Used 2023 Honda CR-V Consumer Reviews
Very sluggish and unresponsive
I don’t understand the engine / transmission combo Honda uses. This car I test drove was 1.5l Turbo and it is dangerously slow. It takes solid 2-3 seconds for engine to “scream” after flooring the pedal. This needs to be electrified or something, but I wouldn’t recommend as this is deadly slow.

Honda CRV EX-L 2023 Review
The new CRV EX-L 2023 is more spacious. My is Meteorite Metallic Gray with Black leather interiors which looks astonish. Many standard features on the EX-L made the ride very pleasant. The ride itself is very smooth.

Nice little SUV, with plenty of power.
My only dislike is lack of interior color options and the Hybrid has run flat tire with no spare.
Honda keeps doing it!
I have had 7 Hondas over 60 years and been happy with all.

Still early, after 1 year
So far mileage very low, 27.5, drivers seat not comfortable yet but haven’t set seat yet. Quiet, smooth so only hoping. Vehicle seems smaller than 2018, should have bought EX-L Review March 2024, Fixed driver seat so more comfortable, mileage still low on highway driving at over 70, if a combo of lower speeds, 65, 55, and 70 get around 31, at majority of 70 speeds gets 28-29 usually, ride ok, space inside seems smaller, always fill vehicle up, so mileage may be better if empty. Goal is maybe trade for new vehicle next year with better ride, mileage, and room! Hybrid or plug in Odyssey!

A great vehicle, just what we were looking for. Low mileage with a fantastic warranty.

A fuel efficient hybrid
With 8 months of experience behind the wheel on extended trips, in-city, and overland there is much to like about this compact SUV with a midsize feel. Foremost is the firm, responsive ride, handling winding roads with ease. Steep inclines prove to be a challenge for this engine, yet on the flats it can accelerate sufficiently quickly to keep stress levels in check. In-city driving is where the CRV excels. When I am not heavy on the pedal the electric motor kicks in and with the regenerative braking, I am getting an extra week of driving. Cargo space is the best in its class, something I definitely wanted and it has no trouble with the kayak trailer behind.

Honda CR-V
First and foremost, the fuel efficiency of this hybrid SUV is outstanding. I'm pleasantly surprised by how infrequently I need to fill up the tank compared to my previous vehicle. The hybrid technology seamlessly combines the electric and gas components, resulting in impressive mileage without sacrificing power. Comfort-wise, the CR-V Hybrid exceeds expectations. The cabin is spacious and well-designed, offering ample legroom for both front and rear passengers. The seats are incredibly comfortable, even on long drives, and the ride quality is smooth and refined. Whether I'm navigating city streets or cruising on the highway, the CR-V Hybrid provides a serene driving experience.

Poor interior quality
10,000 miles. Carpet and floor mat buckling and tearing from attachments. Dealer says they will not replace as the problems are due to design, a poor design to say the least. I wonder what else was designed poorly.

Delivery vehicle
I use mine as a mail delivery vehicle and loved the gas milage boost I got over my 2020 CRV. Also with the hybrid system brake wear has been a lot less than the gas version. I have 93,000 on mine now with no issues.

Moved up from a Honda Civic
I purchased this Honda CRV Hybrid Sport Touring 17 months ago it has 15,000+ miles on it today. Most miles are from long drives to visit family and friends from 3 hours to 8 hours away. The car is a comfortable ride. Beautifully quiet. Smooth ride. I get 35.4 miles per gallon. Three things that bug me about the car and, had I realized would have investigated another car maker: 1) NO SPARE TIRE. That's right. Honda thinks "fix a flat" is good enough for everyone. It's not, especially if you are going on a long drive with the possibility of a blow out (which I have had in past) that requires a donut to hold you until you get to where you are going. If you get into that situation with the 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid the car will have to be towed to a service station. UNLESS, like me you opt to purchase a spare tire kit from Amazon, which I have done. And when you do, you loose valuable trunk space. 2: the phone charger does not work. Whether it is an iPhone 11 or an iPhone 16 the charger does not work. Honda knows about it, the dealer knows about, I did not know about it until AFTER I bought the car. Yes you can use wires to recharge, but Honda...don't you just fix the charger?. 3: The windshield wipers on the CRV Hybrid do not wipe the windshield clean. 4: Defroster is a suggestion rather than a working option. Each one of these is more than a mild annoyance when you want to load your trunk, keep your phone charged on long drives when you are using WAZE use the windshield wipers in a storm and the defroster when the windows cloud up. And these annoyances make me wish I considered other car makers this time around.

