Never again
I have owned my 2006 Insight for 7 years. Bought used with 32000 miles and only have 92000 now. When I first got it, it only had one key and fob, I went to the local Honda dealership to have one made, they wanted $100 to make a key. I ask why it was so much, the service manager said because they were the only ones that could make it, so they could charge whatever they wanted. Never took it back to that dealer. The car was o.k., lots of road noise, slow acceleration, but the big plus was the great gas mileage when gas was over $4.00/gal. Averaging around 60mpg. My wife would routinely get 63mpg, I would get 52mpg. The biggest complaint is the IMA battery system. After 2.5 years of owning the car the battery failed. It was covered under warranty, so I didn't complain to much. Now, 4 years later, the battery has again failed. I didn't realize the replacement battery only had a 3yr/36000 mile warranty, so now I am faced with $4000 repair bill. Even though I didn't pay for the first battery, it seems excessive to have 2 battery packs fail in the 10 year life of the car. Without replacing the battery this time, the car is practically worthless. I have a VW diesel that has 300000 miles, with only oil changes. No more Honda's and no more hybrids.

Great vehicle
Totally satisfied with what we intended this vehicle to be. We get the EPA 55-56 on the highway staying at or under 70 mph without the A/C on. With a/c and a heavier foot it drops to 48-49 MPG. No problems so far and have had no reported battery drain. Is great in traffic and a joy to park. The hard tires give great mileage but add noise - I'll take the trade off. This is a second car for us but gets most of the use because of the fuel issues and the around town convenience. We also use it for occasional longer excursion drives and plan to leave our other car home for road trips. Highly recommend this great vehicle.
Insight
I Purchased this Insight used and have very pleased with it thus far. Average day to day fuel economy has been in the high 60's with mid to high 80's easily attainable during extended highway driving.
Great car for commuters
Great car for driving to and from work. This car pays for itself by cutting my gas bill $100 a week. Couldn't be happier with the performance.
no contest for economy
No change between 2001 and 2006, so I expect the same from this one as the 2001 I traded in after 95000 flawlessly economical miles. Construction ensures rust will never be a problem. Small, yes, but agile, warmer and more practical than a motorcycle. Honda, keep making it. If you build it, they will come, especially as gas keeps climbing.
