so do we.
AWESOME VEHICLE
My brother own one and I never drove it. When I got mine, I was so impressed that I will not buy any other van than the Odyssey. The drive is so smooth that sometimes I have trouble hearing whether the engine is on or not. The safety features are awesome.
great van
we just had a baby, it'd recommend this vehicle.
Odyssey 2004 EX
Leased the vehicle from local dealer. Excellent performance, reliability, build quality. Wished I had waited 6 mos. for the new improved redesign.
I love my Odyseey
I love my Odyssey!
Performance Guy turned into a Grizwald
We chose Honda based on three main variables: 1Roominess 2Reliabil.3Value I felt Honda gave us plenty of room(if not too much)The fold down seat allows for alot of storage. The reliab. of Honda products in our house has always been great. The Value was a big key to our purchase. We did not see the 'incentives' given by the other manufac. to be real.A $32000 Dodge with incent. of $3500 still lacked many of the feat./perfor.we got in Honda. We found pricing the packages to be confusing and misleading. We like the fact that you had basically 3 packages to choose from and that was it.
SO FAR SO GOOD
JUST GOT IT .....LOVIN IT
My Honda
NOT HAPPY WITH PAINT JOB!
Dream van
This van is everything that a Honda advertises. 240 Hp is more than adequate, very comfortable, all around excellence