CR-V Hybrid Not Made For Cold Canadian Weather
My dear Canadian customers. Beware! Lithium-ion batteries in hybrids or EV's do not have enough energy density to power SUV's and compensate for the heavy weight of the chassis. Aside from the low grade energy output, the batteries are extremly heavy and it adds extra weight to the small motor such as 1.5 turbos or 2.0 often found in current vehicles. The combined heavy weight from both the battery and chassis strains the motor and prevents adequate fuel efficiency or power output. In order for the vehicle to mitigate these negatives, the hybrid battery must re-generate power from a constant stop and go. This is called regenerative braking. This is only efficient in warmer climates and flat terrains. It does not work efficiently in cold weather and harsh unpredictable terrains nor does it work on highway driving where the battery does not have the opportunity to regenerate itself via stop-start driving conditions. It's fair to say auto companies including Honda have been very disengenuous with their marketing and have attempted to capitlize on the consumers persistant pursuit of better fuel economy. They don't advertise the real-world shortcomings of low grade lithium battery technology against Canada's topography and of course why would they. They are in business of making profit above all else at the expense of the consumer's lack of knowledge or shear ignorance. Just stay away until the advent release of solidstate or equivelant technology in 2030's.

REDUCED QUALITY OVER THE YEARS
Honda quality has really reduced over the years. My 2023 CRV EX-L has been plagued with issues starting at around 50k miles. From $2000 front facing camera AND shutter grill repair (in one visit) to turbo over boost causing the car to enter limp mode on another occasion, this car is LOADED… with PROBLEMS. The overall quality of the car is poor and the engine is underpowered under load. The transmission is sloppy and clunky at times. Now I feel air coming in near the window switches on the door. This car is TRASH!

Good candinate but not ready for a Hybrid yet
The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport 2.0 had many checked off items on my list. Large enough rear storage and with the easy enough folding rear seats was even better. Many nice features. moon roof. head room in/out rear and front. simple instrument panel easy to use.no space-age digital keys to enter. But no extra driving lamps due to new body type design. Plus when I tested drive the Hybrid and punched the 2.0 it really reved-up. That was concerning to me. However since I was on a street and unable to test further but only under normal street driving conditions it was excellant for what it was built for. Need to test drive other Manufactures Hybrids with 2.0.L 4cyl gas/electric and evaluate.
Over looked handicapped needs
We love our new CR-V except one requirement was overlooked. The rearview mirror is so thick and bulky it's nearly impossible to hang the handicapped permit which is where you are instructed to do to avoid a.hefty fine when parking in a handicapped spot

Awsome
Just got 2023 Crv my 5th Honda ! Car is awsome drives like a Honda ! Just traded in Hrv was the worst Honda I ever owned ! I love my big and roomy Crv awsome car
Interior was a deal breaker
Loved the updated exterior looks of the CRV but the interior was a huge disappointment.
What's happened Honda??
I bought a new 2023 CRV touring Hybrid expecting great service and a great car. To date my average MPG is just over 28 co0mpbined and Fernandez Honda service says must be your gas or the guy just smiled like it was all my fault. I only put premium fuel in it and avoid anything with additives. I've also taken it back to have the driver weatherstripping reattached. Dealer said it had slid down and I guess it must be sliding down to this date since I routinely have to feed it back on the door frame. Yesterday I notice the drivers side may was getting a hole in it! I'm retired and rarely have anything on my feet but flip flops or gym shoes. Really Honda, less than 6 month and you want me to buy another floor mat? Someone else also mentioned their electronics. At times mine has to reset itself(??) as it tell me there's an issue with the safety sensors, or there's a lag to connect to car play or switch from b ack up mode to drive. Went to another San Antonio dealer who said I needed to come by and drop it off and they would take a look. No way to make an appointment to do this, no loaners anon idea how long they would "need" my car to run it thru their shop.

BMW,AUDI,PORSCHE, MERCEDES to…honda cvr
Over the top, knew wait was time (81) to go safety, easy access but found so much more. 99% perfect, still looking for that 1%, maybe “status” or ego? Top of the line more expensive than I planned, could have bought a Tesla for 10 grand less. Every safety device and they exceed my expectations as does the performance. Looks are too common but perfect color and bigger wheels offset. I’ve always been a car guy and never thought I’d be happily driving a Honda.

Bubbles the CRV-EXL
Hello! This is my second CRV. I turned in my 2020 Honda CRV EXL (my first car) when my lease was over! I was so excited the CRV went over a makeover! TO START, I will be the Debby downer and start off with my complaints. Since I am 24 years old, looks and color does matter to me. I was extremely disappointed Honda did not offer more exterior and interior choices like Subaru and Toyota. To add, the front seats are beyond uncomfortable and nothing like my old CRV. The middle console is small and I do not like the layout. Lastly, the back window could be larger because I find it small when I am backing up. I understand these are more materialistic and personal preferences however, I will be looking at Subaru when my lease is up for more options Now, typical Honda- my Bubbles drives wonderfully in the snow. I live in Central NY where we get a lot of snow. Having AWD, ground clearance, reliability, and durability is why I have decided to get another CRV. I love the pickup on the highway, the gas milage, and how the gas pump you "touch" to open it. Also, the inside storage is awesome. I have so much room when I take my younger sister, her 80 pound lab, and my 80 pound pitbull on local adventures. The safety features are amazing and I love the touchscreen on my car. Lastly, I love the new AC/HEAT layout. It is super powerful! Overall: 8/10- I want Honda to come out with more colors, fix the seats, and fix the middle console.

