Love Honda, just like my CR-V

I've had my CR-V for just over a year and driven it for 21,000 miles. I had fuel-efficient cars before, but when I was looking for something bigger, I opted to forgo fuel efficiency for more space. I love Honda, so it was at the top of my list to look at for a small SUV. The only other SUV in the class that I liked was the Subaru Forester, but the 2018 model had many fewer features for the price, and the seats weren't very comfortable. I take several 700-mile roadtrips a year, so comfort is very important. What I like: *Function - tons of space, more than many mid-size SUVs *Very easy to drive/maneuver, and I came from much smaller cars *Price/value - tons of features available on the EX model *Honda reliability - I haven't had any issues with anything in the car in just over a year of owning. *Center console area is well designed and practical. What I don't like *Fuel efficiency - my city/highway driving averages 25 MPG, very unhappy about that. I only reach the mid 30s when I'm on my long roadtrips. *Seats - they are very firm. While I love how you sit in them, and the back hugs you, they are too firm once I've been in the car for about 100 miles. I got one seat cushion, but it was too thin and wasn't very noticeable. I got a thicker one, which only helps make the seat comfortable for maybe 200 miles, and I have to sit on it just right. Because it's so thick, I have to lower my seat as low as it goes, and even then I sit up so high (I'm only 5'5''), that my heel just barely doesn't reach the floor when using the accelerator. I cannot stand feeling so antsy/uncomfortable during 12-hour roadtrips when I'm driving by myself. This will probably be the reason I trade the car in within the next year. Superficially what I don't like *Stereo speakers are terrible. *The shifter knob is big and clunky. *Not having buttons for the AC controls, and sometimes it'll randomly change from the setting I had it on. *The screen is unnecessarily big when you look at the unused space around the display. And the angle of it collects a ton of dust. I still think this is the best "small" SUV out there, and I haven't really seen other reviews about the seat comfort, so maybe it's just me. But I never had a problem with any other car on long roadtrips, including an older Honda Civic and a Toyota Prius. Still love Honda, but this will not be a "forever" car for me unfortunately.

I bought this vehicle 5 months ago. I purchased it new. I bought the sandstorm one with tan seats. The seats stain easily. A water bottle leaked and left a stain. I can get it out but it is annoying. The windshield cracked after a rock his the window and the crack spread quickly. And a warning light came on stating "Shutter Grille Problem. Power Reduced." I was on the highway and the power was reduced. I still don't know what caused it. But with all of that I do love the car. It is just the right size, and the gas mileage has been great. It is a little loud when driving but I am ok with that.

I got this as I was a dedicated Honda driver, and have been for years. I came from accord coupes so I knew there would be a acclimation period. I got the ex in silver. Added led headlights and fogs myself. Speakers are notably bad in ex, and I struggled to enjoy driving due to crap sound system. The infotainment system would go nuts randomly with brightness settings and only fix was to pull over and restart car. The plastics used on speedometer, shifted, and steering wheel are incredibly cheap and scratch even with a microfiber towel cheapening they look massively. The instrument panel was by far the worst. Next I learned about oil issues and sure enough, my dipstick was well over the full line and smelled of gasoline. In winter ( I’m in Minnesota) the car would not warm up. 2 remote start cycles on a January morning and car was still cold. Entire drive to work, car cold. Would warm up on freeway but temp gauge would drop to cold at stoplights. Heated seats were only saving grace. Finally tires needed replacement at 20k miles. Mechanic reported Honda uses crap tires rated for 20-25k miles which sucked. Had to buy all new tires. Then there’s driving the car. The turbo is sluggish and eco mode is useless. It’s boring, uneventful, and slow. Feels very mini van like. I tried to get around these issues because who wants to have buyers remorse? Finally I had enough when I got lawsuit info about oil dilution in the mail. Traded in the crv for the new RAV4. Difference is night and day in terms of quality, the drive, the sound system, and overall aesthetic. If you’re older and like a slower, basic driving experience and live in a warm state, then the crv might still be for you. I’ve never been happier to be rid of something.

The SUV that does it all really well!

The EX level is probably the best choice for bang for the buck. Living in Minnesota I opted for AWD. This vehicle sits tall and feels bigger than it really is, but the handling is still pretty tight and responsive. The fit and finish inside and out is excellent with no undo road noise. There is a bit of a learning curve to mastering the technology, primarily the advanced safety features. The cargo space is incredible and it's very simple to drop the rear seats flat and to return them to upright. If you need or want a SUV that is spacious, comfortable, has the latest safety features along with good mileage the 2018 CR-V should do the trick.

the 1.5 liter 4cylinder turbo is adequate, but will not win any thrill contests. truthfully, this vehicle isn't meant for that! the ride is very solid and secure. the steering is precise. I really like the safety features, particularly the adaptive speed control, and blind spot indicators on the side view mirrors. the entertainment center takes a little getting used to, but when you're up to speed it is quite useful. the sound system is pretty good. the materials inside and out, while not luxurious, definitely feel of a good quality. All in all, this is a great family vehicle that is safe, comfortable, solid on the road, economical, and will take a lot of stuff where ever you want to go. oh, and despite it not being a ferrari, it still is quite fun to drive.
