September 2019 Update
Sad to report I traded my 2010 CR-V last winter when the car needed more repairs than I could afford at the time. There was a major problem with manifold and with credit tight, it made more sense to trade it in and start all over again. But it was a terrific car for 165,000 miles and after repair, I'm sure it's still running well for its new owner.

So far so good
Five hundred miles on the car so far and I am very pleased with the ride and fuel economy I'm getting (26-27 mpg). Switched from a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Test drove RAV4 and found it to have more road noise and gauges/clock were more difficult to read. Forester is a slug in comparison to CR-V. There is plenty of acceleration, especially where it matters - when you are trying to pass people at 75 mph on a steep hill. It's a little sluggish between 25-35 mph but you can get the acceleration you need if you're willing to be heavy footed. Interior layout is generally good. Seats are a little stiff and the lack of storage in the console is an annoyance. All in all - very happy with my decision!

6 month update
i now have nearly 5000 miles on my ex awd crv. quality, comfort, reasonable mpg ie 21-23 around town and 28 highway not to bad for awd. it is quite, handles well, and the build quality is second to none. i have had over 50 vehicles and i know a good one and this is one of the best . i have to say there is nothing that stands out that needs changing, it nearly perfect.
Great Mundane Vehicle
As far as reliability goes, the CR-V is fantastic. I've used it for several road trips and covered close to 25k+ miles a year. Besides basic maintenance nothing has failed (it's a Honda, need I say more?). The main downside is the ride is uninspiring. there is little road feel/feedback and performance is lacking. You won't be excited to hop in the car and go for a spirited ride. However, it will take you from point A to point B with little to no surprises. For it's purpose, it works.

recommend highly
This is in my opinion, the best SUV Honda has ever made. I owned 1 for several years & never had any problems. Great mileage, highway about 32 to 34, city 23 to 26. Reliability is unequaled, it only let me down once, a dead battery. Upkeep is very cheap and if you follow manufacturer's recommendations, it just runs & runs! Handles great, with great "road feel" in the steering & great in the snow!