2023 CRV Bad seal
This is my third brand new crv and I love it. The only problem I have is the seal's under all 4 doors. After going through the car wash, I was drying inside the doors and I noticed under each door there was a lot of dried dirt. I feel that the seal could have been made better as my previous two crv's never had this problem. I have had this car for two years now and should have written this when I first noticed it.
Still like new in 2025
The advantage is we are now a one car family. The CR-V gets to do everything. Takes long trips (getting an honest 35 mpg) On around town trips to stores (is easy to park w/good visability) We are older, and getting in and out of this Honda is made easy with power driver and passenger seats. Service for this CR-V has proven very reasonable (Always use Full Synthic motor oil and get over 15K miles between oil changes. Tire wear is better than average, and with nearly 30K and regular rotation, should go another 25K miles. Interior is comfortable and easy to keep clean. The safety features all work well and we use all of them to keep us and others safe. The dealership where we purchased this car has gone out of their way to get us in-and-out on a very timely basis. We have moved now and trust the new service department of the Honda dealer will take good care of us too.

Great choice
This is our fifth CRV, not a Hybrid. I am getting 31/34 mpg. It’s a more stable and smooth ride, and it’s longer and wider than my previous CRVs. Infotainment and cell phone charging are also an improvement. Auto start feature is easy to get used to and all of the parking warnings keep me from scratching my bumpers. Honda really listened to their consumers. Well done.

Nice drive but I should have done my homework
First it is comfortable and a pleasure to drive. It is attractive inside. I have the Sport Hybrid (EV). It gets 33 mpg on highway but can be over 40 mpg in town if you are paying attention. Now for the irritating things. The car charger is crap. It suddenly started charging my phone after a year but the phone has to be 'just right'. The center console has a cheap latch ... I mean really cheap. I purchased some side molding (dealer installed) and they are very cheaply made. They fall off and dealer has installed them twice. They are coming off again and I will try to put them on with 3m tape. The one major item is no spare or tire tools. I have not had a flat in over 10 years but somehow at 3000 mile had a huge cut in the tread. There was no way to add air as it just leaked out the huge hole. I then looked at trying the inflation cassette they supply with the car and realized it was useless (plus a new one is over $150). So bought a spare and tool kit. Bottom line it is a nice car, but at over $50k ... the irritation of all the little things has taken the flow off the car. In comparison, my 10 year old Tacoma has none of these issue after 130k miles.

2023 CRV Hybrid Sport touring MPG 30-33
I've had so many Honda cars in my life and I wanted this specific model because of the AWD and gas mileage. Here are my pros and cons... We will start off with the cons. CONS: 1) Gas mileage listed cannot be obtained. I normally got 34 with my 2018 Honda Civic Turbo. I was expecting to get better gas mileage which was a primary reason for my purchase. I'm getting 30 - 33 with this 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid. 2) Braking... this car has so many safety features that if you are on the freeway and try changing lanes, the car will pull you back into your lane and it will break without you expecting it. Its great you won't be able to hit anything but your head on the steering wheel when it decides to brake while you are looking right to start your merge and move you back into the lane you are trying to merge out of. At least the airbag didn't deploy. 3) This car has great difficulty getting up hills. It has NO power. Honda says it can pull up to 1000 lbs but I don't think it can tow anything given it crawls up any hill with a loud whine without towing anything at all. 4) The gears... I was looking forward to the snow feature but after you turn off the car and turn it back on, you don't realize it went back onto normal mode until you are sliding across the icy road. I have to remember every time to put it in snow mode when there is snow. It doesn't do this in economy or normal mode. 5) The car makes a loud singing sound when backing up. 6) No fog lights are available for this model car. 7) When you turn off the car, sometimes you don't know the car is turned off but the door locks won't work so you know you need to get back in and turn it off. PROS: 1) The ride is very comfortable and smooth for long drives. The heated steering wheel and seats are great in extreme cold weather but the steering wheel heater doesn't automatically turn back on when you turn on the car. The seat does. 2) The car is roomy inside. 3) The cup holder works for different size items.

CRV is a great vehicle
The CRV Hybrid Sport is a great vehicle. It has surpassed my expectation. It has outstanding gas mileage and surprisingly quick acceleration and plenty of passing power. It handles great and seats are firm and comfortable. Rear passengers seating and the cargo area is spacious. In my opinion, the only downfalls I’ve notice is the horn sounds terrible (not loud enough), the Hybrid version doesn’t have a spare tire and the only choice of wheels are the black 18 inch wheels. Seems to me they would’ve had at least more wheel selections as some of the exterior colors don’t look right with black wheels; there needs to be more contrast.
