Used 1999 Honda Odyssey EX 4dr Minivan Consumer Reviews
Good Minivan
This minivan has been excellent. I have two small children and the interior has held up incredibly well for the pounding they give it. The car has all the features you need - reliable, good size, comfortable, excellent safety, nice ride. I liked it so much that I just bought the 2002 EXL.
Satisfying Van
This is a versatile and functional car. You will not be sorry you bought this one.

Will not buy another Odyssey ever again
Since I purchased this vehicle, all I had is problems. First, the battery, then a sensor on the automatic doors, then the transmission, which in this vehicles IS MORE EXPENSIVE because is complicated to work on. After 4 months and a lot of money spent, I just traded in for a Quest. I definitely will not buy any Honda SUV or Van ever again. Read the reviews and you will know why.
Disappointed
We purchased this minivan thinking that with Honda's reliability, we would have years of service. We were very wrong. We have had repeated power door problems, suspension problems, several recalls, and a replaced transmission. The engine now leaks oil and has less than 100,000 miles. Having owned this vehicle, I now know that I will never own another Honda again. There apparently is a myth about Honda reliability. If foreign cars are no better, why do we continue to buy them?
LEMON: 5 Transmissions in 56,000 miles
You read it correctly. 1st transmission lasted only a few months. The replacement lasted about a year. You read it correctly. 1st transmission lasted only a few months. The replacement lasted about a year. The 3rd transmission lasted the longest -- from 2001 to 2004. The 4th transmission lasted only 3,000 miles and just died on the highway while on a family trip. My automatic doors have also been repaired/adjusted 5 times (sudden door buzzing when hitting bumps in the road). If you want an Odyssey, wait for the all-new 2005 model.
