Honda cost of ownership higher than toyota

2023 update. As time goes by, I am less satisfied with the CRV, especially compared to the Toyota RAV4 we also own. Higher per maintenance cost and random failures of the adaptive cruise control system make me wish I bought a different brand. Also the local dealer (Walser Honda) is not as good as the local Toyota dealer. 2022 update. Have owned my CRV for over 5 years. Overall it’s a nice vehicle, but I am disappointed in the cost of ownership. We also own a 2016 Toyota RAV4. The regular maintenance cost of the CRV is significantly higher than the RAV4. From cheap oem tires to frequent fluid changes, it will cost you several hundred dollars a year more to own a CRV. Also disappointed in the local dealership that tries to upsell services every time I take it in for an oil change. While I like the CRV, this will be my last Honda. After some initial problems with the active safety electronics, the car has been great. The original tires needed replacement before 30k miles, which was disappointing. I also own a Toyota RAV4, and the maintenance cost of the CRV is significantly higher. Overall I am pleased with the CRV, and will consider getting another when I am ready to buy again.

My wife decided to sell her 2009 Toyota Avalon and wanted to purchase a new car. We both really liked and enjoyed the Avalon but wanted a car that would sit up higher. My car is a 2014 Toyota Prius, which is our car used mostly around town. So, since we were loyal Toyota owners, we went to the local Toyota dealership and test drove the 2017 Limited RAV4 hybrid. We had assumed that it would be an easy choice to get another Toyota with that being the RAV4. However, we found the RAV2 was a little cramped inside, not particularly comfortable and felt like the cabin was not finished well. For example, it had softex covering the seats instead of leather. There was nothing about this car that wowed us. So, we then decided to test drive a 2017 Honda CRV mainly because of the insistence of our daughter, who has owned several Hondas. Well to make a long story short, we found the Honda CRV to be the perfect car since it was very comfortable with leather seats and roomy. We also like the layout of the dash. After contacting a number of Honda dealerships, we chose Hendrick Honda in Charleston, SC. Our salesman, Sam Latto not only gave us a great deal, but was never pushy and only offered us exactly what we wanted which was a blue 2017 Honda CRV EX-L. Everyone at Hendrick Honda was very courteous and helpful. This car is the best car that we have ever owned. It is a real pleasure to drive this car, particularly on the highway. Since I am a Prius owner, I know how to drive the Honda CRV in order to get good mileage. After just 3 fill-us, we are averaging around 28 MPG in town and around 39 MPG on the highway. The technology upgrade is fantastic and we both love the safety features. The Apple CarPlay is very handy and makes driving even more pleasurable. We highly recommend this vehicle and Hendrick Honda for your next car. To update our review, we have now had our CR-V for just over 19 months now and are just as pleased with this purchase. It continues to get excellent gas mileage and is very comfortable to drive.

Overall the car is pretty nice, but here are a few downsides: 1) Stereo is pretty bad and our Touring model supposedly has the upgraded sound system; 2) Safety tech is okay but overrated, radar based cruise control is what I find most useful but it has its quirks; 3) Road noise could be better, I will probably add some additional sound deadening to the doors and floor once the warranty expires.

Honda has stepped up the crv with its styling, features and safety. One test drive and the explanation of all the standard features and we were sold. The EX with the turbo is all you need unless you really need leather seats, navigation or roof racks.Your phones navigation can be connected and it works great. The adaptive cruise control and lane centering features make driving relaxing(it practically drives itself). Drove from Ct to Florida and back with a loaded vehicle at 70-75mph and averaged about 37mpg. Touch screen is easy to see and use. Traded in a 2014 Toyota Camry se and my auto insurance actually dropped in price. Only negative Honda had no incentives or financing specials, but it is still a great value. No other SUV in this price range or higher can compete with this crv, I checked them all out.

Look closely at paint especially the lift gate....underneath mine had like paint bubbles or runs and now it is chipping off...found several on lots with the same thing...just have not chipped off yet....customer service was the worst...don't expect help from corporate because they do not care...I have owned several Honda's and asked them if they were ok with the fact that they would lose me as a customer...and they had no concern
